I am in the same boat as you, and there are a lot of us on here paddling along with us. It can be very discouraging trying to lose weight. I was 293 at my known highest, started at 286.8 and am floating at the high 260s/low 270s right now. I started out dropping pounds fast - too fast - and my body revolted and now I am…

I think of it this way: I didn't gain this weight overnight. I'm not going to lose it overnight either. You can't expect to wish the weigh away. You can't go to sleep one night and expect to wake up the next morning with a perfect and ideal body. This is not a race with a finish line and you cannot expect sudden results.…

Put them in the stroller and take them to the mall or something. Don't try to start out too fast or walk too far at first. You burn more calories pushing a stroller, especially with two kids, than you do just walking by yourself. Or, take them to the park and let the older one play while you walk laps around the playground…

Agreed! I love it!

I have The Biggest Loser for Wii and I love it. I started it 2 weeks ago and use it 3x a week and then workout on my own 3x a week and I have been seeing results. I don't particularly like the Wii Fit program, but Biggest Loser is awesome. You can choose a 4, 8, or 12 week fitness challenge, input calories consumed and…

I totally understand. I love roller coasters and tried to go on one at Busch Gardens that had a pull down harness that connected to a seat belt like strap that buckled between the legs. On top of being overweight, I have a huge chest and couldn't get my triple Ds into the harness. It took 4 guys trying to push it down far…

I agree wholly. If you start losing more than 2lbs a week, you body can go crazy and you can start having serious health problems - especially digestive problems like gallbladder attacks and such. You don't want to end up hospitalized or something drastic like that. Aiming too high with weight loss can be dangerous. Aim…

I use a tape measure I got from the sewing and crafts section of the store. Works just fine.

It's absolutely normal. I'm 3 weeks into my lifestyle change and for the past week and a half I was going up and down and then back up. I'm starting to go down again. My doctor told me that when you make a drastic change like this (and anytime you change your eating habits, it's a drastic change to your body), your body…

I just went to the doctor 2 days ago for this very problem. For me, it was a spastic colon. Your colon is what absorbs water from your waste and forms your bowel movements (bms). If you suddenly change your diet, your colon will get confused and can either overwork (constipation and hard bms) or underwork (diarrhea and…

I was diagnosed in 2000. Every pill they put me on (and there were a lot) made me sick or left me unable to lead a normal life (due to constant doctor's appointment for blood tests and ultrasounds and such). I'm now 31, almost done with college (FINALLY!) and my husband and I would like to start having children before I…

I understand completely. They are building a new student recreation center on our campus because the current gym is awful and filled with the athletes training for this or that. I am taking summer classes so I am trying to get my routine down now. I saw someone today on the recumbent bike with a textbook open on the panel…

I go on a walk for an hour every evening. It's great "me" time, relieves stress, and helps burn the calories. I used to be a runner, but at this weight (I'm 272 now with 293 being my highest and 287 being my starting point), the impact kills my knees. I use the treadmill at the gym when it's too hot or raining and I set…

When I started exercising, it felt horrible! I was sore, achy, exhausted... I'm 2 1/2 weeks in and now I am energized, I can concentrate on tasks a lot better, and I'm sleeping so much better. I've never been a morning person but I find myself waking up at 7am feeling ready to go. It takes a while for you to adjust and…

I actually use the Biggest Loser Game for the Wii and I love it. It's structured, challenging, and quite fun. You don't need any additional equipment and you can use it without the WiiFit balance board. I also walk 2-3 miles a day (though I've missed the last two days due to being sick), and will be starting a Zumba class…

We use the 8" salad plates instead of the 12" dinner plates now and it has really helped our portioning.

Went to the doctor and he said it was mainly adjustment issues causing a spastic colon. He prescribed fiber supplements and a muscle relaxer and said it will correct itself in a couple of weeks.

I start a one a week for 5 weeks course on the 28th. Counting the days!

Since this is a project for a class, we don't have to have a huge sample population but it does have to be randomized. I'm going to shoot for as large as I can reasonably analyze in the short amount of time I have in this class (it's an 8 week class and 6 weeks is spent on the project).
-
The study will draw from a randomized sample of population. This is just a preliminary question to give me some ideas how to structure the study. We're supposed to submit our idea and justification for the idea to the professor in the next couple of weeks so I'm just doing an unofficial survey to help me with my…

I posted this same question on Facebook and the only friend that has undergone a huge weight loss was the only one to mimic this response. The rest are pretty much saying it wouldn't matter to them. Hmmm...

I sent you a friend request. I'm trying to lose this extra person I'm carrying around before next December, so I have a feeling I'm going to be here for a looooooong time! I have a habit of going hard core for a week and then slacking off after that because it's not working fast enough for me. I'm 2 weeks in now and still…

Wow! I noticed the 6pack immediately!

When I go walking, here's what I have playing: Akon - Smack That All-American Rejects - Gives You Hell Barenaked Ladies - Another Postcard Billy Joel - Piano Man Blue October - Dirt Room, Jump Rope, X Amount of Words, Say It, Into the Ocean Counting Crows - Mr. Jones Dave Matthews Band - So Much To Say, Too Much, Everyday…

If you are wanting to lose the last 10 pounds for aesthetics, then stop trying to lose the 10 pounds and work on toning up. You will gain muscle (which is heavier than fat) and lose fat so your weight may stay the same or slightly go up, but you will look better. Add weight training in with your cardio. You will see a huge…

I've browsed around the disk, but I'm not sure if you can. You enter in your stats and then choose a 4 week, 8 week, or 12 week challenge and it sets everything for you. I chose the 4 week challenge to get started. I think as you go, it may get longer and more intense. The first day with "light" yoga, and I admit, it…

I had a Curves membership years ago and loved it. I used it for about 3 months and lost over 30lbs. It was easy for me to use, though, because I worked in Hampton, VA, and liked in Norfolk, VA, and the commute through the tunnel during rush hour was anywhere from 1 to 3 hours. I would go workout after I got off of work…

A dietician told me that to help with cravings, up your water intake and chew sugar free gum. However, I know it doesn't always help. I've been trying to do 100 to 150 calorie snacks every 2 1/2 to 3 hours and that has been helping. My regimen has been a 200 calorie "meal" within an hour of waking up, a 100 calorie snack,…
