It's sounding like a belt will work best for me, though I'll probably get teased from the wife for wearing a fanny pack.

That was my other problem, my Pixel2 doesn't have a headphone jack but I've got some bluetooth ones coming int he mail.

Started the week off with an early morning workout since I was up anyway. Gives me some time to buy a V-day present for the wife. She treated me to a massage yesterday since I've been very tight and knotty lately. I'm not convinced they really do anything, I feel about the same today. 3 days of snowblowing and shoveling…

My tennis partner canceled so I don't know what I want to do at the gym today. Yesterday was full body strength training so today will be some sort of cardio or stretching, not sure what sounds fun anymore. I wish the weather didn't suck in Michigan so I could run outside.

Probably sedentary and log your workouts. Also if you have a fitbit or pedometer on your phone it will adjust if you are getting more steps that it is assuming for a sedentary lifestyle. If you choose a more active lifestyle, it assumes you are getting more steps but I'm not sure what the actual numbers are.

Go Green! Flint, MI here.

Goals? I need to get some of those. Mainly cut a few lbs but then actually keep active instead of slipping back into old habits and then going through all this again in a few years. I'd like to run a 5k again someday, it doesn't even have to be a race, I just want to be able to run again. Strength wise, I have no idea. I…

54 days until spring break! If I can maintain a lb a week until then I will surpass my goal.

I can finally fit into a couple shirts that were too tight on me before. But at the same time now most of my other shirts seem a little too big. Oh well, I'd much rather have them slightly big and comfortable than too small and uncomfortable.

Tell him to grow some balls and just tell her to >bleep< off. Do not negotiate, do not give in to threats of making the divorce harder, just do it. It's been three years. If he can't do that then you need to distance yourself. It's very not fair to you to have her hanging around and if he loves you he needs to realize that.

Just start off slowly, I've tried to do too much too soon and have been sore for days. Start off with light weights and gradually increase every week.

Could be any number of things. Up here in Michigan SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) is quite common this time of year. Could be just a bug, could be your body telling you to rest. I've noticed my mood can change if I'm not drinking enough water or if I'm eating too many carbs or too much sugar. Could be depression, I used…

Does anybody use their Xbox and Kinect for workouts? Looks like there are a few games that could be fun but also give you a workout. Might be something I'd try when I get sick of my current program.

That's pretty much what I do and it's working fine. But after a while you won't see much increase in strength if you are on a calorie deficit. They recommend no cardio because Stronglifts is a strength program, not a weight loss program. It will mainly help you retain the muscle you have if you are on a calorie deficit.

Somehow just having it on my wrist makes me think about being more healthy and exercising a little bit more than I normally would. And I like how it easily keeps track of my weight and how much I move around but that's about it. It's great for steps, but I don't track my calories. For those that do it could probably be…

The best results I've had have been from 5x5. But you'll notice the main things most of those programs have in common are the type of lifts. You'll see a lot of squats, deadlifts, bench press, overhead press, and rows so get used to doing those. I used to just do a lot of machines and never saw very good results, but since…

51 days and counting. My doctor put me on anti-depressants and then I just decided I wasn't going to smoke anymore. I just kept telling myself "I'm not a smoker anymore" and "No matter what I'm not having another cigarette, ever." I think the meds probably helped a lot. But now I have these mad craving for sweets, usually…

I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I worry I will have to sacrifice some sleep which could hinder my progress.

I've had all kinds of back problems and most of the advice everyone else has given has been solid. If it mainly happens when you sleep take a look at your mattress. Typical spring mattresses lose their shape quickly and tend to sag in the middle. I got an imitation thermarest, it was supposed to have a 20 year warranty…

The worst injury I've had from overtraining was shin splints from trying to run too much too often and possibly bad form. It wasn't that bad, I just had to switch to low impact for a while. The worst pain I've had was probably from undertraining when I threw my back out. I hadn't exercised much in a while and it seems to…

Went to the gym this morning before work for only the second time ever and the first time in a long time. Felt weird and out of my comfort zone, it will take some time to get used to. But I have things going on after work almost every day this week, so it's either work out in the morning or not at all.

You can do squats for cardio I suppose. Things like jump squats/power squats with no weights will give you some cardio if you do enough of them. Not really ideal though.

About 7,000-8,000 on average during the week. I sit at a computer all day so if I don't get a workout in I only get about 4,000-5,000. I aim for over 10,000 on the weekends.

I vaguely remember having to modify the schedule a little based on my level of soreness and personal schedule. Like sometimes instead of taking my rest day on Sunday I'd take it if I was too busy or too sore. Cardio Recovery is a good one to do if you are sore, it's actually designed to help you recover. The name is a…

Hey all, I'll join. Turned 41 about a month and a half ago and made some major changes to my lifestyle. I got rid of some bad habits and am trying to maintain some good habits. And lately I've been feeling better than I've felt in a couple years. My goals: I don't have any measurable goals really set in stone. I just want…

Yup. I lost about 6 lbs in a month and I was feeling proud of myself, then I gained 4 of it back and it stayed there. I swear my body defies the laws of physics sometimes. But it is recommended to drink 64 oz. of water a day, that by itself weighs 4.2 lbs. So it makes sense that my weight can fluctuate by about 4 lbs on…

My motivation has disappeared today. I started seeing some progress and was feeling great about it but then for the past couple weeks despite all of my efforts it went in reverse and then just stayed there. And I try to tell myself all of the things I usually tell others and be logical about it, it's just not working. I…

Happens to me all the time no matter what I do. Once I start to feel it I switch it up and pedal backwards for a few minutes and it goes away. This is great because it shifts my weight more toward my heels instead of my toes to relive some stress, and it gives my muscles a rest while it works different ones.

I'm a big fan of SL 5x5 personally, it just works for me. If you have the time you can check out a 5-3-1 program but it involves a lot more sets. If all you care about is looks you don't need to do much else, it will mostly depend on your diet. Personally I'm a pig so I have to work out a ton if I want to cut, the older I…

Doing 2 exercises of different muscle groups between sets so you basically rest one while you do the other. Good for saving time at the gym among other things. The problem is people tend to rest after every set which defeats the purpose.
