In case anyone here is watching my food diary, I'll explain what I'm doing.

I'm easing back into my dieting. This week, I'm eating a healthy breakfast and doing whatever for lunch and dinner.
Next week, it'll be breakfast & lunch, then the next will be breakfast, lunch & dinner.

I've learned it's a better way for me. If I start saying 'no' to myself to quickly, I don't stay with it. Fortunately, eating a good breakfast seems to translate to better eating habits all day long, so even though I'm technically not dieting for the other two meals, I am eating much better.

I'm expierementing on myself to see what works best for me. We'll see how this goes. :)

  • Good luck!!!

I hate saying "no" to myself too. I've tried going on strict diets, but they always end up failing. I'm trying to keep an eye on portions so I can eat what I want, I just have to eat less of it and just not bringing junk in the house.

Always glad to have some cheerleaders!

My sister-in-law lost and has kept off over 90 lbs. by doing exactly what you are doing. She eats whatever she wants (this includes much beer and desserts) but keeps an eye on amounts. Sounds like a good way to do it to me!

Sounds like a good way to do it. Good for you for giving yourself time to change, I know so many people who want it to be instant and end up right back at the beginning again.
I try not to say no to anything I want, just keep it within my calories. Over time I've discovered that the dessert/beer/chips/whatever doesn't always look as good when I know I'll have to eat less somewhere else or exercise more.
Best of luck to ya, doll!

Yeah, after years of dieting, I finally figured it out. Small changes lead to big ones.

Fortunately, I'm not a big beer or chip fan. Not one for the salty snacks. My nemesis...desserts! I'm trying to make healthier ones by using seasonal fruits and decreasing the bad stuff (sugars, butter, etc). Now that it's cooling off, I plan to use a lot of oatmeal to make 'crips' or 'buckles'.

Exercise is the key for me. I was doing really good swimming everyday but hurt my back three weeks ago so I've been taking it easy as doing too much doesn't help things. BUT, it's definitely better and I'm pleased fall is almost here. Closing the pool in September but weill strap on the sneakers and start walking in the mornings. That will make a HUGE difference!
