"Exercise is physical activity that is planned, structured, and repetitive for the purpose of conditioning any part of the body. Exercise is used to improve health, maintain fitness and is important as a means of physical rehabilitation" Physical activity is movement of the muscularskeletal system that uses energy. MFP…

This is a major lifestyle change (well done). Our lifestyle is determined by our friends, family, community and environment (working, geographical, etc). When making a lifestyle change your lifestyle has to change. Don't feel bad or pompus about it! That lifestyle your so keen to not upset is the one that got you where you…

^^Agree with all of thsi^^ Very nicely put.

You can agree with it all when I say I don't disagree with you :) I know the benefits and results of strength training and don't disagree with them (or the evidence). And I am not disputing that lifting burns calories and maintains muscle mass etc. It's important to remember the other benefits of cardio as well though, and…

Not sure then. Seems odd the HRM would be so much higher tahn the online calc, especially if you are inputting your average heart rate from the HRM. They should be the same, or close I would have thought. Sorry, no idea.
-
I guess the obvious one is to check you've inputted the details in you HRM correctly. Ie your weight in kgs, not lbs for example?

Sounds like your doctor has prescribed cardio for you, this will have been done for the numerous other health benefits that cardiovascular exercise provides, not just for your weight loss. You have said that you are very overweight, so at the moment you and your doctors priority is to minimise the risk of disease, perhaps…

Interested in this also.

You look HOT  I seperated from my parter 18 months ago and lost 35lbs, and 7" off my waist. Back to how I was when I first met her! It goes to show it's not just about "diet", it's about a lifestyle and mindset change. You gotta be happy in your mind as well as your body. Great job, stay happy, stay healthy!

Mine was 12, so I rank at "2". Only 88 more to go :noway:

Cool :) I've signed up to the logger with my user name from here, so you should be able to find me from that. If you do your initial test and then log your result here we can see where we are starting from: http://hundredpushups.com/test.html#sthash.wB29Rdu3.dpbs Remember, they only count if you maintain good form!

Great job, well done

Take a towel, you'll sweat loads! Great workout for calorie burning and cardiovascular fitness. Don't worry if you have to back-off (sit down or reduce the resistance for example), just get back into it as soon as you can. I'm pretty fit and cycled for years but I can't do a full on spinning session for an hour without…

I think your diary looks great and if you are happy with it I'd stick to what you are doing. It has worked for you and you look like you've made healthy chocies that you should be able to maintain. Otherwise try increasing your portion size a little (as suggested), or add a snack. Maybe add a glass of skimmed milk and a…

Should have said, my new trainers gave me pins and needles/numbness when just standing for any length of time. Found that they had three lace holes to choose from at the top. I tried using the higher one and missing out the middle one and they don't feel any looser but sorted the problem.

Daft question maybe, but did you have them tied a bit too tightly?

Well done on getting out mountain biking, it's a great way of keeping fit! As an avid mountain biker I agree with much of the above. Standing ou of the saddle and cranking a high gear definiately takes you into "strenghth" as far as your quads are concerned. Hill intervals are good. If the hill is too long then alternate…

You haven't wasted your money, as it's a great motivator seeing how many calories you have burned. You should be able to switch the zones off on your monitor (or customise them in the future if required). Once you get fitter, and if you decide to train for something like a marathon, the zones can be useful to help with…

Best phone the ACSM and let them know right away! Think that we shall have to draw a line under this.

He said: "The "fat burning zone" as it is commonly known"
-
The OP did not say that he was in a calorific surplus trying to build muscle mass. He is in a deficit, trying to loose weight. Exercise at between 60-70% of HRM does burn predominantly fats for fuel. The "fat burning zone" as it is commonly known varies for an individual and can be caluclated by monitoring the respitory…

I usually stop for fish and chips and 8 pints of beer on the way home :drinker:
-
I suspect this is the "problem". Not saying avoid it, but it is going to make you hungry. Doesn't matter how much I eat afterwards, I still need something more 3 hours later. I wasn't allowed to eat outisde of break times at work but could drink, so protein shakes became my friend!

Go for a run (or walk, whatever you can manage to start with). Get some resistance bands, cheap (£10 a set) and you can do a ton of exercises with those. Core exercises such as planks, mountain climber, etc. I have a pull-up bar now, and some dumbells rather than the resistance bands. Between those and push-ups there are…
-
We agree, not sure how that makes the OP right? "Cardio doesn't burn fat". Yes it does. "All it does is burn calories", of which fat will be a percentage of those calories.

great job!

Have a think about this statement whilst I laugh for a bit longer...

Thanks all  That's why I posted this I guess, maybe everyone else checks more often than I do, I don't know! But think it's worth lookink at just the starting and today stats as it looks much better than those little monthly or weekly changes. I'm also happier, sleeping better, fitter, less stressed, less irritable,…

Mine goes up and down by 4-5lbs through the week. Just weigh yourself once a week, at the same time. Monday morning, straight out of bed, is my lowest weight for the week for some reason, so I just weigh then.

The protein in the yolk is about the same as the protein in the white (3grms each)
