When I started my first job after college and realized that if I didn't turn things around with my weight now (after walking EVERYWHERE in college and being relatively active), that it was only going to get much worse. I really wanted to be happy... and not single! Haha... so far so good on both fronts :)

I tend to feel ill and get dizzy when I don't focus on breathing during intense workout sessions. Lack of oxygen makes me dizzy, which makes me feel like throwing up. But I also make sure to eat a protein bar or something within 2 hours of working out, and then sipping (not chugging) water throughout the workout. I work…

Just a reminder for everyone to weigh in today for this week! I'm planning to clean up our list tomorrow and remove the names of people who haven't weighed in recently. SOOOO if you still want to participate, log your weigh in today! Doesn't matter if it's been a few weeks, you've only lost a pound, or you're stuck in a…

I'm pretty much in the exact same position as you. The last 10 pounds have been stubborn and I"m fairly certain its because the weekends kill me. I'm an angel until Thursday night, and then it goes down hill. So, a few things I've been trying are calorie zig-zagging (kinda worked if you stick to it), making sure I get a…

I maxed out at 215 lbs and I'm 24, no kids. My stomach has MOSTLY gone back to where it should be if I had never been overweight. It's still not a washboard by any means, but its passable for a bikini. There's still some pooch above and below my belly button, but I can tell that has been shrinking over time and flattening…

Week 12!!! Looks like we have another 20 lb loser this week! Congrats rharris86dc! I've managed a miraculous thing... I've been 148.5 (give or take 0.1) for the last 4 mornings. I think I'm finally seeing the results of shifting to less cardio, more strength training, and less sodium in my food/better eating overall.…

My trainer told me to avoid carbs in the evening too. So I tried it, I was eating really low carb veggies, greek yogurt, and chicken or fish for dinner. And I hated it. I didn't lose any weight from doing it and I gave it up after a few weeks. I've seen the most success in cutting out sodium as much as possible, having a…

It cracks me up to see myself in the breakthroughs section, it feels like I'm there every other week! LOL!!! But maybe I'll be able to keep myself in th 140s for a change. Bringing my lunch almost daily is for sure helping, WAY less sodium. I've also swapped out dinners for protein shakes for the most part. Anyways...…

That is a fantastic accomplishment in a year!! I can tell everywhere that you look great! And you're definitely glowing in your recent photos :) Enjoy it!

I've found that close to a healthy weight, your body can't sustain large calorie deficits. I can't eat 1200 calories or I'm really stuck. I've been eating around 1500 a day, and I'm set to lose 1/2 lb a week that gives me that amount. With the amount of exercise you're doing, it would be more beneficial to have a lower…

Well, I'm back down below 150, for the bajillionth time! hahaha. But I'm happy to be there, and I've been extra good this week. I had my 5K on Sunday morning (35:26!!!), and then I had training on Tuesday and I did some Chalean Extreme yesterday. Plus I've been having protein shakes for dinner, too hot for firing up my…

It will tighten up SOMEWHAT over time, but the skin won't always go back to where it should be. it depends on a lot of factors, but when you lose a significant amount of weight (and 50 lbs definitely is!), it's a risk that might happen. I've lost 65 lbs myself, and I haven't encountered too many loose skin problems. I've…

All of the above! I used to have to buy things in small quantities so I didn't eat it all, like single serving cups of ice cream. But eventually I got used to portion size and found substitutes, like greek yogurt instead of ice cream or preztels and hummus instead of cookies and milk. But on occassion I let myself have a…

6 months and counting... haha. I think it's less of a plateau at this point and more like I'm basically on maintenance. I could take things up to the extreme and probably start losing again, but I don't want to be a diet hermit and I'm already at my goal (altho I'd love to get down a bit more to 140).

You look amazing!!!! Your stomach looks like you've been that way your whole life! I'm still working my way towards a flat stomach, I'm just hoping that my skin goes back so it looks like I've been that way my whole life too. And very cute swimsuit!

I've done my own vacuum sealing. Put it in a ziplock bag and suck the air out of it... hahahaha. Also, it's OK to eat if it turns brown the next day. It's not rotten or anything, it's oxidizing like the brown spots on a banana. As long as it is within 2 days or so, you're good. When it starts to get really dark and smell,…

I spent 4 1/2 years in Ithaca on Cayuga Lake at Cornell University. The gorges and waterfalls were so pretty :) I miss it, and all the Finger Lakes wine!!!

Such a great list!!! I totally want to try this myself on my blog, thanks for the idea! Look for a shout out in my next blog post for it :)

That's a great idea! I love cream cheese frosting... and greek yogurt. I never thought to add sugar to make sort of a frosting with it. Def need to give it a try...

I used BMI as a starting point when I was trying to figure out where I wanted to end up. But having never been a normal weight in my entire life, I had no idea how I'd look or if I'd even be able to get that low. So, I picked 140 (top end of the BMI range for 5'3"). And then I lost 65 lbs, built up quite a bit of muscle…

Happy Monday everyone, and welcome to Week 11 of the challenge! Looks like people are doing well so far and every little bit is closer to your goal, even if it's 0.1 lbs. The last 2 weeks for me have been quite off my normal schedule, so I'm still adjusting. I had a 5K yesterday that went incredibly well, new personal best…

That's so fantastic! You should make those size 24 shorts into a denim skirt since you can fit in one leg! LOL!!! I love NY&Co, my favorite jeans are from that store (that i own in size 10, 8, 6 and 4... hahaha, the size 4 is my goal jeans, I fit in a 6 now).

Deodorant on your thighs. That's what I do when I wear skirts or shorts. It pretty much gets rid of any chaffing in that area. There's also a product called Body Glide that does the same thing. I prefer to work out in yoga pants (the capri kind) to prevent that problem tho, but since it's summer now, I bought a pair of…

Thanks everyone :) It felt good to see my ticker all the way to the right for the first time :) I just finished updating my signature and profile and such to reflect my realistic, and achieved, goal weight :)

Sara Rue, especially now that she's lost a bunch of weight and looks fabulous.

Great job everyone! I feel better that I'm not the only one who is up a bit from the long weekend (and I might not be up as much as I have there since I didn't weigh this morning). I'm starting to reconsider my decision to get down to 140. It's a goal I set at the very beginning and now that I see how my body looks and…
