2015 MFP Giro d'Italia Challenge - Graham Watson Thread

As mentioned in the Discussion thread, This year, a new innovation is an additional award, which I'm Calling the Graham Watson Award.
For those of you who don't recognise the name, Graham is pretty much the top dog when it comes to racing cycling photography - if you have spent any time whatsoever looking at bike race Images, chances are you've seen an awful lot of his work. Have a look here - http://www.grahamwatson.com/ - at some of the galleries, and you'll realise just how all pervasive his stuff is.
So, as you may guess, in parallel with the "Ride Logging" thread, we're going to have a "Photo Logging" thread, and at the end of the thread, I'll organise an independent judge to view the thread and declare a 1-2-3 of the Images submitted.
Please don't feel like you've got to submit something from every ride, just do something if it takes your eye, and it's generally "on topic" - the judge will be briefed to be looking for things that fit the theme of the Giro d'Italia - so I'm expecting a fair amount of Pink Jerseys, Tricolore's and generally people looking "Bella en Sella", as well as stunning views (with a bike propped up in frame somewhere)
If you wish to add a bit of a "ride report" with the photo, then all the better - I really think that the whole reporting thing added quite a bit to the experience of the Classics Challenge - both from my part, and for most of the people participating... I know I'd be thinking "I wonder where everyone's been and what stories they will have to tell" when I was riding the back half of my rides this year.
Thread is open for Submissions captured on any day 9th May through to 31st May and will close a few days afterwards - but the "rest day" shots shouldn't really be ride related. I've already got one planned with the bike in the workstand getting washed down

okay, one from my "Second Ride" of Stage 2...
Yep - I had an Ulterior Motive... Not very Italian (other than to stretch a point it looks like a MAHOOOSIVE espresso with a very bright Crema!) but it went down very nicely...

We had rain all last week and then on the last day of the deluge, it turned to snow in the night. I had my fingers crossed for enough warmth to pull a couple miles and it just barely made it there. Now - make that the last spring snow storm please.0 -
Needed a little luck the first day...

Bella en Sella... or, a bella sella anyway

Felt like posting a picture from a race i did yesterday. I'm on the left. Wonderful race in wales up a big hill for 7.5 miles of 1000ft+ then down it and towards a small town for three laps of a 9 mile circuit to finish. Over 4,000ft of climbing in total over 64 miles at 22.5mph. I didn't manage to stick with the main bunch as there was a big split around half way and although i tried i couldn't bridge across so i waiting for a small group of around 12 riders to catch me and we formed a chain gang until the finish. One tough day in the saddle but a lovely race!

In Deadwood, they told a person there might be falling rocks coming down the trail. That's very nice of them.0

This was also in Deadwood before the town went to work. I thought it would feel like cobbles but no, way too smooth. I think I was born in the wrong time period though I would hate to have to wear a dress every day. I just don't think we build handsome buildings anymore. I love the older building styles.

Now this is a trail that needed 'watch for falling rock' signs. Or perhaps its so common place, its just assumed you know to duck. On this section, it use to be part of the highway before they put up the barrier. On other sections, it is the old highway which is now closed. The scenery is gorgeous and I want to ride the whole route from Denver to Grand Junction some nice warm summer week.

The Colorado River near Glenwood Springs.

And this, while it showed up in Strava due to being loaded to Instgram, is NOT something I would even think of riding by or near with my bicycle. They've been known to charge a car if annoyed. This big guy just ignored me slowing down to take his picture. But isn't he beautiful?
