So for those of you that see patients, do you share your own weight loss stories/tips with your overweight/obese patients when counseling about risk reduction for obesity/hypertension/diabetes?

Working an emergency department I actually do find time to give out some weight loss suggestions/tips. I put this website in the discharge instructions for patients that can benefit. The part about the website being free is a big draw. I figure if 1 out of 100 people I see find this site, lose weight and improve their health then I won't have to right that one extra note at the end of my shift...eventually.

I share. I've been recommending weight loss even when I was obese. I would say, "Obviously I struggle with weight too, but that doesn't mean that I shouldn't recommend to you to lose weight. You will be so much healthier, you (fill in condition here) will improve." Now, I say, "You know I used to be much heavier. I feel much better now. I want the same thing for you."
