MYSELF! No, really, it's true. I don't really have any friends cheering me on, and my family tends to scoff at my eating habits. However, my family is pretty supportive of my new found passion for running, so they cheer me on in that respect.

Way to go!! My entire life I was under the impression that I would never be a "runner." I started running over the summer and got hooked!! I can now do 4.5 miles without stopping. I ran my first 5k race this morning and am training for a 10k next month. Definitely try out a running program :D

Find a running store near you and go get fitted! It's hard to give advice on shoes over the internet, and if you go to a running store they'll do a gait analysis and tell you exactly what kind of shoe would suit you best :)

Would like to join this group! My name is Sarah and I'm 5'1 and about 125 pounds at the moment. Being short definitely means that every pound looks like ten, as someone already mentioned! My weight loss has been very slow going...I haven't been consistently losing weight...sometimes I will lose a 1/2 pound to a pound in a…

In the same boat here!

Water is the bane of my existence! My weight goes up about 3 pounds if I'm retaining water -- but don't be discouraged, it's only water ;) I'm a huge fan of the tape measure, too!

I'm currently getting ready for a 10k at the end of October (I started "training" at the end of August already able to do 5k comfortably). I'm now up to running 4.5 miles at a stretch. I made up my own training schedule loosely based off of one I found online. To give you an idea, here's my plan for the upcoming week:…

I'm 5'1, about 125 and my thighs are about 22.5" at their thickest part. I've always had a big butt and thighs so they are my trouble areas! However, since I've started working out I have gotten a lot more muscle there, too, which makes a difference in how they look in clothes and stuff :)

Congrats! That's a great accomplishment. I'm running my first 5k in an hour!
-
I'm running my first 5k tomorrow morning -- I routinely run over 3 miles at a time so it should be a breeze, it's just my first real race ;-) ...and good luck on your 10k!! I am running my first one on October 29 -- I'm super excited :)

I'm right there with you! Feel free to add me :)

Sometimes. Right now I'm zig-zagging my calories, so some days I eat a few or none back, and sometimes I eat all of them back. I don't really pay attention to the net calorie thing.
-
Why not go out and take a brisk walk or jog to burn some cals so you don't feel like you have to restrict to a 100-calorie dinner? However, a lean protein source with a heap of veggies is a filling, low-cal meal.

For me, exercising is a solitary activity. I am not an extremely social person to begin with, but when I'm working out I don't like to talk or feel like I have to entertain anyone else in any way! The only time I may socialize is before a class at the gym begins, and normally that's only if someone else initiates the…

Special K or oatmeal with fruit and almond milk, scrambled Egg Beaters, and/or turkey sausage. I "spend" 300-350 calories on breakfast because it's typically my biggest meal of the day.

Search on Youtube for "Pop Pilates"...there are several videos there that target the inner thighs! Also, if you have an exercise ball you can grip it between your knees and squeeze/pulse to work the inner thigh muscles.

I do not understand how people can even lead a normal life taking laxatives daily! Without being too TMI, that stuff means business! Stupid fads...I heard about the cabbage soup one and thought that was pretty revolting.
-
My common sense is telling me that you should not necessarily restrict calories, but just focus on eating nutrient-rich foods (that will benefit you and your baby!) Congratulations :)

I am the same way if I just have a bowl of cereal or a packet of instant oatmeal. I started buying regular rolled oats (still cooks in the microwave) and eating 1/2 c with 1 c almond milk and some berries, and either lean turkey sausage or scrambled Egg Beaters. After adding a better protein source to my breakfasts I am…

I use hummus in lieu of mayo & FlatOut wraps instead of bread too! Love 'em.

- Plain fat-free Greek yogurt instead of sour cream (you can't tell the difference) - My ultimate fave is PB2 instead of peanut butter! - Almond Dream vanilla ice cream instead of Ben & Jerry's :P

My right shin developed pretty much chronic shin splint pain and was giving me problems on my runs, so I finally broke down and bought this: http://www.amazon.com/McDavid-Shin-Splint-Support-Size/dp/B000UVVX2S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1315785659&sr=8-1 I ran with it on yesterday and had NO pain whatsoever! Definitely look…

I was 13 and in 7th grade -- the teachers and admin did not tell us anything except that there had been a terrorist attack. I live about 20 minutes south of the Pentagon, and my dad and plenty of other students' family members worked nearby. Rumors flew...all I heard for most of the day was that the Pentagon had "blown…

Like everyone else has said, you just have to start small and work your way up! I started seriously exercising in June -- at first I mainly walked on the treadmill, used the incline a bit, and started using the elliptical. I only started running after I had the stamina to do 30 minutes straight on the elliptical. After…

I am sadly NOT out of the "roommate years." During undergrad I lived with the same person (plus a couple others) all 4 years, we were best friends, and for the most part everything was perfect. Now that I'm doing my grad year, I have a different roommate who essentially ignores me unless I do something around the apartment…

Missed this topic when it was new, but I am a future teacher! I currently hold a BA in psychology and am in the process of obtaining a MAT (PK-6) from Christopher Newport University. I'll graduate in May and hopefully will have my own classroom for the 2012-2013 school year. I just finished my first week of fall student…
