Half marathon training and flu

(x-posting to a couple different boards) So this is the first week of my "official" half marathon training program and I get the flu. Just my luck. I'm really concerned with how far this is going to set me back. Prior to this week, I'd been doing 5-6 miles for my long runs on the weekends. I'm hoping that will help me out some, but I'm not sure how long I'll be convalescing from this (my goal is to get back on the road by the end of the week, but not optimistic that's going to happen). Do any of you have experience with sickness during a training plan? If so, how did you get back on track?

Unless I have issues breathing or keeping bodily fluids in, I normally will run something. I actually kept on running after my last marathon after I was diagnosed with whooping cough. It hung on for a month but really it didn't bother me running (until I stopped)

just listen to your body. Obviously you don't want to prolong your sickness.

If it is flu as opposed to a heavy cold then you should not run at all. Concentrate on getting better.

If you have fever or chest congestion, don't run. If you just have it in your head, you can run through it. Of course, if it does not get better, or becomes worse over time, stop running and go (back) to the doctor.

Thanks everyone! If I can make it through tonight and tomorrow without fever I might try a short trail run tomorrow night. I'll just have to see, though. Definitely been in no shape to the past couple days, with fever and body aches plus congestion. Doc thinks it will probably peak somewhere around the weekend, but I'm hoping it already has!
