  • I'm 58! Used to feel like 90+++, but since I was treated for a blood disorder and joined MFP, I feel about 45! Now pushing to improve on that number!
  • These are my thoughts: children need the support and example of the adults they spend the most time with: that is not you, that is your Dad and Step-mom. If it were me, I'd have a heart to heart with my Dad and ask him if it wouldn't be possible for him to lead by example. If he and your Step-mom are opposed to this, I…
  • You are not alone! But with me it isn't just goodies...it is all food. I belong to the clean plate society. I find it nearly impossible to leave food on my plate. It always SHOCKS me when someone says, I can't eat anymore. I'm like WHAT??? I CAN always eat, but of course for weight management, I CHOOSE not to eat more than…
  • No, I would not do that. I would suppose that is how you put on weight in the first place - via uncontrolled eating . I would try zigzagging calories, but keep within your limit for the week. Make sure they are nutritious calories and that the level is not lower than MFP recommends. Also, I would back off on the exercise A…
  • It's going to be slow, don't get discouraged! My first year on MFP I lost 45 pounds, the next year only 20. Yes, One Whole Year to lose 20 pounds. But it was fine with me, I was so happy to be down in the 'overweight' category of the BMI charts that I was never discouraged and felt like I was on track the whole time. The…
  • I agree with this. If you concentrate on getting good nutrition and keeping calories even just 250 under mainteance level, you can lose weight successfully by just walking or doing physical activities that are enjoyable but don't cause injury or stress. Exercise is great, but you don't need to beat yourself up or drop into…
  • First for me was back fat, absolute last is thighs! *sigh* I was just 'complaining' the other day that the clothing sizes that fits my bust and hips/ thighs is like 3 times too big in my waist. If I could market the fat loss I experience in the mid section, love handles area I would be RICH, I say, RICH!!!
  • What should be said is don't marry the guy because if you aren't happy now, you REALLY won't be happy later.
  • This USED to happen to me when I tried to lose weight because I am one of those big butted girls, too. Poor dieting could be your problem. When I say poor dieting, I mean not drinking enough water, eating highly processed 'diet' foods high in sodium and low nutrition and calories. These factors cause stress and increased…

  • Raises hand! Especially the micro brews. But for weight loss and maintaining weight loss, I have cut back to 16-32 or so ounces a week - sometimes even NONE! It is a fair trade off for me, I'd rather limit myself to 1 to 2 beers a week and be at a normal BMI rather than have more and be overweight. Being "deprived" is not…
  • Average between 60 to 95 grams per day.
  • My opinion is that one should focus on the process and the journey of the present, glancing every now and then at the destination to see if it is closer or farther away. Then, when you realize you have arrived, make a new plan that keeps you where you are or one that will take you to your new destination.
  • Yes, I counted calories right from the beginning and continue to count calories. I try to make those calories as nutritious as I can, paying attention to micro and macro nutrients. However, as part of my plan I get in some form of exercise EVERY day, and eat those calories, too. Right from the start I kept as close to a…
  • Yep, this is what I did and it worked!
  • I had this problem with my son, too. It didn't help any that he would NOT eat any meat -- mostly because of the taste rather than an effort to be vegetarian or for ethical reasons. He is ULTRA picky too, but I also encouraged him to try new foods - this was hard but I was a determined mom - I usually got him to take a few…
  • Beautiful before and awesome & beautiful after! Congratulations...you earned it.
  • I like a lot of veggie burgers, but I HATE the Boca burgers. Could be I just don't generally like foods that TRY to look and taste like some other kind of food.
  • I like to read this when I need a jump start: It will never be: easy perfect the right time Nobody is going to: tell you exactly what to do drag you out of bed in the morning yell at you to eat healthy lift weights for you run a race for you There will always be: holidays sick days sleepless nights early mornings vacations…
  • As long as the OVER is nutritious food in sensible portions that fit with your micros, I agree that going over (slightly) has been more helpful in my weight loss.
  • That's ME! As we all know, no-one can target FAT LOSS. Your body decides where it loses first and last. You can help in the interim by targeting strength and toning to areas that lose fat first. This is theory behind "Escape your Shape" by Edward Jackowski. All I can say is that following this exercise plan has worked for…
  • I, also, took a look at your diary and agree that you have probably created a deficiency in some nutrients since you have been eating in the low range consistently for quite a while and most of those calories are not nutrient dense. Before you start taking supplements however, I would ask the doctor to do blood work to…
  • This is what I think, too, but I would also be pissed off...mostly at myself and it would be a lesson learned to stay within my food goals.
  • Oh, stop...you will make it seem like there is no need for HCG, VLC starvation diets, busting your butt with high cardio for 5 hours a day, or undergoing cleanses! Are you trying to break the back of the weight loss industry? (ROFL). You look great, btw.

  • So True! That is why I am still here and will continue to be as long as it is available.
  • But if you can get BETTER, HEALTHIER (no loose skin, no lean muscle loss, no nutrient depletion) FAT loss by just eating a smaller deficit, why are people so willing to undergo 'starvation' diets? People usually take the line of least resistance (easiest option) except when it comes to fat loss. I will never understand…
  • I enjoy them as an alternative to other workouts I do, but I don't believe they are for everyone. 1) They are expensive to own. 2) You have to be very certain to learn good technique or you will injure yourself or damage your floor/furniture/someone else.
  • If you have a HRM, you can make your own title entry and log the calories burned. If you want a good MFP estimate, I log partial strength training and circuit training. I love kettle bells and have had great results using them.
  • True statement. But my point was simply: since I DON'T use table salt, I know I am not getting 'extra' iodine that the average person who uses regular salt does.
  • I take Irish Sea Moss - not a supplement, but the actual plant. I get headaches from eating salt, so I probably don't get enough iodine since I never salt my food. Mostly it helps me reduce inflammation and hunger. The only place I can find to buy it is online. http://www.wifglobal.com/seamoss_usage.htm#STORAGE
  • Good recipes...I will try these, thanks for posting:drinker:
