  • Check out my diary. I aim for 100g of protein a day and I hit 1500 calories on a regular basis. My favorites are greek yogurt, low sodium roast beef, and my protein smoothies that I blend up for dinner every night. Those 3 things definitely provide the bulk of my daily protein.
  • I tend to spend between 45 minutes to an hour working out. And I usually average 10 calories burned per minute when I'm doing cardio or a personal training session, a bit less if I take a longer cooldown (like a 5 minute walk on the treadmill at the end). In terms of how many days a week, it varies. Sometimes it's 4 days,…
  • It depends on what your goal is. I lost the first 15 lbs between Sept-Dec 2009. Then I kicked my butt into gear, found MFP and lost the next 45 lbs between Feb-Oct 2010. Then I slowed down and lost 5 more pounds by the end of the year. Then I hit a wall at 10 lbs from my initial goal weight of 140. It took nearly 6 months…
  • That was my scenario the first half of last year. I had just moved to Virginia after college to start my job, no boyfriend, not a lot of friends in the area. It made it easier to focus on losing weight tho! Less temptations to eat bad food or drink, had lots of time for working out, etc. But I found that just by chatting…
  • I try to get up and walk around every hour or so, use the bathroom, refill my water bottle, etc. However, the biggest boost in energy that I got was just by working out on a daily basis. I workout after work, but I felt so much more energized in general and didn't feel exhausted all the time. As I lost more weight, it only…
  • Keep those weigh ins coming! It seems like we're missing a lot of people this week. Even if you gained, don't be afraid to log it and we're happy to help you get back on track!
  • I'm a bad example. I get on the scale a few times a day sometimes, but I keep track of what I weigh first thing in the morning when I'm at my lightest. I have an Excel spreadsheet that I use to track my daily weight, and every Thursday I record my weigh in on here. So I can see my overall loss for the week, but I also see…
  • I plateaued for about 6 months... so 2 weeks to me doesn't sound like a bad deal. I've only finally started losing again in the last 2 weeks. I had to really look at my eating habits and I cleaned them up entirely. My food diary is public. Basically I keep to less than 1500mg of sodium a day, get 100g of protein, and I…
  • Wow, what DOESN'T that list tell you not to eat?? I definitely eat some items on there, and the reason most of them are bad was sugar content. I've never really paid attention to sugar counts at all and I've still managed to lose 68 lbs. And those foods aren't bad for you in moderation, as are all foods. I like granola…
  • LOL!!!! At least you were in your house. I nearly had my "pants on da ground" but it was in the mall and it was because I was in dire need of new undies! hahaha, mission accomplished tho. I think you definitely need to have a shopping trip.
  • I don't let myself go nuts for a whole day, I've found it's counterproductive. I have cheat meals or cheat treats, but I'll try to balance it out with being healthy the rest of the day. If I'm going out to dinner with my boyfriend, I don't really track the calories in what I eat (can't really, they're local restaurants not…
  • I've learned that as well, I have a few exceptions. Special K came out with really yummy crackers and chips that give you 24-30 pieces for 110 calories. I love the chips as a snack to munch on, and the crackers are awesome to dip in hummus. Other than that, I avoid 100 calorie pack-type foods. I really don't mind a smaller…
  • I've had that too, and it has shrunk with time as I've worked on strength training and cardio. I was stuck for a while with my weight and now that I've been losing again it's going away. It's almost flat now when I stand up tall, but it's definitely taken a while to get to that point.
  • Chili!!! That's all I can make in my crock pot... haha. But Hungry Girl (www. hungry-girl.com) has a great low calorie recipe. I just swap out the vegetarian beef substitute with real ground beef. It's still healthy and delicious.
  • Week 13! Hopefully it's a lucky one for everyone! Slowly but surely I'm making my way downward through the 140s, FINALLY! Another 1.1 lbs gone this week, could have been a bit more if I went with what I weighed yesterday but I ate Panera for lunch and it tipped the scale upward a bit from yesterday morning. More of a loss…
  • I've been told it feels 15-20 degrees hotter when you run. So if it's 80 out, your body will feel like it's 95-100! I've tried to run in warmer weather and I just can't do it. I lose steam pretty quickly. I tend to prefer no higher than the 70s, and that's pushing it. If I run in the evenings, there's usually a breeze and…
  • I don't do it for health reasons, but I try to keep my sodium below 1500 as well. If you look at my diary you can see how I do it. I buy low sodium or no sodium products when possible, avoid frozen and prepackaged food when possible, and eat lots of fruit.
  • I Loveeee me the Shred. I did that last summer right around this time and I liked the results from it. And it was was actually got me interested in circuit training. After that I moved onto Chalean Extreme and that takes the Shred up a notch. I think it'll definitely help you though :)
  • OK, so if I'm interpreting all of the info in these posts correctly: The change from running 5 days a week to only 2 helped to break the plateau, but it doesn't matter if it was running or biking or whatever that I was doing before, my body just adapted and was in a steady state. So changing things up, be it to strength…
  • To answer a few questions: - I had gotten comfortable with my running pace, so I've been running intervals at 6.0 or 6.5 mph (my comfy pace is around 5.0) and that's helped to really push me. I've also had some trouble with allergies and my exercise asthma and not being able to give it my all when I run. - I do use an HRM…
  • I definitely have noticed a change in my body and I have built up my leg muscles running, but I definitely did it at the expense of not strength training much at all otherwise. And as for food and exercise calories, I have an HRM for when I work out. And I am quite accurate about my food. I measure and weight and usually…
  • It really depends. I started out a bit heavier than you (215 lbs) and I'm young (24), no kids. My skin has gone back most of the way by now, and I lost 67 lbs and counting. My stomach is starting to flatten out, but it doesn't look like a deflated balloon like I've seen other people get stuck with. I didn't do anything…
  • You are FANTASTIC!!! I seriously can hardly tell it's the same person, especially your face has changed so much! Those 15 lbs will come off at their own pace (speaking from my own experience as you know, haha) and enjoy the tiny body you have now!
  • That's amazing!!! 46 lbs in less than 6 months! Your before and after pictures are gonna be jaw dropping :)
  • Good morning! My official weigh in today... 147.9 lbs!!!!! WHOOT!!!! That's the first actual loss I've had in a while, and I've been below 148 for a few days now, I think it's sticking :) My boyfriend is out of town this weekend, so I have time to workout, hit the pool, and hopefully not get too out of my eating habits. I…
  • For once I'm excited for weigh in tomorrow! I can log at least a pound and a half lost as long as the scale doesn't change dramatically, and I've been in the 140s for an entire week! Whoot whoot!
  • I have one for dinner every night. Check out my food diary, but it's basically a scoop of Optimum Nutrition powder, a cup of soy milk light, 1/2 cup greek yogurt 0% fat, and some frozen fruit thrown in.
  • I read a book my aunt had called The Belly Fat Diet or something where you're limited to 6 servings of carbs and 15g of sugar (most of which is taken up by a single piece of fruit). I'm not really buying that cutting out sugar from good natural sources like fruit is gonna reduce belly fat, or fat from anywhere…
  • I always say that I lost all my insulation! I'm sitting at my desk at work right now with a heater fan pointed at me to stay warm!
  • I have about 7 lbs to go to my big goal of 140 and I've done exactly that. I've dropped my goal to 0.5 lbs a week and I get 1500 calories, which I aim to eat every day. I don't really eat back exercise calories at this point, but I've been getting lots of protein and I've been doing more strength training than cardio in…
