Thanks again for all the advice, guys. I ran outside yesterday morning after my 12-hour shift. This was the only way to get it done before it got too hot. My Garmin says the temp. was 75 degrees with 89 percent humidity. I ran in a park with some shading from huge trees. It really was not bad at all at this time. I focused…

Congrats to you! That is awesome, and glad to hear the treadmill worked out for you! Very encouraging!

Thank you all for the tips and advice! I must say it is hard to hear someone say "embrace the suck" when according to their profile they have only run one 5k. With all due respect, running a 5k is a lot different than spending hours outside running in the heat preparing for a marathon. I can bang out 30 minutes running…

So glad someone else can relate! I love my treadmill! It is not your typical treadmill. It is a challenge, and you can bet I am not watching tv while I am on it! I am changing my form as the incline goes up and down, looking at the street view to see where I "am going," and totally engaged the entire run. It definately is…

This sounds like a good idea. Mixing things up also keeps me from getting bored and keeps my legs always guessing what is next. I think breaking it up some by running on the treadmill exercises different muscles in my legs giving others a chance to heal and repair, too. Thanks for the post!

Awesome rusults! You look 10 years younger and lots happier!

Your face is beautiful! When you get to be 50 (like me) you will miss the youthful plump to your face. Ladies my age are going to get injections to plump their face back up with fillers to get back what they have lost due to aging. Enjoy your youth and your beauty.

I love running and the support from other runners on this site! I have run a couple of 5k's, a 10k bridge run, and 2 halfs so far. I am training for a full in November. Would love to have more running friends!

Beautiful men! Dang, I wish my hubby would lifts some weights, or a couch or something! lol

I love them. My favorite one is the Southwestern one. I put some fat free refried beans on a plate, a bed of salad, and then the salad addition. Sometimes I add a little taco sauce with the dressing they provide. I like a lot of dressing on my salad. It is yum!

So proud of you, and so happy for you! You can and will achieve the weight loss. You have a terrific attitude about the process. You are willing to put in the effort, time, and patience. Keep up the good work and God bless!

I can't speak to the Nike app, because I have not used it, but I LOVE my Garmin. It is my biggest cheerleader! Here is just some of the info it gives you. This is from a run I did Saturday. It also gives you a map view of your run that can be changed to satellite view, too. It shows you graphs of elevation and heart rate.…

I, too, appreciate the nutritional info on menus and websites. Knowledge is power. If I go out to eat you can see my on my smart phone before I order checking out the stats. That is just the way I roll. However, asking everyone to list it will be a convenience we will have to pay for (prob. increase in price, etc), but I…

Blue Bunny Peanut Butter Panic ice cream, peanut butter straight from the jar (Smucker's All Natural is best), raw chocolate chip cookie dough are my strongest additions. Oh, and wedding cake... I can't leave it alone!!!
-
I can eat about 3/4 of that without trying too hard! The Peanut Butter Panic flavor from Blue Bunny is my fav. I have to avoid it like the plague! However, I have found a little help in dividing it up when I get home from the store and putting it into plastic containers. Each still has 3-400 calories each, but it is not…

That is awesome! You look fabulous! That is such an amazing accomplishment, and you are beautiful!

Mine was 41 at the hospital last time I went in for health screen. They took it twice and asked me if I ran. lol. I said, "Yes."

When I first started using mfp my diary was open. I joined this site to eat healthier, not neccesarily to lose weight. I have lost 12 pounds, and I am quite lean now. I have never really been overweight in my life as I have always tried to live a healthy lifestyle. I do feel much better about the food choices I am making,…

Wow! Awesome work! You look great! Keep it up! You can do it!

I burn between 300-500 calories per day, except for my long run day when I usually burn at least 1,000. I take one rest day per week from exercise
-
I run alone. That gives me time to think and destress. I can also think more about my pace, my form, and my stride if I am not trying to "accomodate" someone else. Running is definately a mental experience for me as I do a lot of thinking during my run. I like to listen to my ipod, too. I would worry that it would be rude…

I, too, am a runner. I just completed my first half marathon (2:01:45). I would love to be friends with more runners if you are interested. Thanks!

I love this idea! Sounds yummy! I also love Hungry Girl's Holy Moly Guacamole! It is the bomb! Google it!

Sometimes if I feel that hungry I will have a tablespoon of peanut butter. I know that it is 100 cals, but it really does the trick! And then... go to bed! lol

In another observational study, researchers tracked over 52,000 people for 30 years. Overall, runners had a 19 percent lower death risk than non-runners. However, the health benefits of exercise seemed to diminish among people who ran more than 20 miles a week, more than six days a week, or faster than eight miles an hour.…

Seriously? You should come to my house. I will show you how to polish off some cals! lol

That is exactly how I wear mine. It is the hard plastic part of the monitor itself that is rubbing against me. I am pretty lean there. I think the anti chafing stuff will be worth looking into!
