I'm another that weighs daily. I like the data, and it helps me know and be comfortable with my normal fluctuation range. And then it's the trend over time that matters most to me. Like others have said, I feel like if I weighed weekly, I might end up weighing on a day when my weight was randomly higher, but then I might…

What works for me is something with fat and protein in it. Nuts, string cheese, peanut butter, hummus, etc.

Calorie tracking isn't stressful for me. Of course, I don't obsess about any aspect of it. And I'm fairly close to maintenance now, so I'm even more relaxed than I had been at one time. But it has never been a source of stress for me. I wonder what her ideas are for "more effective and less cumbersome ways to shed pounds."

AR here, and no weight on my license. I had to check to see if it was there.

Yeah, I don't think so either. When I was pregnant the second time, I still used MFP. I logged "pregnancy" in my food diary, which adds negative calories, fat, protein, etc into your day.

It hasn't hindered mine. I don't eat a whole jar at a time, but I routinely have a serving here & there with fruit, on rice cakes, etc. I think apples and peanut butter is a great snack--for me, it's better than apples alone, because the fat helps keep me satisfied, where the apples alone would leave me hungry. If…

My maintenance, as calculated by MFP for my current weight and height, is 1430. I'm 5'0" and 118lbs. So yeah, it's possible that her maintenance is 1400.

I definitely know what you're talking about. Years ago when I was dieting, I somehow always thought I needed to eat low fat everything (leftover mindset from the 80's when that was the thing to do). What I finally realized is that a little fat goes a long way toward keeping me satisfied and sane. My solution was to eat…

I'm within 5 lbs of goal now. I don't find it any harder, but it's possibly slower. One reason for me is that, if I stick to a minimum of 1200 calories per day, that will result in an estimated 0.4lb loss per week (according to MFP). For me, the less I weigh, the smaller the defecit I can have. When I weighed more, I could…

2000 calories per day would cause me to gain weight. Even when I was exclusively breastfeeding (i.e burning extra calories), and when I weighed more than I do now, I tried eating 500 extra calories above my maintenance, which put me somewhere between 1900 and 2000 calories per day, and I started gaining weight. I had to…

Somewhere between 300 and 500 extra calories is what is generally recommended, depending on how much you are breastfeeding. Search in the food database and you'll find several options for various stages of breastfeeding that will add negative calories, fat, protein etc. to your day. I'm currently breastfeeding a toddler,…

Mom of 2 here...feel free to add me. I've got about 5 lbs to go.
-
I had a handful last night, so I say yes, eat them, in moderation. And it sounds like that's what you are going to do. My calorie goal is also 1200, even at 0.5 lb/week goal. Maintenance for me is 1440 calories. Gotta love being short. :)

Not very often, but that's mostly because I don't eat gluten, and also because I'm cheap. But otherwise I wouldn't have a problem eating it and either fitting it into my day/week, or just the occasional splurge & move on.

I don't know anything about the plan you mentioned, so I can't comment on its healthiness. For me, though, it wouldn't be sustainable. Do you see yourself being a vegan for ever? I think that's a question you will need to answer. If not, maybe try a different approach. Also, unless you eat in a calorie deficit, no diet…

I made chicken soup yesterday. Yum!

I'm the same. The fluctuations don't bother me, as long as the trend is downward. I think weighing weekly would be more frustrating (for me), because what if the one day that I weighed that week was the one day that, for whatever reason, I jumped up 2 lbs, but the day after I was back down 2lbs and I'd miss seeing it.…

I didn't really cut out any food when breastfeeding. With my first, there was one time I ate really spicy Thai food, and it seemed to not be well received. But generally speaking there wasn't anything I needed to cut out.

Every other day is perfectly fine. If you're not constipated, no worries. No need to intervene.
-
Great!
-
Also, taking measurements and progress pics would probably be more encouraging than weighing alone.
-
It's definitely personal preference. Some people like to weigh once a week, some once a day. I'm somewhere in between. I don't actually remember to weigh daily, but I like to weigh daily. I use a separate app to track weight, and I log my weight every time I weigh. It shows a linear trend, and I actually like more data…

Out of curiosity, I went back to look at my sparkpeople account. Blast from the past! I joined in Jan of 2006. I remember all the points you could get for doing various things. What do you do with all those points?
-
I was on sparkpeople years ago, but to be honest I don't remember much about it.
-
Great job! That's a huge accomplishment!
-
I don't do either. I especially don't do low-fat--I've found that eating enough fat keeps me feeling satisfied longer. In the past when I mistakenly tried low fat diets, I was ALWAYS hungry. Not now. As for carbs--I don't pay much attention to them, to be honest. I certainly don't limit them. Out of curiosity today I went…

Don't be discouraged--it takes time to really see true results. I weigh several times a week, and I see fluctuations up and down, but what is more important to me is the trend over time (at least a month). If the overall trend is going down, that's what counts. Sometimes I think it is helpful to weigh daily and track it,…

As long as you're consistent, it wouldn't matter. I do midnight to midnight, but it might make more sense for you to log from wake up until bed.
-
Agreed--as long as you're consistent, it doesn't really matter. Back when my youngest was a newborn and I was up frequently during the night, I'd use midnight as my cut-off for logging. Anything after midnight would go on the next day. And you don't have to worry about not eating past a certain time of the day--it won't…

Brewers yeast definitely helped me. I baked it into cookies. Didn't taste great, but I did notice a boost in supply. Good luck!
