Based on my experience from my first try at a 1/2 Marathon in 2012, do not drink too much water the day before. I drank 90 oz. or so and at mile 12, my body gave out because the water flushed out all my electrolytes. I made it to the finish line, but in an ambulance and 3 units of some solution. I applaud you for taking the first step(s). Walking is very good place to start as far as excericise goes. You can begin with short times and short distances and just increase a little each day/week. My hat is off to you. Keep goin!!

I drank 96 ounces the day before a half marathon last summer and at mile 12, my body gave out. That much water before a race day wipes out all the necessary nutrients to run that long.
