Hey All,
There's no better way to say this: My overhead press and bench press suck! My squats, rows and deadlift rock.. Anyone else have this issue? I'm in week 1.. Thanks

Overhead Press is HARD. I haven't managed to add much weight from my starting point, I'm all ears to suggestions as well!0

It is very common...don't beat yourself up over it. I can dead nearly 200 but can only bench 90. My OHP has been stuck at 70 for a while now even after a deload. As women, our upper body strength is often lacking compared to bottom. Just keep at it and try micro additions instead of 5 pounds at a time. I even just try adding reps instead of weight sometimes.0

I did, this weekend, buy my own 1.5 and 2.5 weight plates.0

after 5 weeks, I just failed my OHP at 55. so basically i have not progressed hardly at all.
meanwhile, i can squat 105.
the OHP kills me every time.
I am doing okay at bench...i haven't stalled yet. check out the youtube videos "so you think you can bench?" they helped me focus my entire body on the lift, not just my arms/chest, and that has seemed to help me lift heavier...
also, do push-ups. i feel like push-ups as accessory work have helped my bench as well.
but geesh, that OHP! killing me.0 -

Yeah, have to admitt my push ups aren't great either. The longer "pulling" muscles are alot stronger than the shorter "push" dedicated muscles0 -
Yep all my upper body weights got stuck, on the move again as of next week when my foot heals...use the madcow system on the stronglift site, it really does work when you get stuck...I know it says when you get stuck on the squats but I modified it for just BP, OP and Barbell Row...

Ive failed on 55lb OHP 2 weeks in a row now, hopefully this week I can get the full 5x50

Yes, the magic 55...It is where I'm stuck as well0

I've struggled to progress AT ALL with OHP, even with microloading. I've done a bit better with the bench, but not much. I'm afraid I'm not much good at squats and deadlifts either, but at least with them I'm significantly further on than when I started. OHP and bench are just so difficult - you can't get use your legs and body the way you can with the other lifts.
I would recommend fractional plates. I wouldn't be getting anywhere at all without them!0
