My mother and I are sufferrers. Luckily my outbreaks are very minimal, however my mother was much worse. She has done everything from anti-biotics to radiation therapy.

Apparently the radiation therapy has helped dry up some of the sites and she has now started a regimen of remicade which is a drug used to treat Rheumatoid Arthritis. It has been helping quite a bit, and there are documented studies in europe of this working. FYI

That's fantastic! I've not heard of radiation therapy for HS. Is this only in Europe, or are other places using this as well?

My mother was able to get it here in the states. It is an approved use apparently as BC/BS paid for it. They had to use photon radiation because the fistulas were so deep. She hit her lifetime limit on the radiation and that's when she found out about the remicaid treatment. That is the one approved in Europe for HS. The FDA has not approved it for use for HS here in the states. Reluctantly BC/BS paid for it after a few appeals and a call to our senator.

Boy, I hope remicade gets approved here in the states if it's working! Happy it's doing a good job for your mom :)

Do your research and look it up, it's been being used on a case by case basis. Get with your physician as well and see if he would be willing to bill it to your insurance.

    ETA: Link for your information...
