  • If it is going to be breakfast or a large snack, my favorite is: 1 scoop chocolate protein powder 5 frozen strawberries handful of baby spinach 1/3 of an avocado 1 banana water or milk, depending on what I feel like creamy, huge, filling, and delicious
  • what about some homemade beef jerky with no sugar in it? Or olives or something else that's mostly fatty. I'm assuming you'll have no access to refrigeration? That makes it tougher. You could also do nuts for breakfast.
  • Lela, like futurama :)
  • Also, many brands of tamari are gluten free if youa re okay with some fermented soy!
  • I have been gluten free for about 6 months. I feel much better. I am also mostly grain free along with legume free. No more bloating or fatigue! I haven't replaced my gluten-laden things with the gluten free alternatives because most of these are higher in calories and very processed. Occasionally I'll have a treat, but…
  • I made this a few weeks ago and it was delicious! http://wifeasaurus.blogspot.com/2012/06/pork-chops-and-peaches.html Have you tried roasting vegetables? It gives them a lot of sweetness! What about a sweet potato with some butter? There are so many yummy veggies that aren't greens, I bet you can find something!

  • if you feel you should eat something, snag a banana or a sweet potato. Or bring one along for after. Sometimes, if I don't eat before a morning work out, I'm a little shaky after so I bring along a piece of fruit for those times.
  • I started eating a paleo/primal diet and lost weight pretty quickly after that. It helped that I was no longer starving and had some energy! I have a gluten intolerance and didn't realize it until I cut it out and then reintroduced it with bad results. Not saying this is necessarily the right thing for you, but could be…
  • if your diary is accurate, then you aren't eating enough. You are at a healthy weight and if you want to "tone up" then you will need to increase calories. If you are having trouble eating more because you are full, try increasing your healthy fats. Avocado, olive oil, coconut oil, pastured butter, nuts, and grassfed meats…
  • kalamata olives, string cheese, hard boiled eggs, plain whole fat yogurt, whole fat cheese, small salad, nuts, homemade larabar, guacamole with veggies That's all I can think of right now! I don't really snack that often, as I usually consume 500 calories or more for breakfast!
  • I have a degree in elementary ed and did my student teaching in an elementary school. Although the actual hot lunch at the school wasn't usually great, the school did have a salad bar with fresh veggies and a fresh fruit that the students who purchased a lunch could help themselves to. When warmer times came, the fruit was…
  • a banana or sweet potato.
  • I am not a mom, but what about a green monster smoothie? Give it a fun name and make it taste good! Bananas will cover up almost any "yucky" flavor and some cocoa powder would be good with it. Perhaps use raw honey as a sweetener if necessary? Make some banana "ice cream" with some healthier alternatives?…
  • Eat your eggs as most people said above. There are so many good things in them. As for cheese, eat full fat cheese. Reduced fat has more additives typically. Also, full fat tastes better! I love cabot brand cheese, the sharper and stinkier the better. I also love blue cheese.
  • Eggs are awesome and will keep you full for hours. 3 large eggs is 210 calories. Cook them in half a tablespoon of Kerrygold butter and you're looking at less than 300 calories still. Otherwise, think outside of the box! I often have leftovers or a big salad with some oil packed tuna for breakfast. It seems strange…
  • raw honey is what I typically use, but if you are cool with artificial sweeteners, go with some stevia!
  • The links were no problem! I hope you get some good ideas from them! Checking out the paleo diet might be a good idea for you since you are gluten and dairy free. For me, I have cut out most of those gluten free substitutes for my old favorite foods because they aren't really great for you and end up being much higher in…
  • Since you said you don't really do gluten (are you sure with the hidden sources? It might be worth cutting out completely), I would say try a probiotic food, such as yogurt, fermented veggies, or kombucha, or a supplement. It makes things run smoothly.
  • It has probiotics just like a regular yogurt. It is basically a yogurt drink, I don't think there is much difference, but I could be wrong. It would be great to add to smoothies
  • This recipe below is really good. You could easily double or triple it and slice the loin into chops. You could also just sear the loin and after you return it to the pan you can finish it off in the oven. Pork Chops and Peaches adapted from: paleoblocks Ingredients: 1 T olive or coconut oil 4 boneless pork chops or bone…
  • nomnompaleo is a great sources for gluten and dairy free recipes. Check out Chowstalker as well, it has lots of special diet recipes. Most paleo recipes will be dairy free and all will be gluten free. Plus they will be full of healthy ingredients :)
  • Probiotics do wonders for me. I drink 8oz of kombucha everyday, mostly because I love the taste, but also because of the probiotics that bulk up the bacteria in the intestine. You can also try yogurt or fermented veggies for the same probiotics. You can also do a probiotic supplement (I prefer real food).
  • If coconut isn't an option than cow milk. I usually go full fat, but sometimes 1%, as that is what my husband likes. I usually only consume it once or twice a week.
  • I almost always do leftovers or salad. My salad is usually: spring greens, grape tomatoes, cucumber, and a can of oil packed starkist tuna with some balsamic vinegar.
  • I saute it in some bacon fat with onion and garlic. The stems are really tough, so if you do want to eat them (i hate to waste!) cook them a lot longer than the leaves

  • I am gluten free too! I have been since January and it was a great choice for me. I'm also mostly grain free. Going gluten free is not hard if you make the right choices. It means not replacing all of your flour based foods with their gluten free counterparts because those are often way higher in calories. There are so…
  • I love the meat from a coconut. It takes a long time to chew, so its a great snack at work. I wish they were easier to get into or that I had some more power tools to help!
  • If you have a trader joes nearby, try their all beef uncured hot dogs. They are soooo tasty!
  • I know that there is chicken bone broth in the recipe index already and that sounds very similar. I'm not really sure how to create that recipe properly on my own since you aren't actually eating some of the components that go into it. I would personally log it as chicken bone broth.
