My husband makes "Hulk" jokes about my arms (when we met I had some serious arm muscles from swimming & lifting) but they don't "intimidate" him as in "turn him off."

I bought a belt and used my "big" clothes until they looked ridiculous. I then bought a ton of clothes when I hit my GW, but have since gone down another size and I'm kind of annoyed because I spent so much money. On the "in between sizes" when I was still losing weight, I only bought clearance or from a consignment shop…

Welcome to the new members! Hope everyone has a happy and HEALTHY super bowl day! I'm making Salsa Crock Pot Chicken today and we'll have tortilla chips & salsa with it. Balancing the side dish with the main dish is a good way to keep from overindulging. What's on your menus for Super Bowl? For a challenge, let's all do…

I do take water with me if it's over 4 miles, my water bottle holds 12 oz and I space it out with a drink about every 2 miles (which is what my HM has available). I have tried Hammer gel once but I had it very late in the run so I wouldn't have had time to see if it was okay for me or not. Thanks for all the tips!

Thanks everyone! I'll try the Immodium next weekend. I felt really light headed while running today even with a banana, so I don't think I can go on completely empty stomach, but if Immodium isn't working, I'll have to try that. Anyone else have advice?

Randomabs.com has different ab workouts every day. They are always different and have a large variety of different ab moves, complete with a video of how to do each workout. They're pretty good workouts, although sometimes they say like "repeat 3 times" and I need to do it 4 times or do more reps to "feel the burn"

Swimming: 4x100 on 1:30 for the main set Biking: Not a "set" but a route that is actually the triathlon bike route for 2 of the tri's I do, and the hills are RIDICULOUS. Running: The long run is what kills me right now (in training for my first half marathon). Interesting to see the other killer workouts you guys do!

I'm in for 70 miles.

Ended the month with 124.5 miles!

Through 1/31 Goals for January: Swim: 2.4 miles Bike: 56 miles (Half IM distance...I know the wind chill will keep me from getting out a lot) Run: 75 miles (81 miles on my training plan but realistically know I'll get sick and miss a run or two) Totals: Swim: 0 miles Bike: 49.2 miles Run: 75.3 miles Swimming just wasn't…

I'm up to 49.5 miles for the month/year. Not quite on track but I knew I'd start out behind because I'm a winter weather wimp

11 mile run Saturday, total 16 miles for the week and I should be at 69.3 miles for the month. Running Monday and Tuesday to make my 75 mi goal for the month!

Do different "sets." (these laps/yds assume you are in a 25 yd pool, adjust as needed). Instead of doing 8 laps (200 yds), do 4 x 50 yds. Change up your strokes and do 4 x 50 yds with each 50 being a different stroke. Alternate freestyle and backstroke on your laps. Do some kick sets with a kick board to keep you from…

5 mile run today.

Total of 93.5 miles for the month...so close! Go get it these last few days team!

It doesn't make you actually bow-legged. As you run and lose weight and those muscles form, it creates more of the "gap" between your thighs but it's just because the fat isn't there anymore. Actually being bow-legged would mean it changed your bone structure and I'm fairly sure that can't happen past age 3 anyways, let…

My first half will be RnR New Orleans in March. I think it's estimated at 16,000 participants?

I am doing my first duathlon this summer as part of a Triathlon Series and I know several of the triathletes and tri clubs in the area are doing it as well, so I would assume tri clubs in other areas welcome duathletes as well. Most people I know who do duathlons cite the same thing you did: they do not enjoy swimming at…

I don't swim with music, mainly because I grew up as a swimmer and there's no way coach would let us do that. I was focusing on getting through his ridiculous workouts back then, but now I distract myself by doing shorter sets. I can't focus for a straight 800 yds like I did back then, but 4 x 200's doesn't seem near as…

Cookie: I really can't say what type of shoe you would need, and I am an overpronator so I have the stability shoes. I got fitted at a running store last March. I have Asics and they cost about $110 at the running store. I've since bought the same shoes for about $65 at Academy Sports & Outdoors because I love the shoes…

I missed it for my weekend run because I immediately left for vacation after my run, but I am at 53.3 total miles for the month through Saturday 1/21. Just got back today from vacation so no miles for this week yet.
