Breastfeeding calories

So, I know that a breastfeeding mother is supposed to eat at least 1800 calories a day. But, even with tracking my calories, I never seem to go that high. During my pregnancy, my appetite increased so I gained a lot of weight...probably more than I should have. But now it seems to have diminished. Before I got pregnant, I didn't have a very high appetite...probably from the huge weight loss. It took me a year to get from 165 to 110. Unfortunately, I gained most of that weight back during my pregnancy. I try to eat the 1800 calories but if I do, I end of feeling really sick by the end of the day. Any advice on what to do? Will my milk supply be affected if I don't eat the recommended amount of calories?
On another note, I only exercise when I find the time...and usually never more than 10 minutes. I'm trying to work my way back up to doing 30. But I don't wanna wear myself out because i have the baby to take care of.

If it makes you sick I wouldn't worry about eating 1800 cal. As long as your satisfied it should be fine. Make sure your drinking enough water. Try having a few high cal snacks like nuts. Lots of calories, not filling but lots of protein. How old is your baby??0

He'll be 2 months on the 14th. He's going for his 2 month checkup on that day as well. Also, grocery shopping. So that day is going to be a busy day. Will probably try to buy some higher calorie food like you suggested.0

I have been running a little over 1700. I try to eat something every time I pump and a little extra when I'm at work. I've found fresh fruit is a good snack. Apples, Carrots and Celery with Peanut Butter.0

for me water is key to making enough milk. I never make it to 1800 calories, I often don't make it to 1200 calories.0

High protein nutritional bars are your friend
If you feel sick, I would think it's more likely WHAT you're eating rather than how much of what you're eating. Keep food logging and cut out some items from your diet that may be impacting it. I often felt nauseated after having the baby.
Mine was: Time of day taking prenatal and drinking tea. Unfortunately, that took a LONG while to figure out.
Good luck!0
