You can get the ones that hook over your ear.................I have a silly friend who puts earbuds in her ear an then puts a piece of scotch tape across her ear to keep them in place. Crazy but I love her!

I was diagnosed with diabetes and the doctor had me taking 4 insulin injections a day. I felt like a human pin-cushion. He told me if I worked on losing the weight, it could help with the diabetes and possibly less the number of injections. That was all I had to hear. Sometimes you have to have the crap scared out of you…

Let me know how the frozen bberries work out - be careful, there is some splatter inside microwave but forces me to clean it so not a terrible thing!

I brew tea everyday and keep it iced and unsweetened in the fridge. I like Celestial Seasonings True Blueberry tea and will usually throw in a green tea bag for good measure - some say there are benefits. I now add several slices of fresh ginger - heard somewhere it settles a tummy.

My daughter (15 yrs. old) ran her first 5K on Mothers Day. She was VERY nervous. She felt she wouldn't succeed unless she ran the whole thing. Drink water before you go to the event and don't eat right before. My daughter didn't walk any of it but she mis-judged where the finish line was and sprinted too soon. There were…

Agave nectar. It is a natural sweetener (from a plant) and it is also great for diabetics as it doesn't spike your sugar. I think it's 60 calories for a tablespoon but it is organic, from the agave plant. It has the consistency and look of honey, but my husband has it in his coffee everyday and swears by it. You can use it…

Stay focused. I just had my dr. appt. yesterday and was able to lower my cholesterol by 20 points. Exercise, exercise, exercise and healthy eating. Certainly not rocket science..............this forum will certainly help with motivation! Take one day at a time and keep your focus! For me, I have learned to eat little…

I've shared this tip on several occasions but it may work........ Buy some cheap, colored bangle bracelets. I have black, gold and silver. In the morning, I put 5 (you can determine how many), of each color on my right wrist. Black is for water, gold is for fruit and silver is for veggies. As I have a serving of each, I…

Ok - so I've posted several times how much I lovethis bread! Today, I added a few fresh blueberries to the recipes. I know what you're thinking............... yes, there was a little splatter but OMG it was really good!

Plan ahead and pack a soft sided cooler bag. There are certain days my husband needs 3 meals and I plan them all and use snack bags for his little portion controlled snacks. We also cook more than we eat and portion the leftovers in containers to be used again for lunches/dinners during the week.

jJUMP ON THAT TREADMILL!!!!!!!!!!!! When I first joined the gym, I walked in with a cane (talk about sticking out like a sore thumb) and when I did the treadmill and elliptical, I was able to do a whole TWO MINUTES on each. The trainer at the gym said the next day add a little more intensity or a little longer time and do…

Do it! You are there to educate yourself.........don't worry about what others might think! I respect you for taking that first step!!

I would suggest bringing your own snacks/veggies and eat those before sitting down with a group eating a meal you think may be questionable. A healthy snack first can fill you up. I know if I was sitting around a campfire and cooking/eating and just hanging out, I would have a tendency to pick. So bring snacks that you can…

Thank you for your guidance. I feel I'm pretty accurate with my food intake as I've been keeping a food diary the whole time and have been successful in losing weight already. In looking at other food diaries, I see others with the same weight, statistics as I eating more calories that 1200. I am going to try upping my…

THank you for the explanation - it was very helpful I have been so confused about this. I have a question, though.... I lost 120 lbs. over a relatively short period of time without any exercise (I was using a walker/cane at the time). Per doctors orders, I reduced my caloric intake to 1800 then to 1500 then to 1200. I…

Search the subject "Mug Bread" in this forum. Healthy and cheap and a filling bread/muffin. The Flaxseed meal package was $2.99 and the rest of the ingredients are pretty inexpensive. I also like it because it is quick & healthy.

This is my new morning favorite. I must admit, I made it last night after dinner for a snack and split it in half with my hubby. It satisfied the snacky mood I was in, made me feel full and didn't affect my blood sugar. I did as someone suggested and filled snack bags with the pre-measured dry ingredients so it's as easy…
