  • Don't do squats and lunges until you are stronger! Ride a bike! Fast! Preferably spin class and lots of them. Best way to strengthen your knees, and also really strengthens your quads, which support your knees. Strong quads take stress off the knees. Don't put the tension too high until you are used to it, but keep…
  • If you are next to me on the treadmill, then yes, we are racing ;)
  • Sorry, stupid newbie question, but what is in regular mayo that makes it non-paleo?
  • To me ideal is 18%, because that is when I see the definition in the 6-pack area (on my body, everyone is different). I'm up to about 20-21% now, and can see my obliques well-defined, but not any of the center muscles. But I like muscles not curves, so that is how I want to look. Everyone is different :)
  • Thank goodness it's not just me wobbling around!
  • Just know that you are setting a good, healthy example for them and that they will appreciate it later! I just signed up my 11 year-old daughter for her first triathlon :) Like mother, like daughter!
  • I drink 4 diet mountain dews a day. I won't quit. I have met all of my weight loss and fitness goals and as you can see from the picture I am not unhealthy, inactive, skinny fat, and the nasty chemicals in diet drinks are not keeping me from doing anything. I'm off to the gym to go run 8 miles in 64 minutes. Keep your diet…
  • I love them :) Most of my running and yoga gear is lulu. It fits perfectly and holds up well no matter how much I sweat in it or wash it. Plus it looks fabulous. It is expensive, but to me it's worth it.
  • Obviously I approve - see profile picture. Fantastic fat burner, fun, healthy, great outdoor exercise. I also do spin class though - much more effective for interval training.. I do triathlons at 20+ mph (even that is not really fast, the fast people are doing 26-30 mph) and in April I did a 180 mile bike ride from Houston…
  • How about cyclists? All those pics on bikes... Hate them too, lol.
  • I exercise. A LOT. I have also been drinking Bud Select 55, it's 55 calories a bottle... It tastes ok (almost like real beer...) and you can drink 3 for the same calories as in a can of coke. If you want good beer or real beer, then just exercise more or fit it into your calories. I believe in moderation, not deprivation.
  • Foam roller. Foam roller. Foam roller. I don't have any IT band issues, but I have had months of issues with my right hip flexor and left groin (I tore it 5 months ago, not just a pull), and the foam roller has helped SO MUCH with both. I just started using it about a month ago, and I will never stop now :)
  • You're at a cabin? Go hiking! and swimming (not after drinking :) ) Have fun and enjoy your vacation! Eating healthy and a healthy lifestyle shouldn't keep you from living life! Log your calories, but enjoy yourself. When I go on vacation I give myself permission to not eat at a deficit. That's not going crazy overboard,…
  • You don't have to eat back all exercise calories. If you are not hungry, don't eat. I'm thinking your calories burned look a little high...
  • You are the one who has to live with it, get something you are happy with :)
  • If you just want to get out for an hour at lunch, then go outside and walk for an hour. Then eat the healthy food you brought from home at your desk :) Make spaghetti with meat sauce with whole grain pasta and ground turkey. I make huge batches and freeze individual portions. So inexpensive and so good.
  • I just checked your profile and saw your little ones are only 11 weeks? Don't forget that quite a while after pregnancy your hormones will still be causing loose joints and issues with muscles/tendons. Stepping up your running game at too quick a pace will cause pain and can cause some worse issues. Ice and rest :) It's…
  • I am 125, and my goal is 125 :) I'm 5'4" with plenty of muscles and I am now competing in triathlons. For me, that's perfect. My original goal weight was 117, but when I got to 125 and 19% body fat I realized that I would lose muscle if I lost more weight, and that was unacceptable. I'd probably stay happy in a range of…
  • Since I've lost weight (about 30 pounds) they are definitely not as noticeable, since they are thinner and not "stretched" out so much. mine are all on my love handle and upper outer thigh region. I just started using the Mederme stretch mark cream 1 week ago. I can't tell much yet, but it says you need 4 weeks to see…
  • You. Are. Awesome. I love your attitude, and thank you for sharing!
  • I just started swimming a month ago (avid biker/runner, starting triathlons...), and I tell you, it BEATS me up! And I am in great shape! It is hard work, it gets my heart rate up, it works my arms, shoulders, and core for sure. When I am done I am tired and starving :) There is no way that you couldn't lose weight doing…
  • I'm running a half in November, and I am doing this program: http://www.runnersworld.com/article/1,7120,s6-238-244-258-13700-0,00.html It's a 10 week program with goal of finishing in under 2 hours, but I already run quite a bit and am training for triathlons right now. Runner's World has other training plans as well, and…
  • YOU CAN DO IT! If it's for charity, especially, and especially one that is close to you. Couch to 5K works for tons of people, but really, all you need to do to start is get properly fitted for good running shoes. They should look at your bare feet, they should watch your stride, etc. Then just start. If you start out by…
  • Houston here! Republic of Texas :)
  • If she has no allergy to milk, just doesn't like it, and you want to "fatten" her up - then chocolate milk, strawberry milk (if you haven't already tried), milkshakes, smoothies, ice cream... I agree, whole milk is "grow juice", plus you cannot make up for any lost opportunities to build calcium in your bones. I would make…
  • You went from being able to run 2 miles to being able to run 7 miles in a month? not sure why you are asking for help, seems like you should be giving help :) Be careful you don't push yourself too far or too fast since that leads to injury, do a dynamic stretching warm-up routine (some good videos of that are out there if…
  • So, so sorry. Been there too. Unfortunately, that's one you have got to rest. It does not get better. Eevry other running injury I ever had I could just "run it out" and continue training through the pain until it healed. That one, definitely not. It just kept getting worse, even as I got slower and slower. Best to rest it…
  • So this person talks bad about you behind your back (to at least 2 people) and also lies to you? I don't think you should ever apologize to them again :)
  • At 1200 calories a day you are not gaining muscle.
  • For real? Like seriously? At 12% body fat women lose their menstrual cycle and their immune system begins to deteriorate. At 8% body fat you start to lose hair, nails, and become weak. At lower than 8% you risk organ failure including liver, kidneys, and heart... Women carry more fate than men, it just is. Even men rarely…
