  • Feel free to check mine out. It's open. Even though my calories haven't been bad, just ignore the sweets. Hormonal and giving in to chocolate cravings so not eating as much of the fruits and veggies I should. LOL. The automatic adds of calories are servings of my diabetic pizza. Too lazy to log each item or create a meal.…
  • Exact same here. LOL. Was a random act of boredom with no real intention of doing anything to help myself.

  • Diabetic pizza! Saves me from getting the real thing! Spinach and Sausage Pizza: 3 oz (1 link) smoked turkey sausage, thinly sliced. 2 ready-made whole wheat pizza crusts (5 oz each) 1/2 cup fat-free ricotta cheese 1 clove garlic crushed 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning 2 Tbs grated Parmesan cheese 2 cups baby spinache leaves,…
  • This used to happen to me alot when I was in the Army. They would push us and push us and eventually I'd puke. Personally, the way I handled that was to eat a very light, easy meal an hour prior to working out, then sipping water as I went through the workout. It was really hard not to chug after I was finished but I had…
  • These were all suggested by my dietician when I had gestational diabetes: Snacks (pick one. Never more at one time) Whole Wheat Tortilla scoops with a small bit of salsa and fat free cheddar cheese. Heat in microwave until cheese melts. I LOVE this snack when I'm craving something crunchy and salty because I can have 12…
  • I'm a soul cyster! LOL! Diagnosed September 2009 but I suspect I've had this for quite some time. Even when I was in my 20's and active duty in the Army I struggled with my weight. I ran, I worked out, I cut back on what I ate, but I just couldn't seem to fit into the "appopriate weight" by their standards. Taped and…
  • I'm doing a low carb diabetic diet because it's something I can continue as a permanent lifestyle change. I'm already dropping weight with it after only being on the program for 4 days and I feel GREAT! For breakfast I allow myself 2 meats (eggs, turkey bacon, etc) and 1 starch (15 grams of carb such as a slice of wheat…
  • I don't have a specific recipe to share, however, I am in the same boat as you. I have a 5 year old and a 6 month old and don't have alot of time to cook or prep. I love crock pot meals, however, my husband is not a huge fan of them and once again, many recipes still require a good deal of prep time. More than I have. So,…
  • AMEN sister! I hear you on that and agree 100%!
  • I'm not very imaginative but my favorite thing in the world to do with canadian bacon is to make a healthy version of McDonald's Egg McMuffin. Fry the bacon to crisp it, toast a whole wheat english muffin then fry to crisp with a little butter flavored Pam, add a 1/4 of Eggbeaters (or just an egg white), and some low-fat…
  • I'm still newly into this but my motivations are: #1 Knowing I WILL lose the weight, and this will all be worth it. I already feel better, I already have more energy, and I'm already seeing the benefits even though the weight loss hasn't really begun. That's enough to keep my going because I don't want to go back to…

  • You guys are awesome. Thanks so much. I'm going to make it a point to find a good workout DVD. As far as asking family or neighbors to help .........well, that's a little trickier. We have no family here and the husband gets upset with me when I talk about finding someone to babysit for a few hours a week. He doesn't even…
  • Thanks all. To be fair, 2 things are happening here. #1 I'm hormonal. LOL. I REALLY need a break from these kids and to just get some fresh air. I LOVE to walk and there's a gorgeous, shaded, paved walking trail just 3 miles from my house. It's peaceful with flowers growing, runs right along the river, waterfalls, the…
  • I had a similar experience eating my Wickles (hot pickles). You'd think being PICKLES the only thing one would have to worry about is sodium, but NOOOOOO. VERY high carb! I didn't even bother looking at the calories. If it's that high in carb it's going to be high calorie too. What a shame.

  • Hi there! I'm new too. Just like you, I did an app search 3 days ago and found MFP and was absolutely blown away. I LOVE it! I primarily access from the internet now but love that I can use it off my Droid while I'm out and about. A little about myself: I'm 38 years old and mom to a 5 year old and 6 month old. I quickly…
  • Thanks guys! That helped and I got it figured out! I just needed to drop the carbs a bit to match my diabetic diet. Should be good to go now! Appreciate the help!
  • I can't do it either, and actually, 8 glasses is not enough. For every 10 lbs a person is overweight they are supposed to drink an extra glass of water. I don't know the actual science behind it but it has something to do with flushing fat out and how things are working on the cellular level. I can't seem to drink more…

  • Welcome! I also have PCOS. Be sure to keep close dibs on your blood pressure. Phentermine caused mine to go up, even though I've never in my life had high BP. So keep an eye on it. Welcome to our group! I've been here 3 days myself.
  • Howdy from TN! I'm right there with you. I just joined 2 days ago, am 38 years old, and need to lose 35 lbs to get back to my ideal weight. This place is AWESOME! I wake up every morning excited to see what's new, and it's motivating me not only to eat better, but to begin exercising--which wasn't in the original plan.…
  • My go-to is to add lemon juice to the water. Works like a charm. If you want to try an herbal alternative Dandelion Root is also a good, natural diuretic.
  • YAAAAAY! You look fantastic! What an inspiration you are!:flowerforyou:
  • Sugary foods are the primary culprits for thrush, however, if it's systemic and is throughout your system it can be very difficult to get rid of. I discovered when I was breastfeeding my first child that I had systemic yeast. An herbalist told me to get a bottle of Candidase after weeks of unsuccessful treatments and meds…
  • I've tried diet pills in the past and found that not only do they not work well, but they did have unintended side effects. With one my blood pressure went up even though I'd never had high blood pressure. With another I became moody and even irrational. With yet another I realized it was doing me no good because I was…
  • I Walmart Ad Match. Just got back from there as a matter of fact. One grocery store 30 miles away had avacado's on sale for .50 each, another store had Oscar Mayer turkey dogs for .99 a pack, and yet another had Butterball Turkey Bacon for $1.00. I had a coupon to slap on top of the Butterball Turkey Bacon. The way I do it…
  • I have to eat my food in a straight line. Sandwiches are nibbled straight across, then roated until I have a tiny square left. Anything round must be eaten the same. Pretty-much anything that is eaten without a fork (picked up by hand) is eaten this way. On the flip side, when I'm NOT eating finger foods and am eating…
  • Okay, I am so NOT going to try those. Especially knowing I've got a coupon too. ROFL! I actually LOVE the Healthy Choice Fudge Bars and they're low carb, or at least they fit into my snack allowance. Better to not know what I'm missing. I'll stick to those and never try the Magnum bars. HA! Thanks for the warning! Been…
  • I'm game for this! Not sure that I have the stamina to last an hour at ANYTHING right now, even in small increments, but I'll give it my 100%! I might have to build up to it. LOL. Gonna be a little tricky with a 6 month old and a 5 year old demanding my attention. Time to get creative!
