  • Thanks! This gives me some hope that my grip strength may get better... I used to wear gloves years ago, but don't do so today. I just keep the pumice stone near by!
  • Dear Posters: If we can't keep the debate mutually respectful, we will have no choice but to lock the thread. Please read the MFP Community Guidelines and ensure your posts are compliant: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/welcome/guidelines Thanks in advance for your help. With Respect, _Sally_ MFP Forum Moderator
  • this reminds me of the caulifower popper recipe from weight watchers - it's yummy! Ingredients: 1 spray(s) cooking spray 1 head(s) (medium) uncooked cauliflower 1/2 tsp ground cumin 1/2 tsp chili powder, or more to taste 1/2 tsp table salt 1/2 tsp black pepper Instructions Preheat oven to 400°F. Coat a baking sheet with…
  • ^^ This. I have both. If I had to choose only one to start with, I would go with a good HRM, as this calculates calorie burn more accurately, in general. However, I love how Fitbit motivates me to move more (walk, take stairs, etc.... anything to reduce the sedentary portion of my day) The interface between MFP and Fitbit…

  • I don't think the forearms are literally parallel to the ground. I do this move with no problem and I just checked my form in the mirror to see what is going on and my elbows are moving forward, and move forward even more when I squat - moving toward parallel to the ground - but they never achieve parallel to the ground. I…
  • I successfully did calorie cycling, using the free calculator here: http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm I tend to set my activity level for sedentary and add back my exercise calories (and eat them back). In MFP, I set my goal to the lowest calorie day, and then created custom exercises in MFP for each…
  • Dear Posters, I'm locking this thread as I think it has strayed from the OP's original intent. For those who haven't read the whole thread (and understand that the OP is under doctor supervision), it may come across as a possible violation of MFP Community Guideline: 3. No Promotion of Unsafe Weight-Loss Techniques or…
  • Dear Posters, This thread has been locked and may be deleted in the near future. Please refer to the following MFP Community Guideline: 3. • Great post! I'm starting stage 2 tomorrow
  • Dear Posters, This is a gentle reminder to please keep topic debates mutually respectful. You can contribute differing opinions and respectfully disagree, but no insults or personal attacks. If you see a post that violates the guidelines, please use the Report Post link so a moderator can review. Do not reply to the post.…
  • Dear Posters, I'm locking this thread as it looks to have run its course and there is only room left for a small number of posters to argue, in not always a mutually respectful manner. This thread may be deleted in the near future. Please take a moment to read the community guidelines in full here:…
  • This is just a normal adjustment period, so hang in there! Here are some top of mind thoughts for consideration: The key is to maximize your nutrients and things that make you feel full within the budget of a smaller number of calories. It gets to be a bit of a game after a while, so consider it a challenge and have fun…
  • FYI... don't be scared off by the love/hate relationship posted by some sweep rowers/crew folks. I also rowed on the water competitively (master's community rowing club) and we all seem to have shared memories of gut wrenching, extremely anaerobic speed drills on the ergs that our coaches pushed us for in preparation for…
  • I vote for Rower, for sure. I have a Concept 2 Model 2. If you get a rower, regardless of brand, I encourage you to utilize the community, workouts, challenges and training videos on their website. www.concept2.com Being a part of a community will help you get your meters in :-) It may be hard to get your heart rate up on…
  • WOW. WOW. You can also probably do a great side by side with your current pic and the pic of you weighing 10lbs+ less (149). It's amazing how you have transformed your body and defied the myth that a lower number on the scale is always better. Congrats! You are such an inspiration!
  • Don't forget to take measurements, so that you are not going only by what the scale says in measuring your progress. You can do it!
  • No hijacking of the thread, please. If all we are going to be talking about now is grass and twigs in a slightly veiled attempt at making fun of other posts in the thread, it may indicate that this topic has run its course.... Thanks for understanding. _Sally_ MFP Forum Moderator
  • Some opinions for consideration. ** Regarding Cardio exercises ** NROL4W pg 125: "Doing intervals, or even some modest endurance exercise, could be beneficial. But it could just as easily interfere with your recovery from the weight workouts. Or you could experience anything in between. There are no rules that apply to…
  • You don't have to cut out cardio, but it makes a difference if you make lifting your main priority. So for example, you wouldn't generally do cardio right before lifting weights since you need your energy for lifting, but some light cardio after lifting or on your non-lifting days is great for minimizing soreness from…
  • This is not an HCG thread... please no hijacking. With Respect, _Sally_ MFP Forum Moderator (BTW - my post here has nothing to do with the reference to ACG in the post immediately above this one.... in case anyone is doing a quick read and got confused! )
  • Are you going to bed hungry? I find it helps me if I have a cup of soy milk (unsweetened, plain), skim milk, plain ff yogurt, a lowfat cheese stick, etc. - some other small snack with some protein in it within an hour before going to bed. I personally can't sleep when I'm hungry.
  • Dear Posters, Vigorous debate on topics is certainly an acceptable use of the MFP forums. People sharing alternate views, even passionately, should not be viewed as "negativity" in and of itself. HOWEVER, I just want to remind folks to please share your opinions (and/or research references) without personally attacking…
  • I'd like to remind users that there is an "Ignore User" option under a poster's name (use the down arrow), which will make their posts not viewable to you. This may be a better option than engaging in a back and forth that can escalate, if you find the posts of someone irritating or not helpful to the discussion. With…
  • Dear Posters, Please be aware that requesting medical advice or diagnosis in our forums is not a safe alternative to consulting with your physician or emergency care provider. In many countries, including the US, it is actually considered an ethics violation for medical professionals to respond to such posts. The…
  • Any book like this is giong to be geared towards a very broad audience. I assumed the program started with high reps (which means relatively not so heavy weight) assuming folks are starting from a lifting base of zero. This gives them a way to focus on their form and to learn the exercises before challenging themselves…
  • Awesome! It does feel great, doesn't it??

  • I use Trader Joe's cage free liquid egg whites (carton) and I think they taste pretty good. This is how I can get more protein without all of the calories of using full eggs and the mess of separating out the egg whites from whole eggs. For scrambled eggs, it usually tastes better to add a whole egg with your egg whites.
  • Dear Posters, There are MFP Community Forum Guidelines (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/welcome/guidelines) that outline appropriate forum topics and behaviors. The very first guideline is against insulting or attacking other users as well as reciprocating. MFP has a set of volunteer moderators that try our best to educate…
