  • What method do you use now to count calories? I would weigh each type of vegetable raw and then divide by portions. Also, I think you could get away with cutting down on the oil if you toss it in with the raw vegetables either in a bowl or baggie and toss to coat.
  • Lenore, I'm sorry to hear about your friends untimely death. It's such a shock when this happens. I remember how much it meant to you to have his help and I'm sorry he can't be there now. Mady, Your husband's passing is very sad and you are so strong to fight your way through it. I'm so sorry I haven't expressed my…
  • I received Outlander today; going to start it tonight.
  • Goldfinch is fine by me. I stopped going to movies, but of course I would love to see Wild, since we read the book. Someday I'll get caught up on all these great movies that have been released over the past year.
  • I haven't received my book yet, has anyone started it? I'm wondering if we should get ideas for February so we can all get the book by Feb 1. Any ideas for a good book?
  • Through the Evil Days, I think, is set during the winter and I like her winter books better than her spring/summer books, for some reason. I guess winter seems darker and more mysterious to me. And there's something about snow that I miss, even though I don't want to live in it again. I hope they get the veteran's stuff…
  • Hi all, I'm not much into non-fiction either, so let's stick with fiction. Hi M, nice to see you back. I hope you're doing better. It sounds like you have a new series to start with the Outlander books. Are you caught up with Claire and Russ? I noticed the most recent book, Through the Evil Days, is already on sale used…
  • I started the book this morning (because I am really supposed to be working on paperwork), and it looks good. How far have you gotten?
  • Wow! I was extremely busy with the run-up to Christmas. It was nice but I'm exhausted. On the 24th, I finally received Memory Keepers Daughter in the mail. It looks good and maybe I'll finish before the new year.
  • I guess you missed the bad weather they're having in California. For the book, try looking between the bed and the wall or in your tote bag. That's where I always find mine! I don't have a preference, either. Let's go with the first one - The Memory Keeper's Daughter. I can get that one for $1 on Amazon. Love a bargain!…
  • Which video did you purchase and recommend? Or are you doing the monthly subscription?
  • How is it going for everyone? I've made miserable progress on the book, actually, on any book, because of the looming holiday. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
  • I've got a lot to lose (70 lbs) but, being 60-ish, it comes off in super slow motion.
  • We will eventually go, but I hope I'm not here to see it. Don't want to end up like the guy sitting on the steps to the library and his glasses break.
  • Good Friday morning Diamondettes! It's always great to wake up to another beautiful day in south Florida. I've re-found the Fikry book on my computer and it's queued up for me to start reading later today. It was never really lost, I just tend to forget where things are if they're not right in front of my nose! This means…
  • I do have the Fikry book. I'll read that and if you and Lenore have it, we could read it together. I'm sorry things are so loosey-goosey right now; I attribute it to 'getting ready for the holidays.' I hope everyone is doing well and things are getting sorted out for you, Mady.
  • I'm not able to get the book in time for this month; it ships from London. Let me know how it is, though, it sounds good. Happy reading!
  • Mady - I'm so sorry you are going through some stuff right now. Take good care of yourself.
  • I'm thrilled you are all tech-ed up and can rejoin the reading! Look for a November topic soon. I'm headed down to visit my son and daughter-in-law today; we're going to an Italian restaurant for lunch for my birthday celebration.
  • Happy November! Got through Halloween evening without eating any candy, but did have 1 cookie. Tomorrow, however, is a different story because it's my birthday. Good night! Mary in south Florida
  • Hi Kataniki - I'm learning about the upland habitats in south Florida. You are so right about the loose fitting v close fitting clothing. I have a tendency to wear 1 size too big because it is more comfortable, but, people are always encouraging me to go smaller. I think I would have to enjoy shopping more in order to…
  • Yanniejannie - I'm so sad for your loss. Gin sounds like she was a very special friend. viv - So sorry to hear of your husband's diagnosis; sending good thoughts your way. Abbey - you have had more than your share of sorrows and I'm so sorry. Stress eating is my bane, as well, and I use distractions to help with that.…
  • You are a very special lady. Thank you so much for offering your success story as an inspiration for us.
  • When you are fasting, do you drink any calories? Like protein shakes or tea, coffee, or juices?
  • Lenore, it sounds like your keyboard is having a "stroke". Hardee-har.
  • Deb - sorry, I don't monitor my body fat but I do think it is a worthwhile goal and at some point I will do it, too. It must shrink rather slowly, I would imagine? Sally W - I agree, that was a scathingly brilliant idea for breakfast and I'm going to steal it. Michele in NC - ew, I've had that reaction to a flu shot…
  • It was overcast today, so it was perfect for an outdoor walk among the mangroves this morning. Also got to the gym and did my strength training workout. Lately my grocery shopping has been done just following whatever my mouth thought would taste good, so I haven't been losing weight; thankfully, I have been maintaining.…
  • I had a do-nothing day, except I did get in a 40-minute walk. Do-nothing is not necessarily stress-free. I really need to be doing a few things around the house. But for some reason my son needed to talk with me on the phone for a few hours. Newlywed stuff. I'm still having some trouble with my stomach and have gone back…
  • Hello All, Feeling better today; a bit more energy. I forgot who said their GP said it could take 6 weeks to recover, but I believe it, especially the older we get, we feel everything more, for instance, I always feel worse the following day when I don't eat right, but when I was 20, I could eat junk food all day and still…
  • I've turned the corner on the flu; I can eat regular meals but I just get tired easy. I hope to be my old self in a day or two. After my walk-among-the-mangroves this morning, I napped and watched some TV. But then I had the urge to exercise again so I took another walk this afternoon. I havent done that in years. Celeste…
