I can do burpees a lot easier than the mountain climbers. I just cannot move my legs fast enough to make them worthwhile! :indifferent:

I didn't really read all the replies you received but this is what I was told by the trainer at my gym (and also part of what I know from previous training). You can do the cardio either before or after; I do it before only because it somehow energizes me to do machine weights but it is really personal preference. You can…

Yes.... It's annoying. And I got remarks the one time I lost about 70 pounds maybe 12 or 13 years ago from people who never even saw me! I told how much I lost and what I weighed in the end (which was about 138 pounds--pretty much the same end weight I'd like to be close to this time, as well) and all I got was "Are you…

Right now I am supposedly to be in an F or G cup but I really don't feel like special ordering bras so am squeezing into a DDD that I found that fits. I have actually lost 7 inches on my bust since June and am still way too big. Not sure why you are wanting to do this (maybe you stated it but I only read quickly) but I…

My daughter has a friend (she's actually her second "mom" on the east coast) who is self employed and has to pay her own insurance costs. She is being charged a higher rate for having her BMI not within THEIR limits... I also worked at Duke about five years ago when they were willing to pay for smokers to take Chantix in…

I am a firm believer that you should not eliminate any major food group. I mentioned on another thread I have always had success with carbs in my diet, even while trying to loose weight. I just cooked up two pasta containing dishes a bit ago and they also contain vegetables and/or pureed sauces made from vegetables. If you…

Impressive! :D You look fabulous!

Unfortunately, there are no real alternatives for carbs except to take in fewer of them. I personally don't like reduced carb diets (I have always eaten pastas and things when loosing weight with success) but that's not to say they don't work for other people. Unlike meat substitutes the only real way to cut back on carbs…

92 days; I have lost a total of 45 pounds (I managed to loose 23 pounds in the year prior to using this site on a daily basis) though 22 have been lost during the 92 days. I still need to loose 37 pounds to reach my goal weight! :D

My daughter expresses the same concern. I was going to buy her some tops for her birthday a week or so ago and she told me she has to try everything on now. It's no longer "one size fits all the time"! I guess I am experiencing similar issues, but somethings are styled to be "loose" but too loose isn't always a good thing!…

I watched a video last spring as a sub where this same comment was mentioned. The family complained that the dad (who was obviously overweight) had two medications he took that ate away a lot of the family's budget, so they had no choice but to eat out all the time because it was so much cheaper.... My thought was maybe if…

I have a daughter who will turn 20 this Friday and I am not entirely sure what I would do in this situation. I am a 52 year old woman who finds younger men attractive (like late 30's and up), though I haven't dated since my daughter was born and think I am just interested in this age group to make up the lost time! O_o She…

It depends on what you want. Someone mentioned they are expensive, which usually they are. My gym has a free service and the girl is very competent, but she's not the type of trainer that will customize a workout for everyone in the gym. Those are the ones that cost.... Make sure they know what they are talking about. I've…

Hi, I turned 52 back in June, right about the same time I was starting to work out again. The gym I attend suggested using this particular tracker as an aid, though I didn't start using this site until about mid to late June... So I do exercise regularly, as well! I was thin until I had my daughter, who turns 20 next week.…

Fiber is fine, but many people don't realize you have to drink a lot of water with it! And, of course, that could cause some bloating but I doubt that is the situation here? There is also an acclimation period when you start adding more fiber to your diet (if this is something you are actually trying to do!). I'd go with…

I, too, recently crossed that threshold from obese to overweight! I still have quite a bit of weight to loose yet, but given I have an inherited heart condition, that news was very well received! Congratulations! Keep up the good work!

Not sure if these are in your area but I use Veggie Chips. I have also discovered Pretzel Thins that Pepperidge Farms (and another company that already has them counted and in individual baggies--can't recall the name, however) that are really good especially since I like to eat with hummus.

Spinach! Raw... cooked... in smoothies! It seems to be a staple of mine these days!

I think fitness is like any other component of a relationship (though I've been single my whole life, so take what I have to say with a grain of salt... ;) ), but even if in the beginning it doesn't pose a problem, there will come a point where the other half thinks you make it a priority over them. I was in that position…

I agree with the people saying to do upper body one day, then lower body the next. I do it this way but I do multiple reps per exercise and increase the weight once it starts getting too light (usually start with 8 reps then at 15 move up in weight). Yes, I work out on machines. I think, however, even circuits in the gym…

I'd love to be flat-chested again! I've been top heavy since I had my daughter 20 years ago and it seems to be the first place I gain and the last place I loose, though I have to admit I have lost five inches so far. The odd thing is I was a DDD and though my band size is down, they took measurements and supposedly now I…

I still need to loose about 40 pounds, but if I can drop close to 30 by Christmas I'll be all kinds of excited!

I was going to suggest celery (which I can't stand myself, btw), but here is a link to 25 low carb veggies options. http://www.dlife.com/dlife_media/diabetes_slideshows/lowest-carb-veggies?gclid=CN2r2e7U7LECFYRgTAodrUAAEw

I am reading some of the posts and while I have always been considered a nerd, now know why! :D My undergraduate degree is in biology and I am working on a master's in education technology (Hope to be done in December!). I also have taught physics and chemistry. My favorite all time movie series is Star Wars, and when I…

Hi Sarah, I am 52 and have lost about 15 pounds since I started using this site regularly. I realize my situation is not exactly the same as yours (if you think being 30 something makes weight loss a challenge, wait until you are my age O_o)! but I, too, only recently got past a common plateau. I discovered, though I was…

I do Zumba on the Wii and can't recall where I found this info (I struggle every time I need to add a new exercise finding calories burned!) but I use 498 calories for a 45 minute intermediate workout! I do not believe the site I used for this calculated in my personal info but I am 52, 5'7", and currently weigh 184. Hope…

I turned 52 in June and, according to my "feed", have been on this site 50 days in a row now! :) Lost about 17 pounds during that time! It has certainly helped me a lot!

I have not eaten any meat (except fish) in past 10 weeks or so. I also consume chocolate (which I love) minimally; once every couple of weeks, maybe!

They're right; nothing to be embarrassed about! My background is in biology and this may be an issue of your weight and/or % body fat. Athletic women have been known to have periods stop or become irregular based on these changes below a certain point (I think it's like 8-10% body fat, but don't quote me on that!). If…

I have had the coconut water "straight" out of the container and it was horrible! :( I've heard, however, it is great to use in other things, though I have not tried it! I'm not a big fan of coconut to start off with, but you may like it if you enjoy that taste already!
