Butters, as always, Thanks so very much for taking charge of this. We couldn't have a better team leader. Greystreet, it's good to see you joining in the around the world revelry. It really is tons of fun, and GREAT workout motivation. To the rest of my teammates - Its good to see you guys again! Some are mfpals that I get…

I don't understand why you wouldn't go. If you're healthy, then I just don't get it. Undertrained, okay check. That I get. But I can't imagine walking away from race day because I'm undertrained. That's not something that computes in my brain.

My spoon. I like the zip. What's wrong with just plain? Lots of zip. Sometimes it's nice with some rolled oats n fresh berries.

Really, when you think about it, training for one discipline is in some way or another, always going to hurt the two other disciplines - if for no other reason than you're too busy with one to worry about the other 2. Bike shop people always swear by the importance of the bike, and running shop people always swear by the…

My first thought was you were worried about bouncing back quickly enough from Race1 to do well on Race2. Now I'm starting to think that you're asking about training help. As far as recovery goes, there's plenty of time between the 2 races to bounce back and do well on both. So, no worries there. As far as racing 1 road and…

In my opinion, as long as you don't run your long run at race speed, you're probably far enough out that you won't compromise your race day effort. BUT you really need to get it in NOW, and do it at a nice, relaxed pace. Speed it up? You're toasting your bread early. Wait too long to get it in? You're cooking your noodles…

I don't spin, but I do spend a lot of the winter months on my bike trainer. I LOVE intervals. Is there a relative description of this spin drill that would translate to a bike trainer? Mmm... Intervals...

Own that course.

I joined a Fleet Feet Training Team. We trained for 16 weeks. It was a great experience. Not cheap, but worth every dollar. I learned more that way, than from all the books I've read put together. It changes everything when there's a coach right there for me to bounce questions off of. Good luck, good training, and enjoy.

For me, running is like every other aspect of my life: Some people get it, most people don't. I could spend my time explaining away why I run (actually, I do triathlon, so yes I run. But I also swim and bike.). But who cares, really. People who don't get it won't start getting it just because I tried to explain it to them.…

If swimming is your weakness, the more time in the pool the better. Finding a masters swim group would be highly recommended. It sounds like you're a natural born athlete, so my guess is, with consistent training, a can do attitude, and a good masters group helping you figure it all out? You're going to be tearing up…

This sounds like a good enough distance. Long enough to work up a sweat, short enough that I'm not spending the next few months recovering. 10 it is!

Oh no! So sorry to hear of your husband's melanoma. So glad to hear it was caught, very early. Will be keeping your family in our prayers, that he stays in that 98 percentile. Thanks. Thanks for sharing, and reminding. I'll definitely be keeping this in mind. TriJoe.

I'm no lady but here're my answers anyway: 1) We've been married 17 years with 3 kids. Romance? Yeah right. All that does is reaffirm that I'm a horny old man who's always looking for an excuse to get some. True, but not what this exercise is supposed to be about. 2) Ever since our youngest children were born (twins), I've…

I do it for everybody. Men, women, old, young, black white brown, you name it. It's a simple easy way to be nice to somebody. And it surely seems to me one thing this world could use much more of, is people being nicer to other people. Naive? Simplistic? Possibly, I suppose. But that's not going to stop me. Pointless? Oh…

Oh my my my my my... Well, this seems like a good a time as any to start bursting bubbles. If you think, for one minute, that running a full marathon is the equivalent of running two half marathons, back to back? Oh Dear God In Heaven are you in for some serious hurting. There is simply no comparing the two distances.…

This sounds nutty to me. I can't imagine taking off an entire month after a race. Getting back in the swing of things - even if I'm not very fast or strong - helps control the inevitable chemical imbalance that a long hard race brings on. If I took 26 days off? I'd be the biggest emotional wreck on MFP (which would be…

I have a 1L coffee pot. I can drain that puppy then make more for my wife. Black and strong. Like, really strong. Sometimes, if I was way under yesterday's calories, I'll stir in a spoonful of condensed milk. Needless to say, I try to stay decaf, otherwise I'm a shaky mess. Geez, even with decaf I can still get a caffeine…

Okay, I don't have any constructive advice for getting your pushup done. However I would like to say this: What I really like about your thread - seriously, I REALLY like it - is how determined you are to do one. It can be so easy to just say, "I can't do this, the heck with it, I'll probably never be able to, oh well."…

First off, HUZZAH TO YOU!!! Here's hoping you rock your race! Second off, it's not "just a 5K". 5K's are great. They're fun. They're wonderful. They're amazing. There's nothing - let me repeat NOTHING - "just" about a 5K. Third off, you don't need to carbo load, but who's kidding whom? It sure is fun. If it makes you feel…

If you were one of those types, wouldn't you have brought oatmeal and apple chips instead? I don't eat pancakes, waffles, donuts, breakfast pastries, and that sort of stuff anymore. I used to, oh that's for sure. But not anymore. And I don't give a flying flip who cares why when what or how for my reasons for avoiding…

I cut them in half, gut out the seeds, then roast them cut side down for about an hour. When done, I scoop out the squash, and add some bacon fat (we don't eat butter), salt, a little brown sugar, and pumpkin pie spice. I've also been known to use the squash in a pumpkin pie, instead of the pumpkin. You can't really tell…

Please. Forgive yourself. Sometimes not thinking of something just happens. Okay, what your son went through (and the rest of your family also) was pretty tough. But you learned from it, you improved as a parent, and you're willing to put your difficult story out there so the rest of us don't have to suffer through the…

HELL YES! You think I want to end up like your air lifted person? Oh no no no no... I wear one always A-L-W-A-Y-S. My wife wears one. My daughters wear theirs. NOBODY is allowed on even a razor scooter without a helmet, no exceptions. My family's way too important not to. Now put the period down and end this discussion.…

420 calories per bag sounds right to me, too. I say give the bags to charity and you're done with deceptive gimmicky trickery. Why not just buy and make your popcorn the old fashioned way? Just buy the kernels. You can pop them on the stovetop easy enough, and control exactly what fat and how much of it you use. You can…

About 6 or 7 years ago, I started as a treadmill walker, who never planned on running. Ever. Well, after months of that, I started putting little snippets of running in my walks. The running part kept growing, and the next thing you know, I was out on trails walking and jogging and running and doing it all. Then came the…
