Most of my workouts are at 4:00pm, when I get off work. My daughter has to be picked up from daycare at 5:30 pm so I have a little over an hour to workout, usually running or biking. I feel kind of bad sometimes but she loves her school and I just can't do it in the morning. I am a senior in college and also work so by the…

Martha your posts always make me laugh! Hope you thoroughly enjoy your birthday this weekend! Berry--I kind of struggle with the same thing you are. I am really at my "GW" that I set for MFP but want to either lose a few more lbs or stay at this weight and tone up. But it's SO hard this time of the year--2 days this week…

I've gotten 1 to join who in turn got 2 others to join. All 3 are hit and miss with logging though...then they ask me what I did and I tell them daily logging on MFP...the next day I see "so and so has not logged in for 3 days." Oh well...

Thanks for all of the input! I would LOVE the Garmin 910XT but it's WAY out of my price range right now. I had wanted the 310XT for both running & biking but even it is out of the budget right now so I'm exploring buying separately to pull it into my price range. I am looking at the Forerunner 305 (used) if I can find one…

Exercise videos/DVDs that you can do inside your home should be effective enough to burn calories and improve your fitness on days you can't get to the gym. There are dozens of great programs: entire Jillian Michaels series, P90X, Insanity, other Beachbody programs, etc. You can use the search feature on MFP to find out…

Mine never hurt after icing, maybe a little stiff, but I stretch for a few minutes. You should only keep the ice on 20 minutes. If you need more, ice 20 minutes, take ice off 20 minutes, ice 20 minutes.

To date: Swim: 1 Mi Bike: 8 Mi Run: 19.5 Mi I better start hitting the bike! Ahhh

Yeah, like TheFranLover, I used Ultra swim until I just stopped caring. I constantly smelled like I had chlorine coming out of my pores anyways, so why not have the hair to match was my attitude. Now I just don't swim enough for it to hurt my hair. :frown:

I will use it for multisport only in triathlon races. I was looking at the 310XT for multisport but I think it'll be too expensive for Christmas this year so I'm looking at buying this for running and a separate, much cheaper cycling computer to watch my pace & distance there. The swim I don't care about anything except…

That's wonderful! I've heard it takes over 15 lbs and sometimes a lot more for others to notice, so don't worry. You'll get more & more NSVs like this!

obfischer--We will miss you and I'll be praying for you. Hoosiermomma--CONGRATS! & Share your recipe with us!! ashlee--it's a new day! Don't let that get you down! Jason--good job getting over your bad day and not letting it affect you long term! Martha--you have awesome abs already, it looks like! I did Ab Ripper X yesterday...seriously need to get on randomabs.com that you guys recommend because I am BORED with Ab Ripper X!

I do them a lot nowadays...not sure I can say if it works. I can feel my abs a lot more now that I am focusing on them 3 days per week, but they are still buried under fat. Working on getting my BF% down.

I cleaned out my cabinets & fridge! Feels good!!! I'm on a specific training plan and I can't really do anything new, but I am swimming tomorrow for the first time in like a month....

I'd love to know how to tape them, but I don't. Right now, I just use compression sleeves. I don't run with them on because it restricts the motion of my calf muscle, but I ice them and compress them after the run. Also, if you don't have an upcoming race, maybe take a week off of running. Do the elliptical, bike, swim,…

What training plans do you guys use? Galloway's, Higdon's, etc? I have 16 weeks until my half but I don't like a few plans I have seen where you don't actually run the full 13.1 until race day. I mentally need to have ran the full 13.1 before race day and I really want a plan that does that, but starts out at about 15…

Many 5K's and other races will have a race volunteer drive the course after the run and pick up all of the articles of clothing dropped along the course, then you can get your extra layers at a designated place, usually after awards. I would layer both of them to start, especially if you are like me and you have a hard…

I'm a mom of a busy 4 year old girl. I'm married, a full-time college student, and work part-time as well. I do triathlons but since it's off season, I am focusing on running. Just started training for my first half marathon. I strength train as well, but not as much as I should. I just reached my GW this week and I'm…

I've done a few little ab circuits every other day, but I had to go out of town Thursday for a family emergency. I've spent the last few days in the waiting room at a hospital feeling very out of shape, but I did run and squeeze in 2 sets of: [20 crunches, 30 bicycle crunches, 20 scissor kicks] this morning before coming…

To date: Swim: 0 Mi Bike: 8 Mi Run: 16.5 Mi Had a family emergency this week and I'm out of town now, so I just got in a quick run before returning to the hospital this morning. I was going to swim Thursday night and had a long bike ride scheduled for tomorrow, but those 2 sports are still on hold until I get home. Hoping…

I feel better when I go over 8 cups per day, but can't say it does anything for my skin.

I wasn't able to swim this week due to family emergencies but I'll make up this challenge next week.

Hi everyone! I'm Britta, a 21 yr old from Arkansas. I was a competitive swimmer all my life until college, then gained almost 30 lbs. Just got to my GW last week. I started doing 5K's last November and did my first sprint tri in June. I did another in August and a team tri in September (I swam). I just finished my first…

I also only have a mtb now but am buying a bike in December. I don't do group rides and I have no plans to do a century ride or any cycle-only races. It will only be used for tri-training and tri-races. In that case, would a tri specific bike be better in your opinion? What are the big differences?
-
THIS. I swam for 14 yrs competitively and cannot agree more. Only in a sprint in a pool would you ever swim flat, as that video recommends, which means never in open water/tri swimming. In the open water, you will conserve a lot of precious energy by rotating your body and breathing to the side. Practice sighting only to…

I also have a goal to do a race in every state. I've only done races in my home state so far, but I have 2 states lined up for next year (New Orleans R&R half--as part of American Cancer Society's DetermiNATION) and the World's Highest Hill 5 miler in OK(1999 ft up!). I also really want to do the NYC, Chicago, and Disney.…
