Torchlight 2

Anyone else looking forward to this? I can't wait. It's like Diablo 3, but, my computer can run it, where it can't run D3 comfortably. T2 also is going to have online multiplayer (up to 4) so am hoping to have some MFPers to game with! ^_^

I really cannot wait for it, I've held off buying Diablo 3 as everyone I know that's played it all agree it's totally overpriced for what it is, Torchlight 2 looks like the happy alternative0

I so want to play this with the hubby! I love the art style.0

I like Max Schaefer and Torchlight was a bit of fresh breath over Diablo II. Diablo III had the potential (early builds were amazing) to surpass both Torchlight and D2 by far but Blizzard preferred to turn it into an AH game, a stock market. Torchlight II release date keeps getting pushed forward since they also have an ongoing MMO project but we'll see.0

Played a lot during the beta, it was great. Where Torchlight 1 was clearly a game pushed out to fund bigger projects, Torchlight 2 feel like a much more fleshed out world.
If you want to see some number stats of 1 vs 2, this is a great chart Runic put out:
http://www.runicgamesfansite.com/content/attachments/4480d1342858461-tl1vstl2.jpg.html
44 unique areas vs 7 in the original among some of the highlights. So awesome.0 -
Also very excited here. I have avoided buying D3 because I tend to obsess on Blizzard games, and while I am pursuing my Master's degree, I cannot afford to sink as much time into games. However, Torchlight has been great for a quick fix0

I WANT - gimme, gimme, gimme0

Hopefully we can all join up for a few games when it comes out!0

Oh yeah, I already have it preordered.
If you guys want, add me on steam. I think it's the same thing as this name: jpcamden.0 -

I will be ordering this next week, anyone know when it's out?
Will be up for co-op action: Yesiamaduck201
or Yesiamaduck
Really not sure which one you need to add because I'm under Yesiamaduck201 but got by the ID of Yesiamaduck0 -

All they've said is it will be out when it's done. They were hoping to get it out a month after Diablo 3 but that's already passed. I don't mind waiting for a finished product instead of what we usually get. Unfinished stuff then DLC/patches on launch.0 -

The day before Borderlands 2.

From what I understood, BL2 (XBox) US release should be Sept 18 and the EU release is Sept 21.
I've already pre-ordered TL2 via Steam and it'll make a good second game while my BL2 group isn't playing.0 -
Yep, I'll be there! I played the shizzle out of the original, so really looking forward to 2!0

Never played Torchlight, but it looks like something I could get into. Please feel free to add me on Steam: Poshcouture. Also, there's a MFP group if you're interested.0

I've had the game preordered forever. The original TL was far superior to D3 already gameplay-wise. Can't wait to see 2!0

Great hour long interview with Max Schaffer from Runic games along with a bunch of gameplay.

Between this and Borderlands 2 this week, going to have to manage my time wisely.

Got this on Steam pre-order and had almost forgotten about it! Hoping it will be a world apart from D3 which was just a grind fest and not at all fun.
You can add me on steam... if I can remember what I'm called there0 -
I need to order this tonight. I coincidentally have Friday off, so I guess I'll be playing this...0

Pre-ordered, and pre-loaded (check your Steam, you should be able to download it now, and have it already to play when they release it.) Should be about an hour from now. Can't wait!
To get you in the proper state-of-mind, Runic released their FREE Torchlight II Soundtrack. Here's the link:

Listening to it now and waiting! Gonna play around with a "pet-class" specced Engineer, although I'm also pretty tempted by the Outlander.
See ya there!0 -
I'm thinking Embermage. I'm a fantasy freak, and I love flinging fireballs. I'm arthemise on Steam.0

Looks like it's a hit on Steam. Unfortunately, Runic Games is having problems with their matchmaking servers. I guess tens of thousands of people hammering them at once will do that.
Hopefully they straighten it out soon.
In the meantime you can use Tunngle to play with friends.
edit - add me on Steam and we'll play together. Username is trouserchili990 -
Yeah, I couldn't get on their website to make an account, so hubby and I played together. It's pretty cool -- a lot like Diablo III. I kinda wanted something cooler. We'll see where the story goes. I like the art a lot.0

Couldnt get this to even download this morning. I think Runic's servers have fallen over under the strain. Certainly, clicking "download" was met with stoney silence and even Torchlight wouldnt run.0

loving this game. havent been able to do multiplayer yet cause of their account creation being down, but the single player is awesome. im running dual games with both berserker and outlander. awesome.0

Go to tunngle.net and get their software. It simulates LAN play and there are TONS of people playing on there. In fact, Runic Games are endorsing it on twitter until they get their servers running right.0 -
Loving it so far. I started one of each class just to get a feel for them all, but settled on the Engineer. Got up to level 27 tonight, really kicking butt. I'm in Act II now. Went with a Construction-heavy build, mostly using a heavy cannon at range and throwing out spider mines like beads at Mardi Gras! I've put a few points in other tabs, but mostly Construction for bots and beefy armor. I've been toying with dumping some points in Aegis to get the Force Field, but about the time I think about it, the next level on one of my bots opens! LOL!
Looking forward to seeing what the modders do with this one! Would really like to see the one that unlocks the camera so you can pan and swivel the view. Had that one on the first Torchlight, and it plays almost like a whole different game that way. It's also nice for checking out the awesome scenery; the artists render everything in 3D, seems a shame not to see it that way.0 -
Started playing this yesterday.
I thought the intro sucked...or at least I skipped through it. Having played Diablo 3 (50+ hours), the differences were startling. Character creation I wondered what was going on as it looked very poor quality. I thought I was maybe playing Torchlight 1 again by mistake. I was also disappointed by the choice of only 4 character types (engineer, outlander, berserker and mage) and the varieties of charcter skins was very limited. I actually checked my settings in case I had put them to 600*480 or something by mistake.
However, I carried on and launched the game. In game, I stopped again to check that I hadnt selected the wrong settings again as it looked "less than great". I dialled everything up to max (it was just about already) and I realised that if "nothing else" it was playing at a great frame rate and would be able to be played on most people's computers. So anyway, feeling slightly underwhelmed, I continued on.
I was a little unsure how to play the game in part. Things like being able to switch between skills (TAB) I was unsure of and I was unsure how to tell clearly if an item was better. My skills seemed under powered and the game seemed a bit...dull. That was on barbarian. A couple of skills later and some more understanding and I was enjoying it a lot more. It was enjoyable, but not amazing. The amount that its ripped off / copied Diablo 3 is amazing and I dont understand why one or the other of them hasn't sued. The music sounds the same as Diablo and its got Ratlings and numerous other thigns that are almost identical to D3.
Anyway, I then created an Outlander and jumped into an online game (way easier than D3) and thats where it took off! For one thing there were 6 of us and the game was fluid and lag free and FUN. Within moments I was level 5. I was dashing along, not even pausing to get my skills and attributes sorted or equiping items. It was only when I got back into solo play (and its great that you can use the same char in each), that I could calm down and check.
With a few skills selected and a few items, the game opened up and what had previously been dull became a great game. I no longer noticed the graphics, I was just enjoying myself and killing loads of mobs and struggling with bosses as I should do. Chains of exploding mobs is a sight to behold.
So, slow start, but in the end way better than D3. Its just more fun and it just works. Skills are good. Equipment keeps coming in and improving. I need to check out the Embermage and the Engineer... maybe tonight.0
