The case for the older woman.

Having a permanent erection doesnt make you a good lover!! :flowerforyou:
Age, as usual, is immaterial - there are some horny 20somethings and some hornier 50 somethings!! Equally, some men in their 20s can't be bothered more than once a week, and some men in their 40's want it every night!
The same can be said of women.
ETA: Also, I've found, regardless of age, the more single you are the hornier you are! Simply because you're not getting any!! Conversely when you're in a LTR your libido is more stable. Again, true of men and women. But I hate to generalise!!0 -
Poncho .. you look like this guy ..

This topic came at a great time - I have been wanting to post something similar so thanks Mike!
I am 38 single, successful in a good career, completely independent, a bit of an old soul and I think it has shaped my dating history.
In high school and university I dated my age then from mid twenties onwards I have always gone out with older men, usually 10-12 years older than me but they typically fell into 2 categories: 1) Never been married and complete committment phobes or 2) Divorced with tons of baggage and in one case multiple ex wives and kids...
So now, I am 38, so over the older man thing, men my age do not look at me twice (they usually are into my much younger sister) or are married. Lots of my friends in my age bracket are dating and marrying men who are 5-8 years younger than them and guess what, they are all VERY happy!
I think if I met someone who was 25 and mature enough, and was not looking for a mommy or sugar mama, I would definitely be into that! :happy:0 -

The women of MFP certainly didn't disappoint, thank you for your insight.
My only recommendation for girls that are on the fence about dating a younger guy, is just to give it a shot. I know there are a lot of young guys that just think it'd be fun to score with an older women, but that isn't the case most of the time.0 -
I'm open to trying it, but I don't think I'm any younger guys' type.0

I doubt that! You shoot guns and go bowling. You're every young guys dream0 -
I am not opposed to dating younger, but I haven't because all of the younger guys that are into me act like they're even younger than they are.0

I seem to attrack mostly younger or my age guys..... Being 31 I dont know if I fall into the older woman catagory. I will date a younger guy and I will date an older guy it depends on the guy lol0
-
well, the guy that messaged me the " let's just *kitten* tonight" was 21....... i have never been with a guy that young. i have been approached by several guys in their mid 20s though.
a girlfriend of mine ( my age) is dating a 27 yr old right now. they are living together and everything...... she seems very happy!!!!
ages are just numbers. they don't mean as much as the personality of the person they attached to!! ;-)0 -

Apparently I look younger than my 35 years of age. While it's not something I'm sad about, it does tend to attract two sets of guys. 1. Younger men that think I'm their age
2. Older men that are hoping I'm much younger than I actually am. ><
If the younger guy seemed mature and together, I would consider him. But that hasn't been the case for me when I've been approached.
Most of the older guys decide they aren't interested when they find out how old I am, so I wouldn't know anything about that side.
Age is a number, but it is sort of frustrating (Humiliating at times) when you talk about something that was your history/childhood and you get a blank stare. lol0 -
... and THIS is why I'm constantly getting hit on by guys in their late 40s early 50s. The young guys are stealing women their age, so they come after us.However, I really think it's that I'm fiercely independent and mature and I think I really seek that in a partner. Most women my age are still in the weekend partying, not settled in their career, and just a little too wild. After a crazy week at work, the last thing I want to do is go to a club until 2 in the morning. I'd rather pick up some pizza and watch a Netflix movie.0

Well, let's just get this out of the way. Women get significantly more horny after the age of 30, and young men are better able to fill certain needs than older ones.
Oh, I have a younger man who knows what to do.
But what I'm referring to is frequency. Guys in their 20s are basically walking erections, and to a woman who is at her sexual peak, it's like being a kid at FAO Schwarz.
I've been celibate for 3 years...I think I need to find me a younger man)))

For men it's (usually) about sex, certainly in the beginning. Older women seem to be the "in" thing now (MILF's, Cougar Town, etc.), making it more socially acceptable.
As for me personally, it really depends. Older, younger, etc. Sure, why not, so long as there is an attraction. I'm not sure I could have a serious (i.e. long term) relationship with someone much older than me, but you never know.
To the OP: are you interested in dating older women for sex, or are you looking for a serious relationship that could lead to marriage with an older woman?
Also, if you've just ended a long term relationship with a younger woman, you may be looking for her opposite. My ex-wife was super thin, which is probably why I find myself really attracted to curvy women now... ;-)

