You know what? I will. I'll make sure it wasn't nasty or hurtful and then teach them that a bit of gentle ribbing is part of how humans bond. I'll do this because I don't want them to grow up like you.

I don't know why I'm engaging you, you joyless curmudgeon, but 'making fun' of someone is NOT the same as bullying them and you shouldn't be so cavalier the use of that word. Bullying is a campaign of abuse not a few jokes aimed at no particular person. I bet you get offended a lot don't you?
-
Wow, do you find any joy in ANYTHING? Are you telling me you've never taken the piss out of a friend who said something daft? It's not important what is said, it is the intent that matters. And no one here means any ill so unbunch your panties sweetheart

Mate if THAT bothers you, you are going to have a bad time on the internet.

Yes, for you it is something other people have and that is just not fair.

Hairdresser is on holiday at the moment so I'm booked in for next Friday evening (5th Oct)! I'll post the result up here. Thanks again everyone

Thanks for this. Great post and very good advice. Thanks to everyone, the number of replies has really surprised me and been very supportive and constructive. I am going to book an appointment with my hairdresser and will post back on this thread when it's done.

Thanks so much everyone, really nice comments. I think I'll go to the hairdressers next week, speak to him about it and go for the buzz. Bit nerve-wracking but like you say, I can always grow it back if I hate it. @tbskip and the_waffler... :blushing: :blushing: :blushing:

The intention is admirable but I think the advice here is right, you need to look at how this will be perceived and it will look like an attempt at reconciliation. If you care enough to want to be friends, you should talk to her (NOT on her birthday) but you seem pretty clear that you do not want that so, hard though it…

EDITED: I was being a bit of a troll. Ignore

Try to remember that everyone has this feeling. When you see super fit people in the gym just try to keep in mind that they got like that from starting where you are. Even when I see really big people in the gym, I just think "good on you for getting in here and taking control of your life". It's easy to say all this of…

I don't really understand why you'd become vegetarian apart from if you have moral objections. Meat is the most efficient way to get a lot of important vitamins and protein into you and, assuming you eat lean stuff, is also very healthy. I can understand cutting out kebabs or burgers but a good lean piece of pork, a nice…

What about being told you look like that dude from Blue? Cos you do

Well, I'm 30 so I'm very not mad :) Thanks, that made me smile
-
I'm 30 but people seem to think I look mid 30's or older which is depressing cos I still feel and act about 18. I think it's my stupid hair which is determined to depart the front of my head

ItsAllWorthIt22 - I'm guessing the 22 in your name is your age not the year of birth! I love your chest of drawers. Is it solid wood?
-
No it was a lucky guess :P I think I need to change my profile picture!

Have you tried a strong antiperspirant just in that area? Avoid them otherwise when exercising, it's important to sweat as much as your body needs to but if it's causing irritation that damages the skin or prevents you doing as much as you want to then it might be worth a try. If it's just unpleasant but not causing pain…

Like you said, I don't think they are trying to be mean or demotivating, I think a lot of the time it comes from guilt. They probably see you as healthier and thinner than they are and the fact that you are exercising and dieting makes them feel bad that they aren't. Look it at like this; Maybe it will be the little kick…

These forums really make me despair sometimes. We're supposed to be supporting each other and look how many of you are being offhand, dismissive, judgemental or plain rude. The OP certainly did not give enough information for people to be accusing her of an eating disorder and just consider this; If she really does have…

Nice. This is a brilliant way to harvest some personal information to use on those "I forgot my password" security questions.

You might be able to drop a couple of pounds but honestly I don't think it'd be noticeable. What you need to consider is that a sudden drop in calories or carbs will impact your energy levels and that could have a far more negative effect on your performance at the casting than a couple of pounds of weight. I think you'd…

Finding an exercise you enjoy is important. Personally I find running really boring so I only do 20-30 minutes a week and it's on the treadmill in the gym which has a telly on it. I got back into badminton just under 3 years ago and have been playing for 2 hours every week since. I love that and barely even notice that…
-
How do you feel about swimming? It might be a good alternative for a while as it is zero impact and is fantastic exercise as it works all your muscles. Perhaps do a little running too but just take it easy and make sure you listen carefully to your body.

Oh I know that, that's why I asked. I am genuinely interested in whether there is an actual reason people weigh every day, other than just being a bit over keen. I do have to disagree on one point though, there IS a medical reason not to weigh everyday which is as I stated earlier about water retention. I'm not saying you…
-
Yes, got forbid a topic stimulates a lot of conversation. Bet you are a riot at parties.
-
A lot of people are saying "I do X" which is fine but I think it's important to clarify that the OP did ask how often you SHOULD weigh yourself, not just how often you do. If you actually think you SHOULD do it every day or whatever, I'd be interested to hear why.
