What in the world does "bump" mean? I see it all the time and I don't think it's a good thing.

Christina Hendricks. I miss Mad Men.

Good luck on your challenge. I personally drink a LOT of water, maybe too much water. My desk is right next to the water cooler so I'm always filling up my 24oz. water bottle and drink between 6-8 bottles a day. I'd be interested if their is such a thing as drinking too much water during the day.

Also, I never stretch before a race now. I do some very light jogging for 5 to 10 minutes prior to the race to get my legs and body use to that motion but since I've stopped streching before running (I stretch afterwards) I'm a much better, faster and longer runner.

I'd try to drink a cup of coffee or caffiene right before the run. It will give you a quick burst of energy right before the race to start strong. Try to find someone else who has experience doing a sub-50 10k. Then run along side them the entire time. If you're using a music player, get a set list together of songs that…

People meet their mate in the strangest of places. In this day and age of hyper communication, who says it can't here?
-
This seams to be a very common topic/problem. I know I'm dealing with it as well. I gotta get into a gym and hit the weights after months of only running outside as my exercise.
-
No, it was rude of them to leave their stuff there. And also, as a guy, even if i was a crazy meat head I think if a girl came up to me and asked if they could use the bench for a little bit if I wasn't using it, I would get my stuff off quickly for them to use it. Heck, i might even get off it in the middle of a set if…

I agree with Vanessa. Cheese is great for protein and calcium. Just not too much.

Are you getting enough sleep?

We need people like you for advice so welcome to the boards.

While I know this is not smart, when I am sick with a cold, at least in the beginning stages of it, if I go out for a run I feel like it clears my system and sweats out the illness. I am sure this is incorrect and maybe it's mental but I always feel better after a run and hardly ever get sick.

You're an inspiration!

All of the good things above but I am also encountering some negative side effects. First, it is more difficult to lose weight now that I've lost about 60 lbs since January. Where once the pounds fell off with good effort of eating well and exercising, now that same effort barely moves the needle. The high I got from the…

Definately not sleeping pills although for a while I was a big user of Tylenol PM but it left me very sleepy in the morning. I would get up earlier in the day, force yourself up earlier, maybe do a run/walk, and then you'll be more tired by the time your bedtime comes.

Could also be a matter of too many miles in your shoes.
-
This will probably be suggested many times but hopefully I'll be the first. Replace your desk chair with an inflatable balancing ball.

Stacey, welcome. We all need friends and support on our journey. I would love to be your friend on this site. The more the better!

well then I know that I am never going to accomplish that for myself no matter how long I work at it. Ha
-
Hey Ashley. I guess it depends on what goals your attempting to accomplish? What exactly are you striving for?
-
Thanks for the suggestion. Only problem is I work at an Investment Bank which requires business formal dress everyday so wearing running shoes with my sneakers is difficult because it would look very strange but less vein of a reason is because I would have to carry my heavy dress shoes and I dont have enough room in my…

HI Nouveau. I am sure their are many different points of view on this subject but the advice I've heard the most is that you have about an hour to eat after a workout in order to help your muscles recover and repair.
-
Thank you everyone for their words of advice and encouragement. They must have helped because I went out this morning and did 8.5 miles, even though it was at a leisurely 6/mph pace, which was the furthest I've ran since I took up running again in January.
-
Nikki, thanks for the advice. I would like to try some interval or speed workouts to pepper into my routine. Do you have any specific workouts which have worked for you?
-
I know that I consider a cup of water 8 oz. and as a runner to sweats a lot during his runs I try to drink between 15 and 20 cups of water a day.
-
Thanks everyone for the input. Sounds like I am confusing BMI with body fat percentage. Sorry!
-
According to my records over the past month I've lost approximately 8 lbs but my BMI has stalled in the high 20s, sometimes reaching 30% Now I understand that day by day it can vary and go up and down but looking over the daily data points over that month it is frustrating to see that BMI stuck in neutral, that's all. What…
