I am a 33 year old female who is 5'4 and weights 145 pounds. I would like to loose 5-10 pounds more. I have struggled with yo yo dieting for about 12 years now.
I have 2 toddlers and 3 pregnancies gaining and loosing lots of weight every time. I have been on a diet a lot especially the last 3 years. To be honest I am exhausted of trying to loose weight without success. I tried weight watchers eating 26-29 points and I loved the plan but wasn't loosing. I lost the baby weight from a low carb diet. I can't do it anymore and need a lifestyle without food restrictions like a low carb dieting.
I also exercise 5 times a week at the gym in classes like kickboxing, step, spin etc... Honestly I would rather not since it doesn't seem to help anyhow. I was eating 1350 calories walking 5 times a week for an hour didnt loose so I tried the same thing the next week but did intense gym classes. Didn't work. Last week I went back to walking 5times a week and ate 1600 calories a week. No move in the scale. I track and weight everything. I eat non processed foods. Frustrated. I am not rail thin here so its not as though I don't have weight to loose. SOme sites say I should eat 1800 calories?

Hi :-)
You sound exhausted and I can relate! I am 37 and gained a lot of weight with both pregnancies, lost it all except that nasty last 15 lbs (5'6" CW 143). Like you I yo-yo-ed and fought with the last pounds for years, doing all the right things and seeing no results. Well finally in the last month I have seen consistent results! But you are not going to like the details lol.
I have had to diet. Not lifestyle balanced eating in moderation, I am talking 1200-1350 calories, plus burning 500 a day through exercise, walking an hour a day plus Jillian DVDs every night. Fighting for every pound. No alcohol, carbs as 75-100g a day. low sugar and no breads etc. In the last month I have lost 7.5lbs, and I expect the next 7.5 to come off by the end of August.
I am telling you this because this worked for me. It is up to you whether this is the right route for you. Others are going to give you the exact opposite advice. I can tell you that for me, although it's been a tough fight, I am so glad I took it to this next level. Working so hard to lose the last 10-15 has been worth the effort.
Best of Luck :-)0 -
Hey ladies! I'm in the same boat. I'm 5'5" and currently 141. I've never been much below that in my adult life with the exception of being sick for 9 weeks with a virus - got down to 132. I would like to be between 130 and 135. I have two young boys, 3 and 5 and gained about 40 pounds with each pregnancy. I work out almost every day and find that when I'm running three times a week (5.2 miles per hr for 3 miles) I lose the most weight. I've lost about 12 pounds over the last three months mostly due to cutting out all artificial sweeteners, most sodium and most processed foods. Also, I eat a carb/protein/fat every time I put something in my mouth. When I move my weight loss goal to 1.5 pound loss I also notice changes in the scale in the right direction, but I only do it for a week straight and then move back to 1 pound a week. My nutritionist/trainer gets mad and says I'm not getting enough calories. I might do that again starting Monday just for a week.
We can do this. We're all so close.0 -
Thanks so much! I saw a nutritionist and she said eat 1500-1600 calories. She said walk 45 min 5 times a week. I also weight trained with Jillian 3 times per week. LOst not an ounce. I guess i need to lower my calories to 1200 range. ANnoyed. I didnt even have alcohol or refined foods.0

I'm definitely not a proponent of eating 1200 calories. I started MFP eating 1200 because that's what it told me I should eat. I never had enough energy to work out. I started reading the "Eat More to Weigh Less" and implemented those changes into my diet.
I'm currently eating 1670 calories per day while doing Insanity. Sometimes it's a strugge to get those calories in but pre-planning the day really helps. I also try to balance protein 30%/ carbs 40% / fat 30%. I type in my plan for the next day into my food diary. If I'm not meeting a goal in an area, I adjust my foods until I get close to my target percentages - i.e. I'll lose the tortilla for my wrap and eat one tablespoon of peanut butter. It's not easy but I think as you learn to eat better foods it gets easier. Also, I don't aim for perfection. This weekend I made an awesome pizza and I ate three slices. I still managed to stay within my calorie goal for the day so it didn't affect me as far as gaining weight.
Hope this helps! Please note the percentages for PCF have to be adjusted to what works for you. I am always assessing how things are going with my body. Lowering carbs has definitely helped me.0
