Avocado ice cream is to die for. Once upon a time, I despised avocados. Don't even try to push guacamole over on me. Tried it - hated it. Then one day at a restaurant in the middle of nowhere, I tried this guacamole, literally on a dare from my wife, and it tasted like nothing I'd ever had before. Turns out, homemade guac…

Ah, the joy of having to buy new clothes... It's one truly spectacular feeling. Very happy for you, OP! Congratulations! And thanks for sharing. Keep up the strong, positive, inspiring work!

When the coffee freezes to my mustache. Oh, and that's also a sign that it's a good time to shave.

<---- Just got them. My second pair. I got my first pair to run in, but I didn't like them that much for running. They're okay, but not great. So my first pair became for general use and weight training. Pair number 1 is getting old and dingy, and I found an online deal for 1/2 off. How could I resist? Now I have a pair…

WAHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Way to go! I love your positive spirit and sense of accomplishment!

I like adding water into my coffee. Usually. Sometimes it's nice to just chew on the beans. Especially the ones dipped in dark chocolate. Usually though I like mine with water.

In a way you answered your own question. You must find something you like to do. It's pretty much that simple. If you don't know what you like to do, then as sarcastic as this sounds? You now get the joy of figuring yourself out! WOOT!!! I was in your shoes about 7 or 8 years ago. Couldn't do the gym, don't much enjoy…

You can buy the cultures to make your own. With a little effort and some practice, it's not that hard to get the hang of it. Then, you have more control over your kefir. Additives, the milk used, the sourness of the final product… Lots more control. Just thought I'd put that out there.

1) Sounds like you're doing road cycling. Have you considered getting a mountain bike or cyclocross bike and hitting the trails? Do you have trees in your area? Forest rides are great and would end your problem. 2) Triathlon tops, or sleeveless cycling jerseys. You'll still get the tan, and if you're not really good with…

I have this boring water pitcher that I brew half gallons of tea in. 3 tea bags in, then the hottest water our tap has. It's hot super hot, but I don't like mine that hot anyway. We've got about a dozen different teas. I love the stuff. Usually caffeine free, or decaffeinated. Some favorites: Herb tea: Gramma's tummy mint.…

Honestly? No, I don't hate it at all. I crave working out. Oh sure it's hard getting started. But getting the hang of it will come. Years ago, when I first started working out, that's when it was the most mentally challenging. I had the hardest time seeing my end result a year or so (or many) down the road. I have a few…

Our treadmill is next to our computer. So I like to basically turn it loud and go to town. Otherwise there's no way I'd make it through. I do basically the same on my bike trainer (a type of stationary bike, sort of). But it's in the basement. So I take the iPod with me. I have some playlists devoted to different workouts,…

I have 3 Life mottos, 2 of which relate to working out, and/or racing. One of them, I even tattooed on my shoulder: 1) If it's not fun, I'm not doing it. 2) Death before DNF.

Toufayan makes a GF wrap that is really good. Do you do much of your own cooking? If so Breads From Anna make really good bread mixes. You may find a bread mix that is exactly what you're looking for. Also, if you're a truly serious cook, it's possible to make plantain tortillas. With nothing in them but mashed plantains.…

OP: Here's the problem: When you ask a few million people what the right answer is, you're going to get page after page of "Here's what you need to do…" Everybody will tell you what worked for THEM and try to convince you it will work for YOU too. It may. Or it may not. Some people are able to eat a donut or 2 every so…

With 2 of our daughters, gluten intolerance manifested through GI issues. Tummy aches all… night… long… Acid reflux. Bowel issues. Constant seemingly incurable constipation. Our oldest daughter ended up in the hospital with stomach problems. They grew to basically hate food. Not knowing what else to do, we took our kids to…

Two of our daughters have gone through similar problems. Let me tell you about one of them, Julia. Julia gets sick a lot, and ends up on antibiotics quite frequently. We never really put 2 n 2 together for a long time, but eventually we started noticing that her stomach, GI, and bowel issues - which were highly irregular…

To a degree, I agree completely. Our house is GF because when it's not, my daughter is sick. There's no "fad" involved. Bread? Sick. No bread? Healthy. Why anybody would WANT to be GF, just for fads and jollies, to be honest, baffles me. Especially with a 9yo kid, it is simply hard as hell. I'd do anything to end the need…

My 9yo daughter is GF and I do most of the cooking in our house, so I'm in charge of keeping her GF. A task that I take VERY seriously. My food diary is open, but I almost never keep it. There's not much you can get from scoping it out. I do, however, share recipes and/or food ideas openly, and am always on the lookout for…

Would it be possible to A) Buy your silly crazy fun snowshoes used, like off ebay or something? Since you know, they really are more of a whimsical thing? And then B) buy all the other gear you need with your $200? This is what I would try to do if I were in your shoes. Whimsy is great. I live and die for whimsy. At the…

I've got 3 daughters - 11, 9, 9. Parenting is hard work- painfully frustratingly hard. You never catch a break. Every episode of your child's life has new and exciting difficulties. I've spent my girls' childhoods looking forward to that next bend in the road, when things will be easier. Well, they're not easier, they're…

I do all the cooking in our house. I have a daughter who's GF, and another daughter who used to be GF before she outgrew her intolerance. In our house, we do a lot of substituting, especially at breakfast time. The more I can substitute without the other kids getting hot and bothered, the better. Breakfast: I found this GF…

You, sir, are brilliant.

Frank's - nasty. Sriracha - DELICIOUS!!! Okay sure it's Asian. But it really does work on everything from Asian to Mexican to Italian, and all things in between. I like to make a breakfast of eggs, spinach, cheese, and some other goodies, and squirt the sriracha all over it. Wrap it in a whole wheat tortilla with a big cup…

A rather annoying comment. Who says she said "Roadie clubs"? She didn't. There are TONS of groups out there doing rides that aren't "roadie clubs". Maybe you should pay more attention to what's said, vs/ what you infer. I stand by my point. You do not need a road bike to go on group rides. Get the bike you want, to do the…

I've got a wife and 3 daughters. I love them dearly. But I love me too. And I need riding time. So I take it. Usually with good feelings all around. But sometimes it gets a little tense. So: Do I sacrifice my ride so I can eliminate the guilt of not being with my family? Or do I sacrifice my family time so I can eliminate…

I say if you're going to do triathlons then get a freaking tri bike. I don't even own a road bike - just a tri bike and a cross bike. Everything I can do on a road bike, I do on my tri bike. I used to own a road bike, but I got rid of it. My tri bike is so much better! Why keep something I'm not using? We have a multitude…

Being home with the girls is still the best job I've ever had.

I'm a stay at home dad with 3 daughters and a wife who works endless hours. I have no guilt. I enjoy my time away from them all. I've earned it, I deserve it, I'm taking it. End that paragraph and move on. Love has nothing to do with how much you're around somebody. Love is quality, not quantity. As long as your kids are…
