  • 5 3" here, goal weight 115 or so (really I am aiming for body fat of 17-18% with an inch shaved off my waist and thighs). Got down to 118 but bounced back up in the last few weeks. Trying to get down permanently but plateauing and unsure about calories. There are a lot of threads like this but I think I've joined them all!…
  • What's worse than the trouble of entering my own recipes is when I eat someone else's food (like my husband or mom's) and they say they put "a little of this, a little of that". You can guesstimate it but there's no way to KNOW:frown:
  • I forgot to say thanks again, SHBoss, sorry about that. Since nothing else is working I'm going to try a week or 2 at 1350 and be super careful with my measurements
  • I think you mean, should you subtract your bmr/24 from the total burn for a one hour exercise. The strict answer is yes, but most of the time your heart rate stays sufficiently elevated afterwards to burn that extra little bit since for many the bmr per hour is about 50-80 cals.

  • I'm having the same problem deciding. My weight went up a bit with increased calories so I freaked out and dropped them down again, but I am thinking about giving it another shot. I went from 118 in April to 124 within a few weeks and it hasn't gone away so I assume it's fat I have to lose again. Problem is, nothing seems…
  • Of course it's best to get a HRM. But I turbo jam is kickboxing, although the burn is a little exaggerated on here. The firm I would log as circuit training

  • This is interesting, how can you prove eating more is good without knowing if people are being successful at their weight loss bid? Maybe they can't lose at the amount they're eating? Anyway, here's mine: Age: 33 Sex: F Height: 5'3 Weight: 125 Body Fat: 20.9 navy, 18 digital calipers (but done myself) Calories: was doing…
  • Bump! Nobody else? I don't buy it :indifferent:
  • :noway: Wow, why are you combining insanity with additional cardio? Seems like you did plenty! I do Insanity workouts every now and again. I did one round but may never do a second in its entirety unless it's a hybrid. I think it's a great program but hard on the body.
  • oooh, I LOOOOVE chips (especially tortilla and potato) and pirate booty, etc. I had a dream last night I was binging on greasy kettle-style potato chips  It would be good for me to give that up but NOT popcorn. I have decided I will not give up popcorn or cheese in this weight loss journey unless I break out in…
  • Gonna veto this one except for people with 30+ pounds to lose. Why? I need to eat 1939 cals to maintain my current weight, and 1830 to maintain my ultimate low goal weight that is ten pounds lighter. This gives me a deficit of 91 cals a day! One trip to a restaurant in a week or mismeasurement or lazy day and that deficit…
  • Aren't you sweet?! Tell her to go to longhaircareforum.com, it has all kinds of info on going natural, etc. Buy her a year's subscription for $6.50 (I swear I don't work for them, just a member for years). She'll love it!
  • Welcome jrdoty! I am sorry to hear about the occasional hurtful things your spouse says. Mine also loses weight at the drop of a dime; he's one of those annoying people that forgets to eat or won't eat if he's stressed or pissed off, and I'm the opposite. He got a half-gallon of delicious ice cream from my favorite local…
  • I feel you. I have ignored my hair for about 2 years now while getting into shape. I wear it natural in two-strand twists or a twist-out puff, but my hair is thin so I prefer added hair. However, hubby is not only against chemicals, he is against added hair AND he loves when I wear my hair straight. Now that I'm more in…
  • Me, me, I want to join!!! - how long you've been married/together? 12 years as a couple, married for 5 - what are your current and goal weights? 125; 115-118 - what issues are you having with your spouse with regard to weight loss? Hubby is naturally lean and thinks people can stay thin as long as they work out. He gets…
  • Yup, it's lower 'cause you're healthier. I have similar stats. Now it's not good if you feel lightheaded when you stand up, or if your pulse goes up. Otherwise, it's a great blood pressure.

  • This is why they say not to eat out on a diet. I love to eat out but in California there's a new rule about calories being on the menu and it's shocking how easily one can go over calories! Not to mention the fact that these counts are likely their lowest estimates! :noway: I feel your pain, but you'll be fine.
  • teehee I do it all the time. It's a little easier in the ER when people actually think they might die as opposed to a routine clinic visit. I call those minutes of sheer terror a "teachable moment". Seeing all the health problems that arise from obesity, deconditioning, and a poor diet is VERY motivating for me...
  • You should go back to hip hop abs or maybe try another beach body program. Insanity is particularly good for the abs. Remember to pull your belly button in towards your stomach when exercising, especially during ab work. The vacuum is a good exercise for your transverse abdominus, which helps hold the belly in, it's…
  • where did you get 100lbs from? Were you that weight before? Just seems kinda low...
  • I wouldn't mind losing a little leg muscle since my jeans are a little snug at the moment. :ohwell: Are you saying 1200-1300 and not eating exercise cals? I know a girl on another thread that is doing well is averaging 1000 net, I am thinking of going that way I am currently set for 40/40/30, 60/20/20 would be super hard…
  • Thanks SHBoss, I'm not going to cut the strength training completely, just back off a little to lighter weights to maintain rather than grow. I don't get it, even with eating exercise cals and 1300 I was not averaging over 1800, even if off by 500 calories. So why have I gained so much? So frustrating!
  • nobody huh? Not even the thread originator? Maybe I need to get a bodybugg or something....
  • I agree you'd have to drink a ton of water to stay hydrated. Besides increased water, lemon water and veggies mentioned above, dandelion root and/or cranberry tea work great (Yogi makes a great one for TOM called Cranberry weightless). Also of course you want to eat low sodium for a week leading up to the event. Hope that…
  • OP what did you do and did it work? I figured I'd just bump this thread since I have the same issue. I am 5'3 with a small frame. I weighed 116-120 after doing 1200+hrm exercise cals and plateaued. Then I started strength training more intensely (heavy sets 3X/week) with high intensity cardio like HIIT and turbofire and…
  • We should totally dress sexier more often. I was talking about the video vixens in the original thread, how confident they are. The other day hubby and I went to a sports bar and the hostess had on a short black dress with high boots. I felt jealous, but then hubby said " no one here has a better body than you, you should…
  • Why do you think your weight went up? The same thing happened to me without a drastic diet change. I reached 116 then went to the 120s, want to be under 120 again too. Is it just a numbers thing or do you feel you really gained fat?
  • I know what you mean. I have been at a plateau and am trying to increase my calories in case it helps but in the back of my mind I wonder if I'm not losing because I've been underestimating cals. I use a HRM and try to use a scale when I cook but many times my husband cooks and when we go out to dinner it's usually a guess…
  • My butt has gotten much smaller and tighter since I started working it. Squats and lunges are great, but the best workout ever is Brazilian Butt Lift from Beachbody. It was designed by one of the Victoria Secret model's trainers. My hubby marvels at how much my butt has changed on a weekly basis since I did this program.…
