I agree with the top 4, then the meat eater thing and the good listener..but I like brown eyes, and don't care about languages and would appreciate romance and good bedroom skills lol

I agree with the list except for the languages and the eyes. I personally prefer green eyes, but what's a girl to do?

I don't care about eye color, speaking 2 languages , what kind of car he drives, or what he does for a living, as long as he makes a decent salary and is responsible. I'd prefer good in bed rather than romantic if I had to choose but both would be nice. They forgot good communicator and integrity.
  • Honesty. -- YES

    Kindness. -- YES

Intelligence. -- YES - this does not mean he has to be college educated.

Has a good sense of humour. -- BIG YES

More likely to have blue eyes than brown. -- Eh, I love dark eyes... blue are okay too. Mine are grey.

Speaks at least two languages. --- Couldn't care less.

More important that he is romantic than good in bed. -- Nope -- both should be equal but if he's romantic but lame in the sack it's not going to last.

Meat eaters are preferred to vegetarians. -- Definitely meat eaters!

Is a good listener. -- YES

Survey findings – moderately important characteristics:

Drives a European car. -- ROFL -- NOPE, love me a nice American-made truck... but hell, even some American mades are made off shore now.

Wears a suit to work. -- NOPE - I like rustic, rough & tumble. But uniforms yes.... police, firefighters, ... yummy
Has a degree. -- Don't care as long as he's intelligent... see above.
Is clean shaven. -- Definitely... NOT. Love some good scruff or at least every now and then.

What do men think makes themselves ideal (more so than women)?

The ability to provide for their families. -- Somewhat.. it's a group effort.
    Confidence. -- YES
    Style. -- Eh...

Survey findings – what makes a man close to ideal?

    Honesty. - Most important.

Kindness. - Arbitrary and determined by the individual. (what I mean is, this doesn't actually say or define anything tangible)

    Intelligence. - Second most important.

Has a good sense of humour. - Again, arbitrary and changes from person to person. I would say a compatible sense of humor.

More likely to have blue eyes than brown. - No preference.

Speaks at least two languages. - cool, but not important.

More important that he is romantic than good in bed. - Opposite actually. I would rather a guy be a romantic clod but a damn good throw down.

Meat eaters are preferred to vegetarians. - I wouldn't date a guy that didn't at least love bacon as much as I do. ;)

Is a good listener. - Eh. On a general basis I'm totally okay if he wants to tone me out while I'm nerding out on something. But if a real issue arises then yeah, pay attention.

Survey findings – moderately important characteristics:

Drives a European car. - No preference. As long as it's not a smart car.
Wears a suit to work. - Don't care.
Has a degree. - As long as he's successful in what he does I don't care.
Is clean shaven. - I prefer scruff

What do men think makes themselves ideal (more so than women)?

The ability to provide for their families. - yeah.
    Confidence. - Hell yeah.
    Style. - Least concern.

How about "Super hot"? Why is that not on the list? I mean, we're going for ideal right?

Agree with Shel 100%. I LOVE scruff, hehe. Intelligence and education are not the same. The car or truck he drives is not important as long as it's reliable. Languages? Heck, no! I studied engineering and enjoyed skipping the foreign language requirement, haha. Nice but definitely not something I look for. And lastly, it's not the color of the eyes that matter.... it's the look behind them!

Too funny! My minor was Modern Languages (German) and most of my CE classmates studied either German or Italian (though don't think any others got minors in them). I love foreign languages though it is the one subject I could never pick up naturally and struggle with.

Subaru is Japanese. I'd be wary of any girl that couldn't name 3 European car companies.

Survey findings – what makes a man close to ideal?

Honesty. -- YES! This is critical!

    Kindness. -- yes

Intelligence. -- YES! I need someone who can keep up with my geeky side, and challenge me in debates and discussions, otherwise I'll get bored.

Has a good sense of humour. -- YES... specifically that he has a compatible sense of humour.

More likely to have blue eyes than brown. -- meh... I don't really care about this

Speaks at least two languages. -- Not necessarily, but seeing as I am francophone and switch from French to English (and back) within a convo, it would be a definite bonus!

More important that he is romantic than good in bed. -- Meh... Ideally I'd want both, but I think sexual compatibility is really important if something is going to last.

Meat eaters are preferred to vegetarians. -- YES!

Is a good listener. -- YES!

Survey findings – moderately important characteristics:

Drives a European car. -- Absolutely not! (though the guy I'm currently dating drives a volkswagen)
Wears a suit to work. -- No... but I like that he can dress up if needed.
Has a degree. -- Yes... at least a bachelors is ideal
Is clean shaven. -- Not necessarily if he keeps his facial hair clean and trims it.

What do men think makes themselves ideal (more so than women)?

The ability to provide for their families. -- It's a partnership... so it goes both ways
    Confidence. -- Yes!
Style. -- Yes (or is willing to let me help him in this domain!)

My mother raves about her Subaru and it's handling in cold weather. I hate it. But I love my Ford truck and it handles like crap in the snow.

Subaru was an anomaly for Japanese cars too.
They would run forever, usually on 2 cylinders when the body finally fell off the things but were terribly expensive to maintain.
Dual converters in the Y pipe from the opposed engines and welded all the way through, several hundred dollars no matter what happened to any part of the original.
Timing belts that failed regularly (still remember the part numbers).
They were the Pinto of Japanese cars.
