After 12 years..

I started riding 12 years ago, and now it's my job as well as my life. But I was wondering.. is it still considered cardio after that long? What is all of your opinions? Should I no longer log it? I currently log it as horse riding, walking, even if I was jumping or gaming. And I log about half the time instead of the full amount. What do you guys think I should do?

Interesting point! Whilst it's still 'exercise' in the sense that you are burning calories through some form of activity, if you do it as a job/way-of-life then this activity level will be already be reflected in your calorie 'entitlement' because you would have entered yourself as moderately active or something, I suppose, and you'd have to do something over your normal daily activity to log it as exercise to earn more calories.

Well, my thing currently is set at the lowest daily activity level, I never entered in riding horses in that.

In that case, I'd say you should log what you do riding-wise  Or adjust your daily activity and don't include it

Ive been riding all my life and it still tires me out if I do a few hours or an intensive lesson so I recon it uses calories. If you were a professional runner you would still burn calories doing a sprint or a marathon even tho your body is used to it:-)
  • You would still burn calories being a marathon runner, but wouldn't your body become more efficient at the energy expenditure of that activity? That is why it is recommended to change up the exercise program every 3 months, right? I've been riding all my life but I'm not riding 3+ horses/day at upper levels.
My metabolism is one step away from going in reverse so I don't think I burn near as many calories riding as allotted in this app. :ohwell:
