  • While your daily activities at work will help keep you strong and will probably keep you from gaining weight (and possibly lose it), you should probably still try to get at least 30 min cardio a day since you probably aren't walking fast enough to get aerobic benefit at your job.

  • I don't recommend the really cheap ones that make the "click" sound. They can be finicky and incaccurate depending on where you place it. For a basic model Omron makes some really good ones. All of theirs that are the "Walking Style" line are good and that can be put in a pocket instead of necessarily on your waist band.…
  • You'll think this is funny but I get at least 2000 steps/day just with trips to the bathroom (thanks to my pregnant bladder). I've been working the whole time I've been sick and from my desk to the bathroom is about 200 steps round trip. I go at LEAST once an hour (often more) so by the time I go home from work I have…

  • I'm 6 months pregnant and my food log usually has me recording about 15 cups of water a day. I'm just really thirsty I guess. I do pee a LOT but of course that is normal for pregnancy. I haven't had any leaking though (well maybe when the baby decides to kick my bladder).
  • I'm personally aiming to Average out to 10,000 steps a day. I know there will be days I can't hit that number (like right now being sick) but that's okay and I try to make up for the light days with heavier days elsewhere.

  • Yesterday was a terrible day... between heartburn, severe abdominal cramps (bad enough they caused me to call my OB in concern) and a bad back ache I did nothing but the minimum steps to get through the day. Today should be better. 11/01 - 13,827 11/02 - 12,628 11/03 - 11,750 11/04 - 3,012

  • I failed to mention in my previous post that the way I've been averaging 9000 steps/day has been that I get 10,000-11,000 on 5 days of the week and then 2 light/rest days (5,000 steps) that bring the overall average down to 8500-9500/day. I would like to leave the two rest days alone (I feel like I need those sometimes) so…
  • I'm in. I've been averaging about 8500-9500 steps/day and I'm trying to increase that to 10,000. * Small disclaimer - that is of course assuming that nothing with my pregnancy changes to cause me to need to back off or stop walking altogether. At the time being though my OB and Perinatologist are completely on board with…
  • I always take rest days when I'm sick. Of course when I'm sick it is usually bronchitis or worse (like pneumonia) and my asthma also becomes a factor and without the ability to breathe exercise is pretty much impossible.
  • I like to do incline intervals some days and other days I do speed intervals. Very rarely I will do a combination of incline and speed intervals within the same workout. If I'm not feeling my best and want an "easy" day I might just walk at a moderate pace with 0% incline but I actually tend to enjoy the workouts where I…
  • What is a BCAA?
  • Okay, I think I will go ahead and do the workout. Even though I'm sore, it's not so bad that I won't be able to do the exercises. I'll do my normal treadmill walk first which should at the very least warm up my legs and I'll be sure to stretch after the walk and after the strength moves. I already drink TONS of water (when…
  • My favorites are the Chicken Margherita or the Orange Chicken.
  • Also, is there a way to mark this topic as a "favorite" so I don't have to hunt for it among the other threads?
  • Hi ladies! I'm new to the MFP forums but have been browsing this thread for a few days. Mind if I join you? I'm 25 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child (a girl). I also have a 2 yr old son. Tomorrow is my 35th birthday which I guess officially makes me "Advanced Maternal Age" but I don't feel old! I'm high-risk because I'm a…
  • My tool isn't the same as the others here... I live for virtual trophies like from the Walking With Attitude website I'm on or for the FitBit badges that they give you for being active. It seems silly to be motivated by a virtual trophy or badge but for some reason that motivates me to log steps on my pedometer.
  • I try to walk 30 minutes on my lunch break and 30 minutes in the evening. If it is raining or too hot or too cold at lunchtime then I try to drive to a nearby mall for my lunchtime walking but of course the short drive time cuts into the amount of time I have to actually walk so it might only be a 15 minute walk instead.…
