Ok so my BMR req with the calculator was 1,535.91... so not too far off from MFP I guess, my daily req was set to 1500 to lose 1 lb per week with a lightly active daily level. But when I put in my daily requirement in the other calculator (http://www.calculatorpro.com/daily-calorie-calculator), it says my daily calories…

That means your daily activity level WITHOUT exercise is lightly active... which I assume is moderate standing/walking during the day.

I guess I'm more interested in someone who weighs the same but one person has 10% BF and the other has 30%, with exactly the same daily activity level... wouldn't the BMR cals required be hugely different?
-
A lot of places say that more muscle % means higher BMR, because at rest muscle burns more than at rest fat.... I was just kind of wondering what BF% MFP uses as a baseline? Because my BF% is 30%, and that is neither normal or extremely huge, and I would think that my BMR would be affected by that number. Or is it…

I think what you want to be gone is the fat, not the weight. Muscle weighs a lot for it's volume, and if you are working out you are probably gaining muscle. Don't be upset about the weight now. Losing the weight without muscle tone looks JUST as bad as having the extra 15 lbs in fat. Don't be concerned! Tone that body and…

So I've had on and off issues with different kinds over the years... (small, big, cystic, etc) and I have done a little research on why acne happens, and if you try to treat each issue, you may find one that works. One thing that I found that has worked for me- Yeast overgrowth - this is a new one for me that has saved me!…

Usually the body induces vomiting based on something not being right... If you think about it, why would a living body force itself to reject the nutrients is just acquired? Vomiting may seem trivial, but it means that your body NEEDED it to happen based on some imbalance. Try eating a little bit of carbs before a workout…

You can't target areas to lose fat. You have to reduce your overall bodyfat % to reduce anywhere, and everyone's body stores it differently. Cardio works best for losing BF%! And strength exercises make whats left over look *good* :) I have a feeling you will lose inches everywhere to start, but your stomach will lose the…

I will try a knee brace. I'm super trigger-shy though, because when it goes out it can be pretty painful and swell for a few days. The whole body suggestion is a good one, I didn't think about it that way. Thank you! Any advice on how to start? Do I just set it to a weight and see how long I can do it for? Like you said,…

Double check with your doctor about your vitamin D and iron. Tell him about your new lifestyle and see if you can get another blood test. I had low vitamin D one fall and it hit my like a ton of bricks... I seriously couldn't do anything without feeling exhausted and I SHOULD have been able to. My iron gets low at the time…

I am very pale and my skin shows redness and spots for WEEKS after I have a blemish, so I almost always put it on if I am going out, unless I have had a rare month where I have no spots. BF doesn't care either way, and if I am with family or home I usually don't bother. I feel like the clearer complexion it gives me helps…

Oh haha, I just didn't want to get into the fact that I am addicted to coffee, and want an espresso beverage with milk tonight :) Maybe some chocolate.... never whipped cream though and 2% milk always. Mochas and Lattes are my weaknesses :) Thanks for you advice! That exactly what I had been thinking.

Start a journal about what the perfect YOU is on the inside. When you are feeling especially depressed, like today, write in side how you are feeling and try to explain to yourself why you think you are feeling that way. Did you have a bad day? Get cut off in traffic, have a headache; lots of little things adding up to…

Are you in the southern US? I live there and food is a strangely huge part of the social stigma here. If you don't eat something someone brings, much less MAKES themselves, it can be seen as a huge affront. The taking a doggie bag home for later is a great idea. If they still insist you eat, tell them your doctor has you…

Naked really isn't "a juice", it's more of a fruit frappe. It has juices in it, but not in the way that typical juices do. They don't last long on the shelves because of the amount of actual fruit in them, rather than just sugar and water. One serving of the green machine juice (my favorite) has 28g of sugar... but a…

Thanks all! The recipe I referenced calls for lots of veggies, I'm sure kale would be great! I think the only way the color of lentils would matter is based on your taste or if they required a different type of prep (like soaking, apparently) I did not soak my lentils, I used a pre-soaked brand I think.... mine turned out…

Awesome progress! I read your profile, I feel like we are on very similar pages... I just started tracking a few days ago, and seeing your progress makes me feel even more motivated! I am also trying to reverse my weight gain before my 30s. You have done amazing and you make me feel like I can do the same!

Ohhhh interesting... I just briefly skimmed the net for a recipe I could reference for the thread, I didn't go that far into it... AWESOME!

Part of my decision to lower my bodyfat has been hormonal issues! I have symptoms similar to PCOS but don't seem to actually have it. I'm pretty sure it's related to my 30%BF... Anyway, congrats on having that improvement!! Has it just been from eating right or exercise too?
-
Yeah there's no way I would use the exact recipe, but its an amazingly great idea!

Debacle ;) And here is something I am dying to try for breakfast... muffin tin scrambled eggs!! Make a pan and then warm them up each morning and eat on the go! I won't be using many of the traditional recipes, but I think you could make your own and follow the baking times for reference. I would want to use it with egg…

Thanks, and I fully realize that my current diet as is is not optimal, but I just started so its going to be a little bit until I get groceries and get into a good routine. Logging the bad days is just as important as the good ones. I'm not trying to ask for evidence to support my issues with processed food, rather…

Thanks all. How do I set protein higher in mfp? And I know I need to start modifying my diet from processed, hence the beginning to track. I'm just curious if there are things on mfp that are ok to be over on. Protein sounds like it is one of them... fiber too? And why is sodium so bad? Besides water retention I guess,…

Thank you everyone, it is nice to hear that it's not about huge steps, its about a lot of small ones. Minnie, thank you for sharing your thoughts! The idea about the weekly goals sounds awesome, I am surprised I didn't think of it that way already. It's probably because I felt like if the goal was small it wasn't worth…

Thanks cherbear! Maritza, I don't know what I would do if I had to find time in your life!! I feel bad since I have a relatively large amount of free time but can never seem to set any aside to DO something active (or don't feel good enough to do anything). I know many people have it much harder than I do, but I think we…

Thanks kbutler! 126siany, I can agree with the observation that I am a perfectionist... I guess I feel like if I put myself through something uncomfortable, only to have it not work, then I will be more upset than if I had not done it at all. Strange personal flaw that is surprisingly hard to overcome for me. Does anyone…
