I just got a cheapy argos special one with a chest strap super easy to use and if I become a hard core exercise freak ill get a good one :-)

Good plan I think, if you come to rely on it and use it to drive your fitness forward then you know it will be worth upgrading. If not then you haven't wasted a ton of cash !
My thoughts too which is why i bought the Lidls one for £12.99. I love it. It seems to work great too.
Yup my thoughts exactly :-) as a casual user a cheapy would do the job and at £15 in a sale if I decide not to ever use it its no great loss :-)

The one I got from Argos for £14.99 gives me avg heart rate and max rate , tis enough for me then I use a website to put that into a calorie number :-) bargain and seems to work well compared to me counting my heart rate

Bekkie, which website do you use? I use http://www.braydenwm.com/calburn.htm which was the first one I found, so it would be interesting to try out some other ones to see if I'm getting an accurate reading!

I have checked that one before but I think something is wrong there. See if you increase your weight the calories burn decrease rather than increase??
