So frustrated!!!...need some advice

So I am very frustrated right now and am battling with eating junk food, which I know will just make this whole situation ten times worse!

I hurt my knee while running and last week I had surgery to see what was wrong and it turned out I had a torn meniscus which had to be repaired plus I had a torn off piece of cartilage stuck under my knee cap (after the surgery all my dr said was that it was a simple tear and simple fix). After the surgery my Dr. just visited with me for a minute and all she said about my recovery was "use pain as your guide" and I could stop using my crutches whenever I felt like it. Well I went to my post-op appointment yesterday and found out the damage to my knee was pretty extensive (which my Dr. didn't tell me) and I need to be off it for 4 weeks and it will take 4-8 weeks to heal completely. In the meantime, I have to do physical therapy, not be on it for more than an hour at a time and I'm not supposed to be carrying anything heavy aka my 2 year old or 10 month old. I am so upset right now because I had thought it was just a simple thing and I'd be back to normal and I was walking on it and not using crutches all because the first Dr. was too busy to take the time to really explain the surgery and what happened to me.

Now I have to figure out how to take care of my kids for the next few weeks while resting my knee because if i do too much I will re-tear it and have to have the surgery again. I have family about 2hrs away, but of course the only person willing to help is my mom and I feel bad asking her to come help again when she was just here for a week. Not to mention I love working out and usually am very active and now I have to find other ways of exercising that don't involve standing or bending me knee. Has anyone else had a knee injury? I could really use some advice or input on how I'm gonna handle all this for the next few weeks.

while school is out, is it possible to hire a "mothers helper"? A student who is around for the summer, likes kids and can be active/attentive to them? For references, check a girl scout troup near you or the Red Cross, they have babysitting courses and may have a referral sheet.

    Good Luck and speedy recovery!
