In three months I went from 32.9% body fat to ...
... 29% body fat! I can see muscles I've never seen before! I'm waiting a little longer to take pictures, but I'm feeling good

Female friends?
Just looking for some new friends on here! I've just started eating at maintenance and doing strength training regularly, with the goal of losing body fat. I've been all over the place in the past, though, so I'm not just looking for friends who share my goals. I'd just like some more friends who are active on here. Add me…

muscles!
I squatted 135 for the first time today!! And on a side note I can't stop touching my arms and my thighs because I can actually feel the muscles even when I'm not flexing! And it's only been a month..

Do you stretch?
Do you do it as a cool-down or warm-up, or do you do it separately from your regular workout? (Forgive me for differentiating between a workout and stretching. I know that for some people stretching is a workout, and I don't mean to discount that at all.) Also, I'm not seeking any advice. Just curious what people are…

I'm confused.
I've gone 12 grams over protein for the day. I exactly hit the right number of fat grams. I have 48 grams of carbohydrates left for the day. And I still have to eat 655 calories to hit my goal. Is this just something funny with MFP's system, or is it entirely possible to meet those goals, more or less? I don't hold strong…

I love lifting weights!
That's all. It's a newfound love, so I'm super excited! In the interest of making this thread a little less useless, I'll ask you this. What's your favorite thing about lifting?

What happens if I eat to maintain my weight but add in strength training?
Forgive me if this has been asked and answered already. I did try to look. So as I understand it weights and a slight deficit will result in loss while retaining muscle. I'd like to know what happens when you eat maintenance and lift weights say four times a week. Does your body composition slowly change? That's what I'm…

When did you know?
It's one thing to realize you need to change your lifestyle. It's another thing to take steps to do so. But it's an entirely different thing to feel it click. When did it happen for you? When did you realize you had made a real, lasting change in your lifestyle? How did you feel?

Will this plan help me lose fat while maintaining muscle?
A little about me first. I'm 28 years old, 66.5 inches tall, and about 150 pounds. I was recently evaluated and found out that my resting metabolic rate requires 1463 calories per day and that to lose half a pound per week without exercise, I should consume 1651 calories per day. I've just started exercising again, running…

Lack of appetite - nutritionally shallow calories or none at all?
I've been experiencing low appetite. So far today (it's 2pm my time) I've only managed to get down a protein bar and a yogurt with some granola.. for a whopping total of 411 calories. I've actually been hungry today, but nothing's agreeing with me when I try to eat it (that protein bar took two sittings, and I didn't even…

45 pounds lost... a year ago.
October 2013 - 189.5 pounds (you can bet I prided myself on never hitting 190, even though I'm sure my doctor's scale would have told a different story :) ) October 2014 - 144.5 pounds I've generally stayed around 145-155 pounds. That high weight was due to about a year of heavy emotional eating, but I managed to get back…

Appetite cycles NOT related to menstrual cycles?
Does anyone here feel like they go through appetite cycles? I've never been very good at eating the right amount. I tend to go through periods of time (months to maybe even a year at a time) where I eat too much and then switch back to periods of time where I'm not eating enough because I have little appetite - and because…

What is a realistic amount of body fat to lose in a month?
I went and had my body fat percentage checked and was at 32.9% (that puts me about 51 pounds of fat and about 105 pounds of fat free mass - oh and I'm 66.5 inches tall in case that's relevant). Anyway I go back on May 7th to check it again, and I'm working to try to get my number down (eating at a deficit while making sure…

A different kind of goal weight?
What are your lifting goals? Do you have specific end goal weights in mind for certain lifts? Do you have goals each time you go in? Do you just want to get stronger in general? I'm not looking for advice. I'm just curious, so please tell me all about your lifting goals! Thanks! ☺

If I manage to avoid __________, I can stay on track with eating.
I know, I know. No foods are off limits. It's all about moderation. I totally get that, but for some of us - especially those of us who are just starting to eat conscientiously - there are certain foods or places or activities or whatever that tend to throw us off track. If there's nothing like that in your life, that's…

How do I avoid calluses when lifting weights?
The first few times I went bare-handed, but then I went and bought a pair of gloves. I just bought the first pair I found. Turns out I was still getting calluses, so just yesterday I bought a new pair. I spent a little more money (not much more but a little), and I got a pair with more padding. They're also much more…

Any tips for changing my attitude in the morning?
I don't have any trouble waking up or getting out of bed in the morning, but lately I tend to wake up in a foul mood, almost to the point of feeling angry. I wake up at five to get my husband to work on time (we share a car), and then I have the option of napping in the car or going to the gym until I have to be at work at…

Inaccurate logging streak?
So MFP says I've logged fifteen days in a row, but with the exception of maybe one week (or less) I've only been logging exercise, as I haven't started to get diligent about my food intake yet. Anyway, I understand that when I log exercise but not food it still technically counts as a day logged, but there have been a few…

One thing at a time?
Did anyone else focus on regular exercise before focusing on eating right? I've been trying to eat more sensibly and count calories, but I've still been having my bad days. I have, however, been to the gym or out running/jogging for twelve of the last fifteen days. (In fact, I tried to get out of the gym last night, and my…

Anyone else have trouble losing weight the right way?
I have trouble eating the right amount. I've always tended to eat too much or too little, but I've always maintained a fairly steady weight.. until about two years ago when my eating-too-much mode got worse than ever before. I gained about fifty pounds in one year. I'm happy to say that after a year of gaining, I started a…
