Name Associations with Celebrity Babies

My husband and I finally found a boy's name we both like (not love, but almost there) and we started googling to see the meaning, nicknames, etc...and we discovered a celebrity recently named their boy the same name. It's Camden Jack - Kristen Cavaliri and Jay Cutler named their son the same last month.

Do you think anyone will give a rat's *kitten* what they named their son a few years from now? I ask because when I made a post about the name in the "What to Expect" forums, so many people made the connection (that we hadn't even made).

We've also considered Camden Gray, Davis Gray, and Jack Davis - but we keep coming back to Camden Jack.

Any thoughts are appreciated :)

No, I don't think anyone will care what they named their baby! Pick it if you feel comfortable with it

Also the only reason I heard about this celebrity baby name is because Nick and Vanessa Lachey named their son Camden Jack (or was it Camden John - I've seen both). Apparently Kristin and Nick used to date, so this must be newsworthy. (I know, I'm knocking it when I was the one reading it... Let's just say I was bored that day.)

Hahaha - too funny. But, that's exactly why so many other women made the association too. I just don't want to have a boy and name him Camden Jack and have a million people say "oh, like Kristen and Jay's little boy?"

On the flip side - it sort of rhymes with our last name, Swanson. Camden Swanson. So, aside from possible association and rhyming, we love it...haha. Oh gosh - a girls name was SO EASY for us to come up with, but we've been stuck on the boy forever!

I love Camden Jack! I also love Camden Grey and Davis Grey!! Big fan of the preppy names! Sounds like whichever name you pick will set him up to be a proper little gentleman. Also, I don't think anyone will care (or maybe even realize) that your son has the same name as the celebrity couple.

I hope he's a little gentleman :) But thank you both for the thoughts on the celebrity part - hopefully people forget about them as time goes on and they won't make the connection! That makes me feel a bit better :)

But now I'm wondering about the rhyming - is it THAT bad? Camden Jack Swanson? Camden Swanson? -en and -on...hmmm. Honesty, please :)

My husband wants to pass on his middle name to a little boy, he's the 3rd generation with it. His middle name is Ross. He also likes the name Gavin, so he picked a boy name and I picked the girl name. We are having a girl, but if she had been a boy the name would have been Gavin Ross. Very similar to Gavin Rossdale, the lead sing of the band Bush. No one even notices it.

All we considered was names we liked and how they could possibly impact our kids growing up. We didn't want anything that could turn into a hurtful nickname easily or something odd that may make them stick out in a bad way. I think the name you have is fine. His middle name breaks it up nicely. Now if it was Camden Jackson Swanson it my be a bit much. But Camden Swanson sounds great to me. It's what I like to call a "clean" name, people shouldn't screw it up, but it is still unique and personal.

Honestly, the rhyming is not terrible. It's the kind of thing that I don't think a lot of people would perk up their ears at, especially after hearing it a few times. The more I "read" it in my head, the more normal it sounds.

Our last name ends in -bert, so we would never choose a name like Robert or Albert. However I think that is an extreme example. I think the -en/-on combination is less extreme than that.

Oh, and while I think "Gray" and "Grey" are nice names in and of themselves, my fear with that would be the association with 50 Shades of Grey, that 10 years from now people are going to say things like, "I know what you were reading right before he was conceived [wink, wink]." Regardless of whether or not I have read the books (I have not), I wouldn't want people imagining me reading a book, getting all hot and bothered, and pouncing on my husband.

    "Jack" is just plain cute.

In my honest opinion, the frequency with which celebrities fall in and out of "interesting" status with the public at large should be the big reason why you don't care if the name you chose is shared by anyone else. I seriously think in 1+ years no one is really going to remember or care that a celebrity's son has the same name as yours. I love Camden Swanson and think you shouldn't change it for anything!

vanessa lachey & nick lachey named their baby camden too.lol
I don't think ur kid will be associated w them in anyway or the fact that they share the same name as a celebirty. as long as ur not naming ur child apple or other crazy names celebs do. I think Camden is a cute name and u should stick w it..

Thank you all for the input - we find ourselves comparing every name to Camden Jack, so I think that's a sign :). Hopefully everyone forgets about Kristen/Jay! And y'all reassured me about the rhyming too - it's not an exact rhyme, and he will probably go by Cam or Jack anyways.

    Many thanks!

I didn't even know she was pregnant! My grandma told me to pick a name and then stand at the bottom I the stairs and shout it out! If it sounded right then that's good- as you will be doing that for the rest of the child's life! Lol. Pretty cute but I'd associate it with Camden as in London and would get goths/Emo pictures in my head!

Not necessarily a celebrity baby but we're naming our little man Jaxon, Jax for short and I've been asked if its from SOA, totally not! I don't watch it and didn't even know there was a guy on there named Jax till after we picked it lol we just wanted to put a spin on the name Jackson. Anywho if/when people ask us now or a year from now, they probably won't much longer than that :)

Mrscarter - I don't know what SOA is, so I think you're good :). Jax is so cute!
