I like to make a trifle or angel food cake topped with fresh fruit and Cool-Whip. Most everyone can enjoy these sweets, and they are low-cal (relatively) so I don't feel guilty.

Going to Thanksgiving dinner with the mindset that I will go over my a caloric number. Having said that, I am going to the gym (and if it isn't open, I am going to run a few miles) prior to leaving. Lord knows, I won't want to work out after! In the morning, I will have my usual oatmeal and flaxseed only later.…

I buy mine at Safeway/Vons. The brand is Bob's Red Mill.

Sorry to hear about that...but it is HIS class reunion. Do you think that maybe you may be making this all about you when it is really about your husband? Just a thought...you could do something else to celebrate...like take some of the money you would have spend and buy yourself a new dress or treat yourself to mani and…

I agree that the task of agreeing and/or voting on a book would be ardous. I LOVE books, but realistically, there are some I just don't want to read. Marely and Me is one I would NEVER pick-up, because it doesn't fit my personal taste. But that is okay, I don't expect every choice to fit my taste. I am postive we could all…

I  a cheese sandwhich-hence not much since this whole calorie counting thing. (for a while I was obessed with the 3 cheese panini (with tea) at Barnes and Noble. I am talking everyday. still was able to lose weight, so go figure, maybe I should include more cheese sandwhiches...)

I feel you... Now that I am back at work, what has worked for me is scheduling my workouts as an extension of my workday. That means as soon as I get home, I put on my exercise cloths and head to the gym straight-away, no excuses. Before I joined a gym, it was put on the exercise cloths and head outside to run striaght…

Miss Anna Banana (love you screen name-makes me smile everytime I see it) I think you should keep track of the measurements that work for you or the ones that you are concerned about. I keep track of those meausrements in addition to one I named as "low hip" because I am pear shaped. My hip measurement (measuring 7 inches…

What if you just start by cutting your caloric intake? You will still lose weight. Once that becomes routine for you, then you can layer in exercise (like going for a walk with the hubby and baby). Good Luck:flowerforyou:

I think the hardest part is friends/family/workmates giving you looks or making comments on what you eat. In some ways your success can highlight their failure if they have weight/food issues themselves. In addition, change is scary...they know you as the you you have always been and this new you, well, they don't know…

I bought the Polar F11 on the Amazon website for $160.00 with free shipping. I love it-i know exactly how many exercise calories I can consume and it alerts me when I need to increase/decrease my heart rate.

Happy Birthday! In my opinion, one only slows down when once stops being active. (30 and loving it!)

you should read the post for newbies-I saw it yesteday in the "general discussion." If you aren't consuming enough calories to compensate for the amount you are burning and MFP has already selected out for you, then you could be starving yourself. You body wants to be healthy, and it will get (and hold on to) what you give…

I have yet to figure this one out as I tend to not care for the non-fat, low-fat alternatives of anything hence no more cappuccino and chai tea lattes for me! (until I find a good alternative) But if you find something worthy-let us know! I had to switch to black tea. (it still has the caffine)

What do you really like about yourself? Flaunt that. It won't fix all those times you feel terrible about how you look, but it certainly helps. And you are still here-that is positive-give yourself some credit! Changing one's behavoir takes time and a lot of hard work.

I feel you-I do have issues with losing motivation (and binge-eating). This group is very supportive; whereas in the past, I would just continue with this self-sabatoging behavoir (as it always happens after I begin to feel really good about myself) now I find it much easier to get back in the game after a much shorter…

I am intersted, but what are the ground rules for the book chosen? What I mean is what is the theme of your book club? (I know that may have come off a bit snob-ish, but theme will decied the type of books choosen)

You are thinking way too much-I understand since you are a math/science kinda guy (I live with a Math Phd) Make it easy and just calculate the total bag as if every single kernal popped. Dont worry about the kernels that didn't pop and to eat them or not to eat them and how that affects the total caloric count. I mean you…

I have seen it-the title turned me right off. Your assessment makes me think that my orginal assessemnt-not worth picking up to read the back-was not off the mark. Thanks for the review

I like to wear my l lace "booties" with my open toed shoes. I have gotten more than a few compliments. I have purchased really cute crocheted tights to carry it over in the Fall. Then again, I have my own style and I don't really care what people think! Flaunt it girl!

You definately have to make enough money to pay your bills! (And retail is not for everyone) I worked comission as a hairstylist for a long time, and it is really tough. People cut back on luxuries when they either aren't or do not feel the economy is doing well. Let's face it a haircut (or color) and a new pair of shoes…

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I love a nice smelling man :blushing: ...I prefer Obession for Men or Ralph Lauren Romance for Men (the black bottle).

Very weird:huh: ...I had posted earlier about training to run a Half Marathon. Well, I picked-up the mail, and I have a mailing from www.treamtraining.org! It seems to be a charity program that benefits The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. From what I understand, you can train for half marathon, marathon or triathalon while…

STOP...do not try to fix it yourself! I know you are not happy with what you have now, but you need a professional to "fix" what you have. Trust me on this one. I was a hairstylist for 7 years, and I have fixed more mistakes than I can count.. Most places (and you paid $170.00 so it should be that kind of place) will fix…

I don't have children, so I am not expert. I know all a lot of people that will say spanking is child abuse and about as many that will say every child needs to be spanked once in a while. But I do believe children need consistent boundries, lots of love and for their parents to be their parents (as opposed to their…

I am going to train for a Half Marathon. sometime Spring 2009. My twin and I have been talking about this for years. I put the call out to my sister Time to step it up. I need a challenge. I get paid at the end of the month, so I will buy shoes then. In the meantime, I am researching how best to get started and…

that is so cute!

I have the opposite probelm. I almost never reach the Fat amount shown on MFP. I almost always consume fats below the Fat measurement. Usually quite below. Unless, I eat a lot of nuts or make non-healthy choices. For protien I usually consume skinless chicken breasts, eggs, and beans. Any ides for increasing the fat…

I worked retail, in management, for several years and before that I was a hairstylist for several years...I am sorry, but I had to laugh about your customer. It brought back some customer service memories. I can laugh about them now. Customers have no right to treat the store and its employees with disrepect. I had no…

I like Sunflower Seeds on long road trips' the kinds with their shells. They are healthy (you can buy them unsalted), and taking the seed out of the shell keeps my mouth busy. Really good if you are driving late at night and need to stay awake.
