weight loss??

I am going into my 8th week of eating vegan. For the most part anyway. I do still have a small amount of powdered creamer with 1 coffee about 3 days a week but other than that it's been pretty much straight forward. We do go to a place with great burgers for the rest of the family and veggie burgers for me. I recently learned they have a small amount of egg in them used as a binder but they are made in large batches so I don't think I get very much in a 3 oz. burger.
I have learned to eat many vegetables I have never eaten before and find I like things I never thought I would. I found a great Organic tofu burger at Trader Joe's that is all vegan. They cost $2.49 for a 2 pack and all I do is put a small amount of Pam in a skillet and heat them on each side flipping 2 times. It takes maybe 5 minutes. I eat 1 in a whole wheat thin or tortilla with mustard tomato, alvocado, vegan cheese and or whatever veggie are handy. They are very good and filling plus cheap! 2 meals for less than $3.00, can't beat that!
I feel so much better these days, clear headed and I sleep better than I have in many years with no pills! My energy level for a 64 yr old is much higher than most of the people I am around!
The only thing I am not getting is the weight loss I thought I would get. I have lost 4 pounds in the 7 weeks but it just doesn't seem like much to me. I do dance 3-6 hours a week and walk several times a week for about 1 hour. Is this normal not to lose weight any faster on vegan? My calorie and fat intake is always under the amount it says I need. It seems my body is determined not to give the weight up! I drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.

I have the same problem. Sometimes I get discouraged, but then I focus on how much better my clothing is fitting or how much more energy I seem to have, or how much calmer I am since I gave up processed foods. Yes, I do fall off the wagon, and I do wish my thighs would shrink faster, but then I realized that I have not been as vigorous an exerciser as I could be, (I think I have to focus on intensity rather than length of time). I also note that when I use the pre-made protein vegan foods I do not do as well as I do when I get my protein from homemade rice and bean soups garnished with nuts and peas. I get hungrier sooner, more often, and with greater intensity when I eat the beanie burgers. Still, the burgers are easy when I am tired or rushed.

Lastly, the movie Forks over Knifes on Hulu.com or Netflicks really brings home the medical benefits of a plant-based diet. Watch this movie and you won't feel discouraged any-longer.

Sorry to have taken so long to reply. I don't get on the computer often as i use my Iphone instead. Sadly you can't see any of this on the phone. I am home alone since my husband is still a truck driver so I hate to cook for myself therefore I do a lot of the tofu mixed with pasta or vegan burgers. I feel like I'm not getting enough protein and too high a count in carbs. I'm not a huge fan of legumes and even most of the beans are a bit high in carbs. I do feel better than I have in a really long time and like you I haven't been doing enough exercise like I know I should do. I don't have any excuse except I just don't do it. I was doing 6 hours of dance a week but we lost our zumba teacher so I am down to 3 hours a week. The sad thing is I have a treadmill at home so what's my problem?? I wish I knew! I think I just have to get off the pity pot and get doing what I know I have to do! I really didn't go vegan for any other reason than hoping to feel better and get rid of the brain fog. Most of my family all eat meat.
Thanks so much for your reply.
