Wow, I was hoping that you'd conclude by saying, "and I wouldn't trade a minute of it for all the money in the world." :ohwell: My wife and I would gladly trade some of these so-called "problems" for a baby. Hopefully, we'll get one before too long.

Look closely at my profile picture ... the one on the right.

Going to the gym is a "hobby"? :noway: Anyway, yes, I play the piano and organ. I just started in December, actually. After playing guitar since I was 15, I decided to learn a new instrument.

You look great, man! Congratulations!

Okay, so I visited the page that SteffieMark suggested and created my virtual before-and-after models. Well, the 203-lb. model looked exactly the same as the 180-lb. model. So, according to the model, I'll look exactly the same at my goal weight as I do today. Boy, that sure was encouraging. :grumble:

And it's "sandwich," damn it, not "sammich." No one thinks it's funny when you write or pronounce it that way.

So you just post videos and news stories of things that outrage you?

No, we'd all be speaking English. Thirty years ago, almost none of the annoying expressions listed in this thread existed, yet everyone communicated just fine. :flowerforyou:

I also hate it when people use the words "males" and "females" when they mean "men" and "women." For example, you see profiles that say, "I don't accept friend requests from males." That just begs the question, "Male whats?" Do you mean "men"? Or do you mean any male creature? What I'm saying here is, let's use the words…

Thanks, SteffieMark!

Was this post in English? I thought we had an English-only rule on this site? :noway:

Ooh, I want to know the answer, too!

There's no reason to give anything up. So I don't. In my opinion, unless you were eating heroin or urinal cakes or plutonium before, there's really nothing that you absolutely must give up in order to eat healthier and lose weight.

I have 1,800 songs on my iPod. Which ones do you want?

Don't you hate it when "bro" is pronounced "bra"? :noway: :noway: :noway: :noway: :noway:

In forum posts: Any text speak. Since you're using a full keyboard sitting at a computer, there's no need to use text abbreviations like "ppl" or "prolly" or "cos." "OMG" "FML" "SMH" "" And the mother of all text-speak that I hate more than any other: "LOL."

I love this thread! Here are some phrases that I hear in the business context that I absolutely hate: "Outside the box" "Drill down" "Deep dive" "Around" - as in when people say things like, "there were issues 'around' Jane's performance," or "we had a lot of discussion 'around' [insert subject or topic]." "For the…

I like the puzzled look on your face in your profile pic. Suits the comment perfectly.

Avoid the General's Chicken. That's deep fried, isn't it?

There are at least 150 reasons why the waiter didn't fling himself at you just because you smiled at him. Here are a few: -- He's married. -- He's in a long-term, committed relationship. -- He's a professional and doesn't believe in flirting with customers. -- He didn't even recognize what you were doing as flirting. -- He…

Where does it come from? Seeing a few of them.

You are hereby banned from these forums, young lady!

You've got some street cred with me, then. Let's add Saving Private Ryan, and anything with Harrison Ford in it to my list of "Movies I'll Never See Unless I'm Being Waterboarded and That's the Only Way to Make It Stop."

This totally just went into my Netflix queue!

This whole thing started when I was in college. I was a young English major, kind of snobby about what I would read and watch. And I thought that, if "everyone" wants to see it, then it can't be that good. After all, most Hollywood product is designed to appeal to as many people as possible, so it can't be that smart or…

I've never seen Caddyshack, either. So add that to my list, too!
-
You haven't seen Pulp Fiction? Sacrilege! Seriously, it's a great movie. Just see it already.

I haven't seen that one, but I may have to rent it. After you mentioned Von Trier, I looked him up, and the only film of his I've seen is Breaking the Waves, but that was many years ago.
