  • It is actually cheaper than my home towns normal gym. Certainly lots of townsfolk told me not to bother because it was "extremely expensive" so I was surprised to find that it was actually about 1/3 of the price I'd been told to expect. I had also been warned about expensive "lock-in" contracts, yet the 12 month contract I…

  • I never said it "Wasn't the diet" for me. In fact I credit it for enormous weight loss. What I am saying is that LONG TERM it is not a good diet to be on. For those with a lot of weight to lose it is nutritionally very poor. I found it super easy to follow, but it saps you of energy so physically you become quite weak, and…
  • Excellent job. I've been there as well. Even better though for me was was a trip to the blood bank about 3 months ago and the person taking my blood pressure had to remove the large cuff and put the normal size one on. Before that it was usually the other way around. That day I couldn't wipe the smile off my face all day…
  • I was on the Dukan Diet for approx 8 months. Lost a LOT of weight, 40 lbs in 8 weeks and another 40 pounds over the next 4 months. Then the weightloss stalled, not just a plateau, this lasted for about 3 months. It is one hell of a long time to go without fruits and carbs, and I went off it in the end. Happy to say that…
  • I'm doing the same, only in Australia. Here the deal is 6 weeks for $84 and I figured what the heck, I'll give it a try. If I like it then I'll force myself to find the money to continue, and if not then it is no great loss.

  • I'd suggest it was just a glitch in your scales. My sometimes do weird things if the battery moves slightly when I knock it to turn the scales on. I also weigh twice a day. Once in the morning for my usual daily weigh-in, and again sometime later in the day to "reset" my scales. For some reason if my weight hasn't changed…
  • there are actually new studies that show the opposite is the case, as in the quicker you lose the more likely you are to keep it off. (Nackers, L.M. et al 2010 International Journal of Medicine 17:161-167) It took six weeks for me on a low carb regime, but I had a LOT to lose. Thankfully not so much now.
  • I always have some one cup size diet jellies in the fridge. I often have one just as I head to bed because it fills me up enough to fall asleep, and at 14 calories it won't ruin my days efforts.
  • Same here. On an aside and assuming that your avatar is your before and after . . . WOW you look great. I really wish now that I had a before photo but I never allowed anyone to photograph me . . . still don't. :ohwell:
  • Certainly see your Dr to get it checked, but try not to stress too much. I had a similar thing happen and was due for a pap smear so the doctor checked it out at the same time. Said it was just normal scar tissue that had accumulated over a number of years (which we all have to some degree) but was obvious to the touch now…
  • Welcome to MFP. That's exactly how I lost my first 40kg. Unfortunately the weightloss stopped after I added the carbs back in, so now back to doing without again. I found when adding the carbs back I also added a few other no-nos. I just couldn't help myself. :embarassed:
  • Welcome Aliceguy. I'm also from Australia but live at the end of the Stuart Highway in SA, so I always read with an aussie accent. Good luck with the weightloss goal, I guarantee it is doable having lost 40kg myself in the last 10 months. I am also a newbie.
