  • If your car was out of gas would you say "I can wait until later to fuel it" or would you give it some fuel to run on?
  • The thrill of success may be what you are seeking more than the smaller body. Remember it is just as unhealthy to be too thin as it is to be very overweight; you are currently in the healthy range for your height. I suggest you find another challenge that you can find success at for a while, after that if you are still…
  • anyone can call themselves a nutritionist, you don't have to have any kind of specific training; the trainer sounds like someone who has a little information but not enough to say he is knowledgeable. YES eat carbs!!! Carbs are what our body uses for energy, not just for exercise but for living. It is when we overeat our…
  • Good morning ladies! How is everyone doing with "spring forward"? I always get messed up for a few days with daylight savings, though as I get better it seems to be affecting me less (at least that I can tell so far) Bert - I had never heard of a "poke cake" before, but my husband had. I too ask my kids/husband what they…
  • I like veggies and I get my proper amount of servings but I am terrible at getting a good variety! Please change my goal to EAT 4 VEGGIES A DAY
  • Honestly you need to get into therapy. You will learn a lot about yourself and learn some useful tools to help you maintain an appropriate weight
  • good for you coming here! This is a great place to learn, figure things out and meet people in similar circumstances :)
  • Simply not training as much will help out. Don't use them and you'll lose them. Keep eating healthy, keep working out, just not as intensely as you were with the gymnastics. I DON'T recommend a large calorie deficit or lowering protein; be patient, find other ways to workout that don't use as much strength and the muscles…
  • Good morning ladies, how is your weekend going so far? I finished up my papers yesterday much sooner than I anticipated, that is always a nice break. Just kind of did nothing the rest of the day. Now that I have some time on my hands I think I will take a cue from Janet and get some cleaning/organizing done around here as…
  • I don't use a treadmill but I know that when I ride my stationary bike I get bored unless I am following a video with a leader taking me through different scenarios....works even better than watching a show
  • Good morning ladies! I hope you are all having a good start to your weekend Our Salsa Rueda class was successful last night (thanks Janet  ) and we are hoping to continue to get a group coming on a regular basis. Such fun! Today is my last day of school work for the classes I am currently in. Then I have an 8 week…
  • Good morning ladies  Janet - so sorry to hear about your friends' dad; it is good you can be there for her through this hard time, though it sounds like you'll be missing him too Karla - sorry to hear you aren't sleeping well, that can add up and really put a drain on you. I'm glad you were able to sit down with…
  • Good morning ladies! I hope you are enjoying some nicer weather whereever you are! We are having a very rainy day here. Today I am off to teach swing and lindy to my classes. I love teaching these dances and the kids usually love learning them too  These will be their last dance styles to learn for the semester; it…
  • If you are extremely overweight AND under the care of a Dr who tells you to use them, then use them....otherwise do not, you will not be doing yourself any favors
  • Well done, congratulations and thanks for sharing. Your daughters are right in that you will inspire others. I hope you will stick around and help others here who are dealing with similar situations
  • I didn't read through all the responses so I don't know if anyone else said this or not but it really is a matter of semantics. If you have a little information you know you aren't actually "burning fat" but for the lay person it is reasonable to say that you are as you are using the stores in your fat cells for energy at…
  • Your first 8 pounds in a month were just changing diet and possibly water weight. Now is when you really start to lose the weight; stick with it and be patient. You want this to be permanent, right? If so then don't worry if it doesn't come off right away, eat healthy, live healthy and you will be right where you want to…
  • Good morning ladies! Well, I returned the fitbit. I just didn't care for it and don't think it was tracking right. I ordered a Polar HRM instead, it is just a HRM, and I think that is exactly what I want and what will work for me. Patti - That would be great if you could find a Salsa Rueda group near you; it is called by…
  • Good morning ladies! My weekend went well, both dinners were awards banquets, one for our community Chamber and one for the company Brian works for. They were interesting, but long. I had gotten a chiropractic adjustment on Saturday, but I think it got spoiled from sitting so long Saturday night. Had a good visit with my…
  • Garmin has a few options, as well as fitbit, though I believe fitbit is a little more spendy. Each of these has an online dashboard and you can link your information to MFP so you only have to log it once. You could either google each of these, or look at Amazon and their ratings
  • Congratulations! that is very exciting
  • I recommend you take a moment to ask yourself why you are eating each time you are tempted to put something in your mouth. Be honest, don't tell yourself you are finishing your kids' plates because you don't want to waste food, that is an excuse, not a reason. First you have to be honest about the why, then you can start…
  • Good morning ladies, are you ready for the weekend? I agree with Karla that it sounds like a busy one! I hope the weather cooperates with you all for whatever your plans are. I'm off here for a couple days to get things done ahead of time and then off and running. Have a wonderful weekend, I look forward to hearing all…
  • that's a great chart queenliz! melindad, there are so very many variables to all this. Are you new to eating right and exercising? It can take the body a while to "catch up" with you. I think you said you aren't eating back your exercise calories? Your body could be holding on to everything because it feels like it isn't…
  • you do what works best for you. Great job getting moving at work!
  • you have a couple of options. Work out really hard for the day and then save your extra calories for alcohol, or work really hard on a continual basis staying within your calorie goal and then once in a while let yourself go over with a few drinks. Really all of this is about learning moderation so drinking is part of that…

  • I have to agree with the consensus here; don't expect a quick fix. Stick with it....eat healthy, drink TONS of water and exercise on a regular basis; you'll be glad you did
  • moderation, fit it in. Don't give in to "cheating" so soon, you are only cheating yourself
  • you need to fuel your body; would you ask a car to perform the same with less gasoline?
  • I have actually studied this a bit in a Master's degree program class....you need to get counseling. You can have all the knowledge in the world, but it will not solve what is somewhere in there making you feel like you need to binge. Get help, you are worth it