The hardest thing about hooking a mature women is getting her to take you seriously. But once I can do that, I'm in good shape. Question to the women, what would make you go for a guy who is 10-15 years younger than you?
Absolutely! My mom keeps telling me to leave the old men alone and go find a young buck. Worked for her, lol!
The problem is, most times I've been approached by a man significantly younger either:
1. he didn't realize how old I was. This happens fairly often, because I'm highly adventurous and hang out with a younger crowd, and then they lose interest but that's ok- I'm flattered they were interested
2. if he DOES know I'm older it's because he wants sex, and he thinks because I'm single yet in my prime I'll give it up easier. Plain and simple.
So for any guys who seriously want a woman significantly older, my advice is to work on building an emotional connection first- a real relationship, and hold back on the sex for now (even if she's totally HOT) and letting her know that you really want her physically, but first you want to build a relationship. Just keep in mind, what bonds a woman and what bonds a man are so different that you have to figure out what bonds her (non sexual affection, emotional connection, talking, etc).0 -
i own pots and pans older than my betrothed. lol meow.0

I ran into this buzzsaw alot. Older women just didn't take me seriously, it was more sex and flirtation basically just using me to boost her own ego. Perhaps its just a been there/done that aspect that makes her not want to be bothered i guess. Pretty much why i've shyed away from them now as i feel i have more to offer0

As some of you know, I divulge a little bit of my dating experiences with the forums every once in a while. My "thing" over the past couple of years has been dating women who are considerably older than me. Before the topic of sugar-mama comes up, my situation has absolutely nothing to do with money (as I do pretty well and live a responsible lifestyle). For some reason, older women just really turn me on and do it for me. Does anyone else agree with me?
I wanted to dive into my psyche to figure out why I think like this. I've never had a close relationship with my parents growing up.. maybe that's it. However, I really think it's that I'm fiercely independent and mature and I think I really seek that in a partner. Most women my age are still in the weekend partying, not settled in their career, and just a little too wild. After a crazy week at work, the last thing I want to do is go to a club until 2 in the morning. I'd rather pick up some pizza and watch a Netflix movie.

Just fyi, I am 6 years older than my husband.
We met when I was 27 and he was 21. I know several woman who are older than their spouse. My husband has always said that he really liked the fact that he didn't have to deal with all the emotional imbalance and bs that came with dating girls his age. I don't think there is anything wrong with liking women who are older than you. I mean then again my husband and I do have a lot of things in common.0 -
I'm 37, and I seem to attract more younger men than I do older men. I tend to not take them too serious, though, because I think they usually just want sex. I would have a hard time dating someone 15 yrs younger. It would just feel wrong. 10 yrs younger? I don't know. But there is this 29 yr old that won't leave me alone... I've toyed with the idea. My ex is six years younger than me. For me, the issue of having a family is generally the breaking point. I have 3 kids already and can't have more kids. If a guy wants children of his own, we just aren't a good fit. However, if he just wants to go out and have fun or laugh, I might be up for that.
Edit: To answer your question, I agree with Janie. For me to take a young guy, or any guy, seriously, for that matter, would be for him to have a conversation with me without telling me how hot or how sexy I am or how hard I make him. (I mean, save that for later.) Don't get me wrong. I love compliments. But what really cranks my motor is for a man to take an interest in ME, in my mind, in my humor, in my life.

I hope this helps you out. I am an older woman who ends up dating younger men because I look so young myself. At 41 what I am looking for at present seems impossible to find here in Kansas.(Sure do miss those Southern men!) I look for a secure, stable, and dependable guy who isn’t afraid to be goofy and still has that boyish handsomeness to him. I look for someone who has a track record of proven responsibility. I am looking for a man who is both articulate and educated. I want to share similar values and aspirations. I want to find someone to grow old with and try and start a family with. Most men my age are past wanting children, so many of them don’t take pride in themselves. I just prefer boyish good looks. Add a great smiles and some beautiful eyes and I am smitten. Dating is so hard and I am tired of coming across the damaged guys or what seems to be the players.
If this helps this is what I have on my POF profile:
I am the kind of girl that easily adapts to a variety of situations. Whether it’s hiking boots and camping or a party dress and an evening out on the town I will have fun no matter what. I am happiest when I am outside enjoying a cool breeze, listening to the sounds of nature, and sitting under a blanket of twinkling stars. I am still acclimating to life here in Kansas. It has been quite the culture shock coming from a larger Southern City to a small town in the Midwest. Being Southern I still find myself enchanted with each snowfall, the bunnies that hop around my front yard, and the howling winds that roll tumbleweeds quickly across my path. The smell of cow is something I am not sure I will ever acquire an affinity for. I am different from a lot of women out here because I was raised to be a Belle. I still believe manners and values are very important. I feel I value the things most people do like friends, family and faith. My hobbies include walking, Pilates, reading, writing, my pets, and spending time with friends. Looking at me you would never guess that I have an affinity for the harder edged rockers like Shinedown, 3 Doors Down and Staind, but you would be absolutely mistaken. Although, those are my favorites I am not opposed too much music except for mainly rap. I don’t fit easily into a box description wise so if you want to know more feel free to ask.
You are such a cutie I don;t see why the women in Florida won't give yo ua chance. :blushing:
