I love Skinny Pop but can't have it in my house. I eat way too much!

This is a great post: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/902569/barbell-routines-when-you-only-have-dumbbells/p1

I don't think you have a low metabolism, at least not anything to be concerned about or that there is something wrong with you. You are going to have the average TDEE number that you'll find using an online calculator, and some people will be below that, some above, and some right on. It's all just estimations. I have…

I was angry for a long time over the fact that my TDEE is lower than average, around 200 less than calculators show. Until I just accepted it for what it is - an average, an estimate. Some people will have a higher TDEE, some less, some right on the estimate. For what it's worth, I'm 53, 5'1, weight around 120ish, not sure…

Congratulations! Thanks for sharing your success :)

Awesome progress! I can definitely see the changes in your body - your upper back and arms have some definition, your waist dips in nicely, and your butt is perkier! Yay, yay, yay!
-
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing your story, it is very inspiring.

I like to do them occasionally just to see how many I can do. A couple of years ago I couldn't even do one.
-
Lol, I was just thinking the same thing - I think I'll do some push ups this week!
-
Yep. And if you can't do regular push ups, start with your hands on a counter or step and progress from there.

I'm 5'1, and for the first 50 pounds I lost I ate around 1500 total. At that point I stopped losing, so reduced to 1350 total for the last 20 pounds. I am in my early 50's and lightly active.
-
Wow. Huge congratulations to you, very inspirational.

Started: As a teen mom I wanted to get out of the house so started walking with the baby in a stroller. Now that baby is 36. I continued to walk, even when obese, and just always liked how it made me feel. I added yoga for the same reason around 17 years ago, I liked how my body felt afterwards. I started strength training…

Yes, have some cake. The only reason to not have the cake, is if you don't like cake.
-
Yep.

For me getting adequate protein and fat keep me from getting hungry. Read the link 2 posts above for setting your macro and calorie goal.

Resistance training is generally done 3-4 times a week, doing whole body workouts. Add in cardio on the off days, or light cardio on the same days, if you want to do cardio. I get what you're saying about not liking lifting weights. I didn't either, for a long time, but kept at it because I have thin bones and my doctor…

Check out Convict Conditioning or You Are Your Own Gym. You can do it at home, and you are basically using your own bodyweight rather than weights. Whatever program you decide on, you just want to make sure it has built in progression.

When people say they are concerned about my health, I want to ask them why they weren't concerned about me when I was obese.
-
Oatmeal leaves me hungry an hour later. I found once I increased my protein and fat (see link above for setting macros and calories) I had better satiety.
-
How much? How quickly? Best way to make sure it's fat you're losing is to eat at a moderate deficit and do some resistance training.
-
You mentioned that you would like to lose around 10 more pounds. If you do that along with some resistance training, those muscles that you already have (really, you do, even triceps!) should start peaking through. And yes, at 42 you can absolutely have a leaner look. As far as your dislike for lifting weights, you haven't…

I have dealt with this as well. Unfortunately, I don't have a snappy comeback. I usually just give a vague "I'm within a healthy weight range" or "my doctor is very happy with my current weight". I find it so interesting that the same person who is saying it would never dream of telling another "you're too fat", but I…

Hmmmm. Ok. No. I went from not being able to do one bodyweight squat to goblet squats at 40# for 4 sets of 12 in less than a year. And I was 51 when I started strength training. And I'm a woman with hormones and stuff. OP: Go for it, you'll be amazed at how quickly you progress.
-
I started with this routine and loved it. In addition to developing strength, it will also help bone density, something as you woman you need to think about.

I lost steadily for about a year, then stopped losing for about 3 months. I decided I needed to crack down on what I was taking in, so started weighing most of my food. And the weight started coming off again. So, if you're losing, great, no need to weigh your food. If you're not losing, well, it might be something you…

Throughout my weight loss of almost 70 pounds, I kept thinking about what my reward would be. Had to get new clothes, so that didn't count. I never did come to any decision on a grand thing to do or buy. Oh well.
-
I counted calories to lose weight, in addition to weighing most of my food, but towards the end it began to cause problems for me. I found I had become obsessive about it and it was affecting my mindset and family. I slowly began to move away from weighing my food first, then began to remove logging. I lost my last 8…

I lost almost 70 pounds without doing true cardio - I walk 2 miles 4-5 days a week but other than a couple of small hills, I really don't get my heart rate up. I walk because I enjoy it and it gives my husband and I some time together. I started resistance training when I had lost 35 pounds, and have stayed pretty…
