I started this book and got through about 5 pages, but then it slid off the bed and it sits between the wall and the headboard. I know I sound lazy, but it really is just so painful to squat down and get the book that I haven't done it yet. Darn this aging thing! I'm going to see if I can nab it with my grabber today.

I recommend that you find out how many calories you burn on a daily basis just doing your normal activity. Then subtract 10 or 15% off that and eat at that deficit. You won't get overly hungry and you will consistently lose weight, plus you should also maintain the energy level you need to run after your precious babies.…

I chose a weight goal that corresponds to a time of my life when I was strong and fit and was performing my outdoor job really well. I'm working toward that number everyday so I can reclaim my title as the best worker. Even though I don't work any more, it doesn't diminish my resolve because, in my mind, I can see it,…

Kids have to learn to be dependable, which in this case, means being organized enough to remember bringing the gym clothes to school. If he learns this now, then he will be more productive in his life, and you will benefit from his dependability, too. Be proud that he took the punishment. Besides, he probably got all kinds…

If you are mainly eating breads and pasta, then you may not be getting enough protein. Are you not allowed to eat things like beans, corn, lentils?

Not sure what you are eating now, but it seems to me one way to redistribute your sugar so you have more at dinner, is to go easy on starchy foods at breakfast and lunch and eat vegetables instead. It's not an easy thing to stay low on sugar, I almost always went over it, so I stopped tracking it - I guess that's the…

Those studies seemed to recommend low carb, but not a LCHF diet. More fat is not what a fatty liver needs.

I keep getting a pop-up asking me to try MFP Premium for $9.99 a month. Also, I'm getting ads mixed in with my friends status feed; as if the ad is another friend. Are you not seeing these things? From what I can tell, Under Armour bought out MFP in February. Now they're offering the premium version for $10 a month or $50…

I'm almost finished with In the Woods. I think I did guess the killer correctly, unless something changes; but I haven't figured out the older crime. I have a feeling there may be a twist at the end. I love driving around the Delta, too. I drove to the keys only once so far; it is a wonderful trip. Both the Delta and the…

I'm vegetarian right now, but would like to try vegan again. It's easy for me to give up meat, but eating well is an entirely different issue. I would love to hear how others are eating a nutritious vegan diet.

Lenore - sounds like you have some fun times ahead; very nice. M - Oh yes, I've driven past Locke many times, but I've never actually visited Locke. What did you think of it? Are you going to visit the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island? I would be so jealous if you did. I'm on board with The Buddha in the Attic.

Hi all, I'm excited to go to the doctor tomorrow, I'm hoping I get cleared to start driving again. This op has been easier to recover from than the previous one. Actually, I'm still recovering from the first one, too. I'm so ready to feel 100% again, and I think doing more fun stuff is the ticket! I have to get down to…

Glad to hear the eye surgery has gone well! Reading In the Woods and finding it intriguing. What is everyone else reading?

L - I found out that, apparently, the strain on the pelvic floor can give you a prolapse. After you mentioned the 5 lb rule, it reminded me thatmy old fitness trainer would have me sit down when I used anything over 5 lbs. So, 5 lbs standing, the rest was done sitting on the exercise bench. So maybe there is something to…

That is awesome! Thanks so much for the inspiration!

Thanks for these references.

Must be a slow news day...

I am so grateful to hear all your good advice and your stories. Thanks for your support. I won't let that doctor put limits on my life.
-
Ignore the haters. You are making good decisions for your health and you are supported here.
-
I'm glad to hear that you can build no matter your age. I'm feeling a bit more hopeful now. I have to admit, the doctors advice was really getting me down.
-
Thank you. I might send you a message in a few months for advice about a program.

I would guess he is in his mid to late 40's.

Yes, he definitely said FOR LIFE. Oh my gosh, I never really thought about it from that practical sense, but, yes, I could never lift a grandchild, or heavy groceries. He's got to be a bit whacked, then. He is a gynecological oncologist. Edited to add: I'm not receiving any cancer treatments, other than the surgery, so the…

Hi L - I'm glad you are doing better. You have been so brave about this surgery, I'm very impressed. I'm sending good wishes and hugs your way for the next round of surgery. M - Do you still have house guests? And did the kiddies find lots of eggs? It's wonderful your family/friends are there to support you during these…

I might still have some brain fog. I think we agreed to make In the Woods our April read, at least in a theoretical sense, since M is having company for Easter and L is probably still resting her eyes. I bought a book at the dollar store and I don't like it, so I'm glad to move on to something else soon. Mostly I'm just…

Theoretically it could work. I tried it a few years ago and I found I just didn't have enough in common with others because everyone was sharing ideas and recipes for chicken, turkey, and beef, but no one had any idea how to work with beans and whole grains. They also put an astounding emphasis on processed foods, which…

Yeah, what kinda dummy wears a red poncho in the zombie apocalypse? You're just asking for it.

Reg always seems rather shell-shocked to me so I feel like he was inconsequential.

Hi, all! L - I'm sorry you have the cataract problem, but I am so happy that it is fixable. 20/20 vision will be so nice to have! More books! More wildlife watching! I'm nearly finished now with Outlander. It took a bad turn toward the end with some torture. So, I'll not read anymore of these books, I'm afraid. We get…
