With the US Presidential Election in full swing, perhaps a famous political sentiment is also something we Single Peeps should keep in mind going forward:

Arguing politics never changes someone's opinion about the candidates or issues, it only changes their opinion of you.

Election cycles as a whole feel way too long now.

I think the media landscape is a tremendous factor is why I perceive that, and I do not think my perception is that unusual. There's far more media coverage now than there was in 2000.

    An appropriate remainder.

    And not just politics.

I just want to block all my Facebook friends who are arguing the election on their pages. I'm tired of all the damned commercials and cant wait til its all over. I dont like talking politics anymore then religion(we all saw how well that went) because no 2 people have the same view and fighting will insue

THIS. I'm tired of all the talk, commercials and political jokes out there. I truly don't believe either candidate can make the US any better, so why bother?

Yes, this is exactly what I meant! The idea is not specific to politics.

I might write in my cat for president.

I think she would be brilliant.

Everytime I see a friend liking something political so it shows up in my TL it makes me cringe. If my FB timeline is any indicator though the guy I don't like is going to win by a landslide.

I don't think she'll win, she has a tendency to be..... catty.

Why yes I just quoted myself to make the best pun ever.

I'm trying to decide between writing in Genghis Khan or Vlad the Impaler on November 6th. I'm not terribly impressed with either current candidate so far.

OMG, THIS^^ The night of the debate killed me. I had to log off FB rather than block everyone. I finally thanked all my friends NOT posting about politics and admittedly stirred the pot just a bit by asking what the point of the debate is? Truly, all my political friends have their mind made up as evidenced by the spew of hate on all the FB comments... geez! Enough already!

Just for that, I'd vote for her.

    I agree.

And will keep my strong opinions to myself.
    And pray.

I'm a little disappointed so many people here missed the message in this quote... :frown: It wasn't meant to be solely about politics.

Let's all just be quiet and keep our opinions to ourselves! How dare we question anyone's opinion, much less their sacred cows! Nobody ever changes their minds, anyway, since that would imply the ability to use critical thinking, logic and reason!

I'm reminded of this wonderful, haunting song, Fake Empire, by The National:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKWKRMxXB0M

    Which concludes thusly:

Turn the light out say goodnight
no thinking for a little while
lets not try to figure out everything at once
It's hard to keep track of you falling through the sky
    we're half-awake in a fake empire
    we're half-awake in a fake empire
